Question about upgrading

I am currently vaping a KR808d and want to be able to "step it up" so to speak.

I would like to be able to use the current stash of cartomizers and juices I already have, so something that's compatable would be great, but not necessary. I have looked at the defender from vapornine, any body have this model? Would an ego or Riva be a better choice even though I had to get 510 attys and/or cartomizers?

Also a question about prefilled and empty cartos..My prefilled ones that came as an extra w/one of my orders seemd to last longer than the empty ones I filled myself. I used the condom fill method. It seems as though I have to top off the ones I filled myself quite a bit or I get that burned filler taste. Any idea why this is?

I'm still really new, so thanks for all the help.

I can offer a couple suggestions. They make an adapter that will go from a 510 to the 901, which I believe is also the threading for the KR808, which would allow you to use your cartomizers and without the adapter would be able to use 510s.

Eastmall out of China also has a Riva 901, which would also allow you to use your cartomizers and give you the benefit of the larger battery. I haven't stumbled across a US supplier of the Riva 901, but that doesn't mean they're not out there yet.

In any case, unless you get one of the mall kiosk type e-cigs, you can pretty much get an adapter so that you will be able to use your cartos.

If you look up at the sticky's there is a thread by MistressNomad with a video about the kr808 . She has slot of good tips and tricks in it for that model also goes into caromizers quite a bit. Might want to check that out.

Not really sure about the Defender not heard anything about it. As far a eGo goes i am completey satisfied with mine.

Edit: link to video thread the 5th Video is the kr808 one http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Well, depends on what you mean by "step it up." :)

Are you looking for longer battery life, or more power?

If it's longer battery life, than the Defender is a good call. No need to switch to an eGo or Riva - the Defender is basically an eGo/Riva for the Kr808. So your experience will be the same, performance-wise.

If you're looking for more power, then what you're looking for is higher voltage. And for that, you need a mod.

A couple things to try to make sure it's for you, before you shell out the money for a mod.

You can try a Low Resistence (LR) 901 atomizer. It will fit on your Kr808 batteries - they have the same threads. LR atomizers simulate the 5v experience. It'll run you about 10 bucks.

Or, you can try a 5v Kr808 pass-thru. You will want to buy a 2amp wall adapter for this. Do not plug it into your computer - it can blow the USB port, or, worst case scenario, fry your motherboard. The pass-thru will cost you $15-ish. You can find a wall adapter for 10-ish.

Either one of those is a cheap way to see if higher voltage is for you.

As far as cartos, try letting them set, or shaking them, after you fill. They sometimes need some help saturating into the filler.

EDIT: Cheers, Java. :)

Mistress, I'm looking for more power. Guess I should have been specific. I have 3 batts and just received a 5V passthrough which I am in love with. That's the type of hit I was looking for. It's awesome.

So, be able to take the power of 5V with me on the go, I need a mod,(not sure what that is..lol) or 901 atty that will fit on my batt? I'm guessing batt life will certainly be cut short if you up the "power" with a 901 atty?

Your videos are great by the way! Very informative, thank you for sharing them.

Thanks Simple and Java for your replies.

Yup, you're lookin' for a mod. A mod is basically an e-cig where you have removable batteries. So, you buy the mod, the batteries, and the charger for them.

If you do like 5v, I would recommend getting a 5v mod over LR 901 atomizers. The reason being, LR atomizers die quickly, and sometimes... they take the battery with them when they blow. So if you want to go 5v all the time, a mod is a better investment.

My information about mods is limited (I don't like 5v, thus no reason to learn much about them). But the GLV2 from GreatLakesVapor is raved about. I'm sure the mod pros will jump in shortly. :)

P.S. Thank you!

I vape 5 volt sitting here at my computer with my PT. For on the go i use Low Resistance Atomizers on my eGo. Most say they Simulate 5volt vaping @ 3.7 volts. But you will need bigger batteries to run them At least 500mah. Ego or Riva would fit the bill. For even longer lasting batteries you can look at eGo XL batteries They are 900mah. Might even look into the hello 016 batteries they are 1350mah if memory is correct. Personally the regular Ego 650mah batteries do the trick for me both of them will last me all day. I am a pretty heavy vaper too.
