I saw a mention about battery drain with the kick here and I think it was answered elsewhere. The kick frequently checks the ohms of the atomizer vs. the voltage of the power supply so it can adjust applied voltage to give the desired wattage. As such there will be a constant, and supposedly small, drain on the battery (even when left unused). My kick-ready Phidias came with a little plastic disk to place between the battery and kick when not in use to prevent this drain. I'm no electrician nor am I knowledgable about the kick but this explanation makes sense to me.

I wish they would upgrade the kick to like 12 watts. I find 12 watts is my desired vape. I like ten as well but it leaves a little room for some wishing. I think I will be getting a kick next week because with the way my finances are looking, a VV Grand is out of the question. I did make a VV altoid tin mod that has functionality, but It sure as heck aint a reo lol.

Edit: I guess with a lower ohm atty I like around 10/11 watts so I guess the kick will work well for me as long as I use a 1.5-2.0 ohm atty. What do y'all use for a kicked grand setup?

@ your edit: Call me wrong, but the ohms of the atty are no longer relevant when we discuss watts rather than volts. Not to dismiss your question though. I have a few 3 ohm attys and mostly 1.8 ohm. Moving forward as I buy new attys I will be looking to higher ohms. see ps below

ps - to be clear ohms are still relevant when discussing watts but only to the point of battery life, how many hours you get per battery per charge. I felt that was a bit off topic so I made it a ps.

Before I got my Kick I loved 1.5 ohm attys with a fresh battery. With the Kick I am at 8.75 watts with standard ohm attys and its great.

I think it goes much further than battery life. I can vape at 10 watts with lower resistance more satisfactorily because to me LR atties are a bit harsher than HR. it is all in the variables, and not just in the wattage. Lower resistance coils provide a smaller surface area for vaporization, and higher resistance has a larger surface area. Of course yet another variable is the thickness of the resistance wire used. I think 2.5 ohm is just about right for me, as the kick tops out at 5.5 volts, regardless of what load you put on it. I like a 2.5 ohm at 5.2v so that is just over ten watts. So would that mean I get more or less battery life than LR?

I just ordered a kick and some 18490 batts this evening. I can't wait for it to get here! Next up on my list of wants is an ERA.

got some Dual Coil 2.5 carts on the way hope they vape well on my kicked grand it seems to be a cart killer LOL
I hope it rocks them! I think the problem people have had is that the kick checks it as 2.5 ohm, but with 2 coils you need about 1.5x the voltage to get both coils hitting on all cylinders. If you like your vape around 7 watts, and turn it up to 10 it should work great.

You'll probably see a significantly shorter battery life between recharges, too.

A nice avantage of the Kick or a VV Grand is how they handle attys that are dying. I'm using a Joye 510 that when new was metered at 2.3 ohms. I've used this atty for about 2-3 weeks. About 3 days ago I metered it again and now its reading 1.1 ohms but the vape is still going strong and I notice no difference from new to old. This is with a Kicked Grand. Extending the life of attys is a good thing.

I was thinking I would have a kick in my mailbox today but no such luck. Tomorrow is a new day though:thumbs:. I started making my kickstand today. I am using two thin pieces of flat plastic, and sandwiching them together with hot glue. I find hot glue is a very forgiving thing to work with. I hope it works out well. Pics when I am done.
