Hi everyone, I need some info re: cartos. I recently received my first IBTanked and am wondering if what I'm experiencing is normal. I've got the thingy thing down pat, my cartos get good and slushy so priming has been great but as I vape I keep taking my drip tip off to look inside the carto and can see that the carto begins to dry out after a few minutes of vaping. So I've been taking my tank off my battery and putting it back in the thingy to reprime it so I don't burn the carto out. I'm literally re-priming constantly. This can't be right.

I'm using the Smok 2 hole 3.2ohm single coil cartos from IBTanked and I'm running them at 4.6 volts. My juice is a 50/50 blend. Could it be my juice is to thick? That's the only thing I can figure. Perhaps I should buy a carto punch for a third hole? I prefer higher vg juices so I don't have any thinner juices to try to see if it's my juice. Any ideas? TIA! :)

Dry is fine. They even only fill newer tank cartos halfway with filler.

Go thru a whole tank and see where you stand. Dry hits-more holes. Gurgling-less holes.

50/50 Might just run fine on a Smok one-whole. I run a thicker fillered Boge, and it works great with two holes-50/50.

80%VG and up is usually a problem.

--Boy, posted and ran, huh? Lol

Thanks r77r7r, yeah, I've got a house full of kids tonight so I posted and ran. ;)

Ok, so how my carto looks is fine then....very good. I was assuming it was supposed to look saturated the whole time. It'll sure be nice to vape my tank without priming it 50 times lol! What do you mean about the holes? I don't remember reading anything about holes.

I've never had the patience for the thingy. A couple of twist and I get bored watching bubbles. Lol! I use the same method (or a variation of it) I have all along. Even if you use a different method, you might find the pictures helpful: The Ocelot Method of Carto Filling (aka The Upside-Down Condom)

ETA: If mine get dry on top, I just add a couple of drops. I rotate devices, so they often get dry sitting around.

I thought the same thing at first. Took me a minute or two to figure out what holes.
Assuming you're priming correctly, does it taste burnt or something to give you some reason there's a need to re-prime. The top isn't supposed to look slushy and the top could look like it's dry but if the vape is still good, the holes in the bottom should be sucking in enough liquid. I'll usually add a few drops in the top when I add more juice.

Derp, I thought r77r7r meant some kind of holes in the filler. Yep, I can be that sharp!

Thank you Oce and Susan. I thought I must have been doing something wrong to cause it to look drier on top...glad to know it's normal. The carto is vaping fine with good taste. I'll use the tip to add a few drops to the top when refilling. Ocelot I've had great success with the thingy. There is a tiny "womp" noise the thingy creates when the suction in the thingy is working correctly, so I just listen for that "womp" and give it several good twists and I'm good to go! And Susan good to know I wasn't the only one who had a brain cramp about the holes lol!

Ok, looks like I am successfully cartotanking! I've got four tanks but only one set of caps from IBTanked...time to shop...again!
