I know you both use the 5 volt NiMH batteries from electronicstix.com.

I've also seen where Alice has mentioned that she uses a charger different than the one sold by Jason.

Although I'm not shopping for a new charger, I am curious as to what options are available and what makes them compatible.

Here are two links to a couple of chargers:

All-Battery.com: Tenergy TN156 4-Bay AA/AAA NiMH LCD Battery Charger

All-Battery.com: Tenergy TN138 4-Bay AA/AAA NiMH LED Battery Charger

Could either or both of these chargers be used to charge the 5 volt batteries in question? Do they charge them faster than the one available from electronicstix.com? I'm fuzzy on how chargers handle four 1.2V cells stacked in a tight wrapper.

Any clarification on the issue would be much appreciated. I like to know how some stuff works. Thanks!

I tried the Tenergy Super Universal LCD Charger mentioned somewhere, and it does not charge either the 400 or 600mAh 5V batteries.

I am sticking with the recommended charger for these. I keep 4 of the 600mAh in rotation, so the 5 hour charge time doesn't bother me, although I more than likely will purchase another 5V charger to charge 2 at a time. :) ;)

I was thinking of trying a different one, but the one from them works well.

I do like the 600mAh 5v batts. I only have two but I would like to get 4 more.

I forgot and left one charging overnight once, i was in a panic that I might have killed the battery.
It came off at 5.74 which is about what I get with 3-4 hours after green light like suggested.
Glad i know it won't burn the house down if I forget again.

{edit} Taking a quick look at those I don't know if they will do 5 volt. Most batteries, that those chargers take are in the < 2 volt range, like A, AA, AAA, etc. Make sure the charger is rated for different voltages.

Of the two you listed I would prefer the one with LCD. The one that Techno mentioned is an updated version of the Tenergy I have. I use the old one Amazon.com: BC1HU 110-240V Universal Fast Smart Charger for AA/AAA/C/D/9V Rechargeable Batteries: Electronics

and you can do Ni-Cads on it too. You might be able to find it cheaper by googling.

BEWARE........ I used the "refresh" button on the four skinny 5v and I think it damaged them. But was getting full charge on them before I did that. I ordered three more, that I got in yesterday. I'm really wanting the larger, 18650 sized 5v, but they were out of stock.
