I have an MVP and I've been lately swapping out between 6.5 watts and 7.0 watts on my Mini PT 2's.

I have one question. Is juice "cooking" discoloration a function of too high or too low a setting.

I really don't notice an extreme difference at 7.0 watts for my flavors, but I did notice my juice was starting to discolor and it seemed the higher wattage seemed to be gunking up the coil a bit more.

It may seem obvious, but I am wondering if coil fouling could be a function of under powering due to incomplete vaporization of the juice.

This doesn't seem the case in my experience but wanted to ask others their experience.

Like I said, I don't notice a huge change between 6.5 and 7.0 (7.5 I start to taste some burnt fluid), and if 6.5 keeps my coils cleaner and juice cleaner, then I'll just keep it at 6.5 and not worry about it.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Generally, I set my SVD to 8 watts and forget about it regardless of the juice I'm vaping in the Protank or Puritank. Some juices do tend to get discolored as I get to the bottom of the tank, but I rarely get a burned taste unless it's time to switch out the head.

I think rebuilding also has a lot to do with how well the juice vapes. As I rebuild my own heads, I rarely have issues with burning juice.

Thanks. At 6.5 I noticed I had to do a lot less head maintenance and flavor wick replacement than at 7.0. I had a friend last night with a Protank 2 and the fluid looked like coal tar. He doesn't rebuild heads so I told him it's time to replace.....He said he just replaced it earlier in the day.....I couldn't believe it....

Most Juice that discolor, I believe it is in the nature of the juice. I have one chocolate based flavor and it is a coil killer. Literally a coil head would last me about 3 hrs and it would be unusable until I dry burned it. Just my opinion
I've had the same experience with my chocolate & coffee flavors. I can't get through a single bottle in my Reo before they start to taste like crap and the coil's so bad I can't dry burn it clean. Wind up having to replace it. I haven't noticed that power makes a difference though

In my experience the darker colored juices do seem to gunk up coils faster than light colored/clear ones do.

Heat can and will cause juice to darken, that is just the nature of the beast. It's easy enough to clean the tank between fills.

I tend to vape at around 8W most of the time and don't have trouble with gunking the coils. You can extend the life of a coil that seems to be fouling by alternating between dry burning and rinsing with running water to clean the coil.

For me, it's the sweeter liquids that gunk up fast. Had to let one of my faves go because it was just getting to be a real pain to fool with all the time. Sad.

Sure didn't take long to find a replacement, though! :)

I also stay at about 6.5 to 7, on an MVP. My coil preference is a 2.2-ish. I've been rebuilding and am liking it!

That makes sense...He did say he was using new e-liquid.

All my e-liquids are pretty clear. I have Wowboy from V4L...Green Apple from ECBlends...(Jury still out on that... very muted taste and it takes forever to steep....) Apple cinnamon from ECBlends which is basically cinnamon...no apple is coming through, and Thin Mint Cookie from ECBlends which is amazing. (you taste the mint on the inhale and cookie on the exhale...that's just voodoo that is...)

The green apple by VaporLeaf is so much better. Not very Jolly Rancher, which is what I looking for, but ECBlends just hasn't done it for me on the Green apple....but they have a customer for life for that Thin Mint Cookie....

Anyway...none of them discolor that much.

Quick question. I can't post in the new members forum anymore; so I was hoping some of you could help me out on this.

To make a long story short I vaped a lot of lighter colored juices. Now I've found one that's darker ... much darker than the rest that I like. The other night (half way through a tank [PT2] ) I noticed it seemed like the vape was weaker. I thought it might be the battery even though I'd never needed to recharge it so soon. I fully charged it and the vape still seems weak. Is this caused by my juice gunking up the coil?

I just have so many coils that I change out when I change flavors and clean with PGA I've never had this problem before. I was just wondering if that's what people meant when they talked about a coil gunking up; since I've never experienced this problem before.

Sorry, it kind of seemed on topic; but I know it's also kind of unrelated. I'm not tryng to thread jack; just hoping for a simple answer.

We were just discussing this issue in the last few posts. It could very well be.

Yep my DIY Banana Cream Pie is like that. I only run it in my REO now since it is so simple to yank out the cotton, dry burn, insert new cotton and vape on. High sweetener and dark juice gunk faster.

As for discolorations I kinda think of it like reducing a sauce in cooking. You heat a juice up long enough and it is going to reduce down to the thicker more colored stuff at the bottom of the tank.

I, too, had to let go of a favorite because of it's coil-killing nature. If you really want to blow your mind, try vaping unflavored liquid. No kidding, my coils last *forever* with unflavored liquid. Back when I was using pre-bought heads I could get several weeks to more than a month off a coil easy if I used unflavored juice.

I have a carto tank that has been running my own DIY mint candy juice. It is absolutely clear and no sweetener. Been using the same carto for 5 weeks and it is just NOW starting to tighten up.

I've only recently had the option of vv/vw and I vape all DIY juice. I've always had most of my juices get darker when I get to the bottom of the tank, and for the most part only my darker/sweeter juices gunk up my coils quicker. I think as others have said, it's just what juice does when you cook it, variable voltage or not. :vapor:

Go to the new member's forum and look for the [Post New Thread] button. It probably won't be there for you either. Somewhere between 60-110 posts it disappears and you can no longer start a thread there; just reply. Either that or it's time related (I signed up in very early OCT so that makes almost 4 full months). Let me know if you can still post there since you signed up this month (just for future reference).

This should explain it to you...You are past 70 posts so you can't create new threads in the new members forum. You can only respond to existing threads....
