Hi

I have a question, I thought the reason why people started vaping was to start saving money and not spend so much on buying cigarettes. But in this forum I see a lot of people have a multitude of vapers...I can understand having a lot of the flavor/juice but I really don't get why people having so many different ones. I'm not judging you guys for having multiple ones but I just wanted to know why. Seems to me IMHO that it'll be costly to keep buying new products and etc. The area that I'm in, a pack of cigarettes only costs ~6 bucks so spending 40bux and up on new stuff don't seem like saving money to me, other than the obvious better health aspect. Please don't think I am ignorant when I ask this question, I'm new to vaping and just wanted to see others opinions of why the need for more than a set or 2.

Thanks.

People primarily vape to stop smoking cigarettes for health reasons. So the primary reason is to have an alternative replacement for nicotine that satisfies cravings for smokes that the nicotine patches and gum can't. They are also sick of the smell and residue that covers their possessions and themselves.

Granted, there are those that vape to save money. And that is entirely possible. Once the more expensive aspect of buying the gear (batteries, mod, delivery devices) has been accomplished, savings per month can be realized with only e-liquid and occasional additional delivery devices is all that is required at 1/3 the cost of the tobacco habit.

Many find vaping so enjoyable that they turn this into a hobby and become collecters. Some people are technical geeks (no offense meant) and like to try out the newest stuff that comes on the market.

And then there are those who have been successfully and happily puffing away for years on their cigalike batteries, and are quite content with that. Some people continue to vape after weaning their nicotine down to zero, and others manage to quit both.

We have a saying here: "Whatever keeps you off the smokes."

ahh, I see. like having new toys to play with.

I guess me being a newbie to this...my primary concern was to stop smoking and save money and eventually get off of nicotine. I think I've already spent over 100 dollars on a kit and a lot of trial and error on juices/flavor... I dont think me spending anymore now would do me any good in terms of saving money as I previously said a pack only costs around 6 bucks here... so 100bucks divded by 6 is like almost 17 packs of cigarettes...and I wasnt a heavy smoker to begin with, so a pack lasted me a good 4-5 days....

In my situation, it seems like cigarettes are better financially, not that I want to go back to it. its been 2 weeks and 4 days since I've had one, and during this time with the e-cigarette, I havent looked back once. I even turned down a cigarette today! woohoo for me !

How can you put a price on good health? You didn't say how old you are, but from someone who had smoked a pack a day for 30+ years and was unsuccessful to quit smoking by other means (and I tried most of them), being able to finally quit within 1 week of vaping, I consider it a God send.

I am 27 years old, started smoking 3 years ago. I understand good health is priceless. It was just a question that I've been wanting to ask since I started checking this forum out 2 weeks ago after seeing so many members have a whole arsenal of vapers lol. I dont mean to offend anyone. Sorry if I did.

It's not a matter of offending, it's a matter of understanding. You were a light smoker, that isn't the norm around here. You are also looking at short term value. The $40, or whatever kit, you bought has a short life. I know because I've been there. Drop one of those cig alike batts, I bet it doesn't work anymore! I started with them, I wanted something I was used to to get started, it didn't take me long to figure out that didn't meet my life style at all. They don't run long, they aren't durable and they aren't as cheap as you are led to believe as they just don't live that long.
I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker, I got into RYO, I could make two cartons around $25, I'm not any better off in a financial aspect yet. I've finally settled on my device, a Provari ($190) and I've spent a lot of money, really haven't kept track, trying to find a good delivery system. I just made a purchase for $45 from a vendor buying a nicer tank and carto's for it, this should be around three months or so. I have a local vendor I can buy decent juice from, $17.50 for 64ml, this lasts me 2-3 weeks.
I still want another Provari, around $160 this time as I have batteries now, and consumables will continue, tanks wear out, carto's don't have the longest life and I seem to suck at the rebuildables!
But I'm not sucking down 60 cigs a day! It's what's important to you, and with my already failing/miserable health conditions, I've managed to work around my budget to make it work.

Some people just like to try new things. Its a blossoming industry and those are coming out all the time. When you look back at the history its gone from what equates to horse and buggy to Model T to the giant leap of Lamdorinis. My own progression has gone from ego c upgrade to the same in passthrough.. then VV.. and am now looking into mechanical mods so all I have to buy are batteries available everywhere for other purposes just to have a dependable backup. People go from atties and cartridges to cartomizers to tanks and clearomizers. Now rebuildable atties seem all the rage. Yes, some of it is hobby but mine has been strictly utilitarian and what I spend on hardware is far, far, offset by learning to DIY. I've gone from around $30.00 a month in juice to around $3.00 a month. And that part is a hobby. I love both cooking/baking and creating juices. Its a good question that many noobs bring up from time to time.... good to ask.

for me a pack of cigarettes cost 5.50... I smoked a pack a day.... So I now have about $2,500 to spend on vaping supplies to break even.... I've spent less than 1/3 of that.... So HUGE savings so far.

It's a fun hobby to try new items... And I'm saving money and my health, So why not?

Hi Ktazz. For myself, I smoked 2+ packs per day... My initial PV purchase was way over priced for the technology of the equipment in said kit. Even this "overpriced" kit was reasonably close in price for me to use, and continue using for almost four months. On the other hand this was now over 2 years ago and things absolultely have changed for the better. I found the ECF late in my vaping journey(while searching for a less expensive refill cartridge). This place has allowed me to learn about many things through the experience of others.

I do have many useable devices. I do have favorites among them. Unlike some I have no problem using any of my devices in public(I still cant justify having an "at home device")and they range from a itty bitty rn4081, which was my first device and rarely gets regular use, to my most used device which is a dual battery variable voltage mod.

I believe that some folks see this as a hobby, which is the way that I view it. I truly enjoy reading the adventures of other vapers. I do also enjoy seeing what other folks are vaping, both devices and their various feed systems. I find it hard to not try many things that other folks are shouting from the rooftops about...... I have found many of my favorite things at the suggestion of another Vaper. Thats why we are all here to help and support our fellows on this community.

I see many folks with multiple hundredplus dollar PV s, to which I say, good for you..... at least its not a few cartons of cigarettes......Enjoy.
