I bought a basic kit 3 weeks ago as i am new to vaping myself. I is one of those kits with the personal charging case. Cost me a fair bit with an extra battery and some juice.
Now i wish i had gone bigger straight away, as constantly recharging batteries every few hour and dripping into cartomisers.
I would look at the vamo variable voltage/wattage, as i am wanting to move on now. A good place to look at some videos of different hardware and thing is here on youtube Uploaded videos - YouTube
He gives good straight forward explanations as has been a good help to me. Also has a website http:/....................
Go for something bigger than i did to start with is my advice, and happy hunting m8.

Work graveyard and just got home to find all these responses...wow. I guess misery does like company. Tonight I am going to check with one of the guys I work with who started these things last NOV because his wife said "quit smoking". Took two hits last week out of curiosity, so I guess that's why I'm here. Will let you know. So here is my big question. I really need to quit smoking, but changing the delivery method doesn't break the habit does it? Or am I not seeing something here? Last time I quit was for 2 1/2 years, them...well...you know the story. Will check back tomorrow. Thanks again.

You can try this and cut down on your nic and then put the ecigs away. You came here for a reason, right?

We here have found this to be about the only way to get off of cigarettes. This way is what at least takes the Harmful part of the addiction away.

Changing the delivery might not change the nicotine and hand to mouth habit.... but...... it gets rid of the smoke, the tar and the 1000's of chemicals in the cigarettes which can kill you.... and makes you smell bad

One thing I know is if I had waited until I understood all about ecigs I would still be sitting here in confusion paralysis..... instead of smoke free for 2 years....

Welcome to ECF and good luck with it all.... definitely lots of choices out there......

cig size to ego size to large mod size is a very common progression..... not necessary for all but, I think, for most....

I would have never been ready for a Provari without the steps..... all money was well spent, I consider it tuition

FWIW I got the cig-a-like to start. 3 days later I sold it to a coworker, too much charging, too much refilling, not enough good hits per charge..

They aren't for most people but some like it. He is still using it most of the time, but he also got an eGo Twist for when he wants a bigger bang (or when the tiny batteries are both charging..)

I'd suggest finding a reputable vendor and assembling a basic starter kit. (I've got experience with vapedojo, mypvshop and myfreedomsmokes. You should be able to get it all from either of the latter two.)
    • Prefilled "Cartomizers". Get a variety of flavors and strengths if you can, and since they are prefilled it takes most of the trouble. (Don't throw them away though, they are refillable.) This is similar to what Blu or N-Joy use, only better..
    • 650mah+ battery ("eGo" has both standard types of connector)
    • Spare battery (can be the "cig-a-like" style at 350mah)
    • Charger for batteries
    • Carrying case of some sort

To upgrade that to a less-basic kit:
    • Spinner or eGo Twist (lets you set the voltage to whatever you want so you get the same hit every time)
    • CE4, CE5 or Mini-Nova tanks (skip the normal Nova until you have juice you really like)
    • Raw "juice" in different flavors (sample packs are great for this)
(Alternately, check out the dojo starter kit. $13, just add in some juices at $5/10ml and a spare battery and you are good.. It is fairly small but doesn't look like a cig.)

The basic kit will give you something that can look like a cig (or a Blu) as well as a larger battery in case you plan to use it for more than 1 hour out of every 3.

You mentioned durable, but nothing here is going to be super durable. You can drop most of it but you can't run it over or sit on it. Lots of plastic, lots of (relatively) weak thread-joints, etc.. (The full-size Novas from vapedojo.com are metal tubes instead of plastic, but they hold a LOT of juice. Not good when you aren't sure on flavors yet..)

As far as actually quitting, I switched over completely as soon as my batteries were charged. YMMV..

    Some tips though:

Don't approach it like "something you do during smoke breaks instead of smoking". It doesn't work the same at all.. Instead, think of it as something you do pretty frequently between breaks AND something you do during breaks instead of smoking.

With that in mind, I'd suggest a pile of 16-18mg juices and a couple of 24mg. You can hit the 16-18 as frequently as you want (every few minutes or more) without getting an OD headache, and when the desire to smoke starts to come up (you are looking at the clock, out the window, patting your pockets for a pack, etc) switch up to 24 for a bit and let it fade..

Yeah at least something w/ minimum 1000ma batteries. I was doing little 808 G6's and they sucked. I was a 1.5 a day Newport Red guy so I know where you're coming from. Start w/ 24mg juice PG80/VG20. Dekang Desert Ship is similar to Camels but all flavors are completely subjective! i stepped up to a mod (Zmax from Varitube kit $90). Was so impressed I ordered one for my car a couple days later. Forgot it at home a couple days later and had a cig and hated it! Whatever you buy get a decent unit as they really work!
