Question from REO noob REO Mini 2.0 18490

Saw your thread on the general forum. Saw you went with the provari. You are gonna love your Reo. I've noticed that people here don't badmouth other mods but you'll see why we love em so much. The super shorty is a good carto, just make sure you don't use a tiny drip tip.

Use the carto's while you shop and read up on the rba's. You'll like them even more.

Yes I did go with provari and I like it for lots of things, but thicker juices just don't work that well with a tank system. My goal was a fiddle-free all day vape but my favorite 100% VG juices clogs the cartos in tanks. The provari/tank thing works great on really light juices and just regular filled cartomizers. I plan to use both, but needed something I can vape on all day without high maintenance.

Frequently changing flavors with a Reo and cartomizers is not the best setup. It is easier with atomizers. It's hard to put into a short post w/o rambling. If I were you I'd carry both your pro-vari and the reo. Load the reo with a carto and your most favored juice and carry the pro-vari and whatever you've been using already for doing some quick flavor changes during the day. If you've been carrying five tanks around all the the time that shouldn't be a hassle.

Leave all your tanks at home, better yet - in the trash. Tanks suck. Every one I ever tried. Continuous hassle. I cuss myself for each one I've ever bought and wasted time fiddling with.

After you get used to the Reo check into these rebuildable atomizers (RBA's) everyone is talking about. They are what tanks are supposed to be. And with the reos bottom feeding capability I think it is the perfect setup. But I'd never jump right into them. That will come later.

What voltage/wattage and what ohm cartos/tanks have you liked on your pro-vari? That would help in suggesting what ohm cartos you might like on the reo since you don't vary the voltage on your model of reo...

As for switching flavors, if they are compatible types, such as caramel apple and ry4 or in the same type of flavor family, you can just drip when you want a change. It works well. Either drip right in through the drip tip if you're using an atty, or drip in the catch cup. Catch cup dripping only works well with regular atties - not cart or RBAs.

However, the easiest two ways are to swap out bottles. Just blow a bit through the tube to get rid of left over juice. I prefer to blow though the connector end after removing the atty. Just use a tissue at the end of the tube to catch the drips. But the easiest way by far to switch flavors is to just get more REOs.

I have one more question. With tanks and carts on other mods, I was always taught not to get juice in the atty in the center when I'm filling them. Doesn't squeezing from the bottom flood the atty?

Your welcome to send them back for a refund or exchange them . I dont like all the atomizers and cartomizers I have in stock . I carry some of them just because customers want them

I've been using smoktech 3.2ohm punched cartos in the tanks and firing at 4.3v. Seems to be the sweet spot for me.

I hope my math is correct... I play around with some VV stuff and on my reos I know what I like so I don't calculate this stuff anymore. But wattage = (volts times volts)/ohms. So you like (4.3x4.3)/3.2 = 5.8 watts. LOL, thats about what I like.

With your reo you'll probably be around 4 volt-ish, someone correct me if I'm wrong. An ohm rating of 2.6 or so should get you close to the same as what you call your sweet spot. But with a non-vv device the voltage does change somewhat over the life of the charge in your batteries.

If I read correctly the clear cartos on reosmods are 1.5ohm. With a 4 volt output from your batteries that'll come out at about 10 watts. That should be a little hotter than what you said your sweet spot was. But, by all means, give one a try. You might like it. 1.7 to 1.8 seems ideal to me when I'm not all wound up on the math involved. I can't explain the difference.

That's one of the cool things about the rebuildable atomizers - you can tweak them to be ideal for you. And you can adjust as you want without having to buy new ones. They're tiny to work with though. And risky. If you check out any vendor, they all put up all kinds of disclaimers about risks involved. Shorts and things like that.

I'd experiment with what you got and see what you think. You'll come to love the reo. I have a darwin, an old buzz, and one the the groove vv devices and I almost never use them. I own multiple Reos Dripping, refilling cartos, etc is too much hassle. Squonk and be happy. Comb thru the stickies here. There is a wealth of information. This is the most important post in this forum, IMO. And this is the friendliest/"most helpful" bunch of people you will ever meet.

I've never used cartomizers or tanks, but have flooded my share of atomizers...more back when I was solely dripping, I'm much better about it with my Reos. There is a learning curve to squonking, and I think the tendency at first is to squeeze the bottle much too hard. The catchcup is a help while you're learning how it's supposed to feel...dry is great, damp is OK, but a pool is not. But a flooded atomizer isn't a really big deal (though liquid in the mouth is pretty yucky), just blow it out and carry on.

Thank you Melissa and garyinco. The REO shipped today, so I am hoping for it Monday or Tuesday. This has been kind of an expensive journey so far, but quitting the cigarettes is the main goal, it will be worth it if I can find something that works. As a lazy smoker, it is too easy to contemplate going back to cigarettes for the no hassle thing, even though I enjoy vaping more. On the other hand, I've spent a good chuck of change now and am committed (or should be). I've had maybe 10 cigs since the whole thing started and it's been about a month, and that's a pack+ a day smoker.

Bro, you can't get a much simpler, more reliable system than a REO. You may also find that vaping is much more interesting than smoking, kinda like a hobby that provides a nic fix! Have you tried vaping unflavored nic yet? If not I highly recommend it. After smoking Marlboros for 20+ years, I just couldn't stand any of the "flavored" stuff. Unflavored provides a bland smoky taste that is the closest thing to cigarette smoke. All tobacco flavors taste like unburned cigarette tobacco. I find that ALL flavors in general have a funky perfumy vibe going on? That's why I run unflavored only.

For me, the things that truly made me give up smokes and never look back was:

1. Unflavored nic 24mg in 30%pg / 70% VG.
2. My REO mini 18490.
3. Smoktech 1.7 ohm supershort cartos.

I have since switched to RBAs and will never look back, the the first 2 will never change (except that I am using a grand now).

Hi Mike. I have used the lr cartos 1.7-2.0 and they provide a great vape on my grand. The cisco attys are great also. Once you learn squonking you are going to love your reo!!! There is nothing easier then filling your bottle up, carrying an extra batt, and a spare atty or carto, and you are good for the day.

This is the best bunch of people on the forum and they will help you out with any questions that come up. Welcome.

super_x: Yes, that is something I want to try. Although I will say there are 4 flavors from Johnson Creek I can't live without and I love them so much, I have 2 30ml's on hand all the time: Domestic, Swiss Dark, Silverthorn and Vanda. YUM! I had to lower the nicotine level sine I like them so much and vape them like crazy. You are right, I've got several 'cheap' juices that are really perfumy, and some of them aren't even vapable. Surprisingly, the vape shop in town has good juice too and they let you sample them for free.

jeapa: Thanks, that makes me feel better, I ordered a boat load of those carts so I am hoping they work well because i'm going to have them for awhile. Sounds like the danger of a burned atty are less in the REO than in tanks, that was a sore spot for me, I hate that!

Hope OP doesn't mind my barging into the topic........what is the time difference in vaping time between the 18490 and the 18560? Trying to decide between reo 2.1 or 2.0 and the reo grand...

I think mini (14500) is not going to work for me, I just get tired of changing out the batts. Loved the size though.

It will vary due to different vaping styles.

14500 @ 600 about 4 hours
18490 @ 1100 about 7 hours
18650 @ 1600 about 12 hours

The other thing you get with the Grand is the bigger 6ml bottle. Really nice to have!

I am with my 18490 in the poket along with my Mini 2.1 everytime.

the only thing I understand about batteries is that you must be careful when carrying them around. they should be in a case or something because if they touch coins, or keys or I guess anything metal they will burn in your pocket or purse!
