Fluids definitely can help with overeating. For one, they make you feel full. But more importantly, often your body can't distinguish whether you're dehydrated or hungry so people assume that they're hungry when really they need fluids.

THIS^^^^^^

I have lost weight, but the first week I was "hungry" and I was actually dehydrated. We are not kidding when we tell new members to DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Much more than you think you want. I don't go anywhere anymore without a bottle of water in my purse.

No, but I really watch what I eat. Log everything at FitDay. I run in the morning and go to the gym 5 nights a week. I don't do any of this because I look like Barbie or like to exercise. I'm at that age where I have to do it or else.

Also, about 10 years ago I tried to quit smoking (didn't) but I did gain 20 lbs that took me forever to lose. So I was super- worried that would happen.

I think a lot of people mistake hunger for thirst. vaping is dehydrating. If you're hungry, drink some water and wait 20 minutes. Most times you aren't hungry anymore.

I eat chocolate every day. Lol.

I'm drinking a lot less diet coke since I started vaping.
Water is the only thing I find drinkable now.
My dr and dentist will like that. I have about a dozen crowns and weak bones from decades of soda drinking.

I eat chocolate every day too. Every night I have a Zone bar and a diet soda, and look forward to it all day. It keeps me sane and happy!

^^THIS!

I started using MyFitness for my Android and I have to admit that I'm appalled at the eating habits I've developed recently. I'm so glad that I'm meeting with my trainer tomorrow so I can get started back down the road to healthier eating and staying in shape! I'd love it if I had my "basic training" body again!

Personally, I don't mind if I gain a bit of weight while making the transition. I think that increasing walking or doing fun physical activities that you enjoy would be good if you feel up to them. Your taste buds are coming back and that is a good thing. I am planning on going on a 30-day green smoothie kick by starting off my day with a green smoothie. I swear by these. I add chia seeds for omega 3s, fiber and protein. They also absorb 10x their weight in water so they leave you with a full and satisfied feeling. Cigarettes have stolen many nutrients from our bodies and most Americans do not eat anywhere close to what their nutritional needs actually are. The simplest smoothie I make is with a few cups of spinach, chia seeds, frozen strawberries, soymilk and a bit of real vanilla extract. There's lots of stuff online about green smoothies and I just bought the book Green for Life to pump myself up. (Green For Life 2nd Edition)

The other thing I do is carry around Larabars or Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bars (Hazelnut and Chocolate) with me, so if I feel hungry when I'm out, I have something healthier to eat than fast food or snacks.

People already mentioned getting enough fluids (esp water!) but it is really simple to tell if you are getting the right amount. People can also drink too much water. The easiest way to tell is that your pee should be a light lemon color. If it is clear, you are drinking too much water. If it is darker, you are not drinking enough.

But, if you take vitamins or medication it can change the color. B vitamins especially.

I've actually found that I eat less since I've swapped to vaping. I've been vaping the bakery flavors and they seem to satisfy my sweet tooth. The only problem I have is that I have to remember to eat or I will start to feel ill. I drink water and soda constantly while vaping. I think I'm going to start on a eating schedule again because my appetite is gone. I actually ate more when I smoked!

I think that the nic level has something to do with appetite and weight loss as well. If you smoke higher nic (24mg to 36mg) you might find that your appetite goes up and if you smoke lower nic (12mg to 18mg) frequently your appetite will go down. This information is derived from my knowledge that nicotine in lower levels acts as a stimulant and will raise the metabolism. Stimulants are often used in weight loss products (like stacker 3) to give the user a burst of energy, raise the metabolism, and may encourage the user to engage in activities other than eating. When nicotine is delivered in higher levels it acts as a sedative. The sedative effect will cause the user to feel relaxed and more inclined to activities such as eating. You might also gain weight if you are vaping a lot of high mg nicotine and sleeping/eating more often.

I remember reading somewhere that nicotine (and probably other stuff in analogs) impacts your insulin levels -- which is why so many of us gain weight when we try to quit smoking. I just started vaping but am using 24mg stuff and haven't been eating more or gaining weight since starting to vape. Just a thought...

I think it may have to do with what we are drinking, and how much of it ... like many of the other ladies here have already said.

I haven't gained weight with e-cigs. But I do need to lose a few pounds for health reasons. I used to drink coffee, soda, or tea to mask the ashtray taste of analogs - Otherwise I'd be swishing my mouth with mouthwash or brushing my teeth all day. I think switching to water, now that I'm not covering up an awful taste, would be a good start.

Would that possibly help you?

I've been vaping for about 6 weeks (4 weeks analog free!) and I've noticed that I'm eating less. Yay! Last year I quit smoking cold turkey and gained 20 lbs in 3 months (went back to smoking really quick). I use tobacco flavors for morning and after meals and my "fun" flavors the rest of the time. I use 4 mg & 8 mg nicotine and haven't had any cravings at all.

I had an appetite surge in the first week or two, as the cigarette poisons left my body, my breathing and circulation got better, and I got back my sense of smell and my taste buds. Then I went back to my normal appetite. And now that I am vaping vanilla and chocolate, vaping is like a snack. I used to sip at tea with sugar constantly at work. Now sometimes it takes a couple of hours for me to realize I either don't have tea or I let it sit there and get cold.

I'm definitely starting to experience this effect. I have to make myself eat because i havent felt hungry at all the past few days. i vape around 12-16mg strength and plan on decreasing this even further soon.

Anyone else notice the desire to brush more often? My mouth starts getting a build up flavor/feeling after a few hours.
