The 510 is said to give a great throat hit, though I haven't tried it, yet. I use the 901 myself, and find that going over to a battery mod increases the throat hit and vapor; the stock batteries just don't have much kick. That said, though, the stock manual battery is supposed to be better, but I haven't tried them.

If you're inclined to build your own mod, a Nicostick or JuicyBox work very well and are pretty easy to make. Search the forum and you'll find instructions for building them.

Happy Vaping!

Some liquids will give better TH than others, as well. Menthol will give better TH than chocolate, for instance. Some of the alcohol flavored juices will also help with TH.

Well u r definetly right about that, my choc is very weak, coffee is pretty weak as well I mixed those two together to make a mix I will smoke but dont nec like. So far the juices I have that have the best kick are marl and brandy. Unfortunately both of the suppliers I went to sell Dekang juice which from what I hear makes up about 90% of the market. I am thinking of trying some JC as the dekang from both the suppliers tastes very simular.

Going to a battery mod, any battery mod (they're all essentially the same, excluding how they look) will give you a noticeable increase in throat hit due to the higher sustained voltage and increased wattage of the coil. Going from the 901 to 510 will also give you a substantial increase in throat hit, due to wattage increases from the lower resistance.
A 901 on 5v is amazing though, and the 510 on a mod is roughly the same.

Hi Brewster,
How old is your 901 atomiser ?.

I ask as you should definately be getting a good hit from it.

I have been using a 901/RN4075 with The ScrewDriver for over a year and providing you are using a newish atomiser there should be no problem.

The throat hit starts to drop off after I have been using the atomiser for 2-3 weeks.
This equates to Vaping 40ml - 60 ml liquid.
The residue from the liquid starts to buld up on the coil and they just dont function as well when they are all gunked up.

Large battery mods are definately more cost effective to run after the initial purchase.
The switch also makes vaping and consistent vapour hit much easier.

Actually its kinda hard to know how much use I have on an atty I have 7 of them and switch them out every time I change flavors> I'm kinda torn on weather to go hi volt or get a 510.

Ha that is exactly what I did when I started vaping, had umpteen atties on the go thought it was great they were lasting so long then....

They all died in the same week 8-o

Did my sums and in reality I only got 2 - 3 weeks per atomiser :p

I now just use one at a time either they die or if the hit does not satisfy time for a new one .

No more constantly swapping them about trying to get satisfaction ;)

Sorry I never tried the 510 - they were not about when I started and as I was happy with the vapour and throat hit from my 901 ( Just hated the self clean, short battery life and LED) I just stuck with the atomiser and a mod for cheap batteries and long run time.

HMMM me thinks I stop switching attys and use only 1 till it dies it would suck 4 them to all die at once. what mod did you go to.

I've been useing a 901 for 9 months, been OK for the most part. Been using it on a Kensington. My 901 stuff is now retired since I got my KR808D-1. This unit blows away the 901 in every way. I thought the cost would increase, but not at all (I've been getting over 10 refills on the cartos). It will end up costing less with better throat hit and taste. Cartos last me 4-7 hours, (I vape about 3mls/day). ALOT less refilling, and with an adapter, can be used on your 901 stuff.

In my opinion, a hotter atomizer will give you a better throat hit.
So get yourself a manual battery, and also consider a higher voltage mod.

But really, the juice you use plays a very big part in this.
Different flavors from the same vendor will have different throat hits.
And the same flavor from different vendors will have different throat hits.

I'd suggest trying some samples of Nhaler High Voltage juice.
They give a lot of vapor and good throat hit and taste really good.

Hi Brewster
I have The ScrewDriver - have been using it since Nov 2008 .

I personally am not a collector of e-cigs and also dont want to try everything on the market so afraid cannot give you comparisons .

I simply wanted one that worked and satisfied me .
I count myself lucky I found it within 6 weeks of starting vaping.

There are now a lot of mods now available and you will need to do some research to figure out what is right for you.

3.6v - 4.2v for me is fine I was happy with the hit and vapour of the 901/ RN 4075.
I wanted a much longer battery life as I was charging 3 901s at a time and carrying a rake of them about with me.
The LED blinking away also started to get on my nerves after the initial novelty of it wore off , that took 3 days
Self clean is another pain in the neck I was happy to say goodbye to.
Running costs are another bonus as the batteries live longer than the small ones and are a heck of a lot cheaper to buy.
Anything with a switch is easier to vape as no primer puff required to kick start the atomiser.

Just remember with the 5v and 6v devices you wont get as much flavour and if you dont know what you are doing you can burn out the atomisers pdq.
