thanks, im learning as i go.. so higher volt means hotter vaper? the volt im using is regulated at 3.6 volts. is there that big of a difference between 3.6 and 5 volts?

There is a BIG difference between 3.6 volts and 5.0 volts. Much warmer, fuller vapor. Not to mention much better battery life because these models all use higher mAh batteries, usually in the 1000 - 2600 mAh range whereas your model is no more than 280 mAh. Instead of a couple of hours on a charge, you will get any where from 6 - 21 hours on a charge.

There are many 5 volt and variable volt or wattage models to choose from and many are good. The two that I know to be top performers are these:

5 volt GLV 2 or 3: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Built like a tank with a lifetime warranty.

Power regulated, variable wattage Darwin: Nhaler

Because of it's advanced technology, one of the most consistent models on the market with no drop off in performance due to battery drain and comes with a full two year warranty.

You also haven't mentioned how much you smoked (unless I missed it). That will make a difference in the nic strength you need. I smoked 1 pad of M lights... my vape shop suggested 18-24 mg. I started with 18 which was good for me on average days, but I quickly started chain vaping because I enjoy vaping and enjoy the flavors. Then I had to cut it to 12 mg so I didn't make myself sick. I would rather chain vape 12 mg than occasionally vape 18 mg. I still have a bit of 18 mg, and will probably keep at least one flavor of it for times when I can't chain vape. So if you let us know how much you were smoking, we can give you a better idea of a range to start in for your nic strength.

You haven't given a reason for starting out with 0mg but if you want to stay at 0mg I would suggest try vaping a juice with higher VG. Don't be afraid to try the non-tobacco flavors. You might surprise yourself.

I think it is nic and PG that give TH. I don't think higher VG will give TH. but someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

PG doesn't give TH. It allows more of the throat hit from the nicotine through. VG dulls throat hit. Warmer vapor (5 volt/VV/lower resistence) also contributes to throat hit.

You should be fine at 18mg if you only smoked half a pack a day, but some still go to 24mg at first and many stay there for a long time. After almost 2 years, I find myself satisfied with Dekang 3&5 (555) juice and Awesome Vapor Camel. Throat hit is subjective. What constitutes good throat hit for some will make me cough.

You might want to try some tobacco sampler packs to see if you connect with a particular juice. RY4 is very popular and so are the Red Marlboro style juices.
