I've been concerned about the "Big 3" - diacetyl, acetyl propionyl and acetoin. I've recently purchased cola and hazelnut flavors made by Inawera, ECX signature, Flavourwest and Flavourart.

Does anyone have any info on whether any of these companies use the dangerous chemicals in their flavorings? Especially asking about Inawera because that smells the best to me (still steeping the mixes so i haven't tasted them yet).

I read some old posts where some people emailed IW and were told that none of their flavors contain the big 3. However, i don't know how reliable that is and that was from 2013.

My hope is that, with the concern over these chemicals, the companies, in order to avoid bad press, have been steering clear of using them. At least that's my HOPE. Anyone have any insight on the safety of the companies i mentioned?

Most flavoring manufacturers (TFA, CAP, etc.) will have the ingredients found in their individual flavorings...listed on their own websites. You could probably check out yours on the websites.

I order most of my own flavorings from Wizard Labs, because they carry flavorings from many manufacturers, and tell the ingredients for each flavoring. For any that contain the "custard notes" (like you're talking about above) they even usually have it indicated by something like this:

***Note: This flavoring contains the custard notes acetyl propionyl and acetoin."

Makes it really easy for me to decide if I want to buy it or not, or if I want to buy the DX version of the same flavoring, if one is available. DX means without those ingredients.

I'm not sure how many, or which, other vendors like Wizard Labs, have that info, but I think others have said some of them do. I only order flavorings from Wizard Labs and OSDIY shop.
