I am a newbie and thought i would tinker with a rebuildable and having some trouble with vapor production. I after 4 tries have gotten a coil firing well just not getting a lot of vapor production is that normal?
I have a 5-6 wrap coil only coming out on my vamo at 1.2 ohm. Doesnt semm to work worth a crap on my vamo it will fire once and reads lo ohm and then only comes out at 1-1.1. So i stuck it on a mechanical mod at 3.7 volts and got it working great just no vopor.

Any suggestions to a newbie

Look on youtube for pbusardo. He shows some techniques for rebuilding the AGA-Ts that you might find really helpful. A link to one of his videos is: A PBusardo Review - The AGA-T(s) - Part 2 - Assembly & Building Tutorial - YouTube Hope that helps. :)

I am new to this as well and I had the same problem. I drilled 2.3mm air hole and 3.5mm wick hole in the RBA and works like a charm. Huge clouds of vapour 70/30 pg/vg. Bigger hole for wicking and bigger air hole for vapour.

While I haven't had a lot of rba experience and you did not list other specifics, as previously mentioned . . . Based on my own experience using #400, #500 SS mesh with 30g Kanthal A-1, it appears that your resistance is low with a 5/6 wrap, as well. I am getting about 1.7/1.8 ohms with a 5/6 coil.

Wrap another coil and be sure to wrap the coil around the wick snug enough without choking it. I initially purchase a 100 ft roll of 30g Kanthal. So, I have plenty of material to practice my coil making technique . . . Practice, practice, practice.

Eventually, the so called light bulb will pop on for you and you will be making coils quickly and easily. Take your time tuning your coils, as well. Work out the hotspots prior to filling the tanks. Since I love to tinker, I enjoy tweaking the coils.

I trust that your RBA experience is a very enjoyable and productive one . . . Enjoy.

I had this same issue with my AGA, great choice by the way ended up being an amazing atty. I had afew issues. It seams like that no matter how many wraps I use (with 30g) I'm always at 1.2 so use like a 3-4 wrap, this will help it hear up faster. The vg/pg mix can also play a huge part in how it vapes, yes it is true that VG makes more vaper however it's so thick that it seems to not wick as well as like a 70pg/30vg. Also your wick size makes a difference, everyone one has there own opinion, my set up is about 2 inches wide and 2 inches tall wrapped around a paper clip, 3/4 wrap of 30g and 70/30 juice. Hope that helps

As my eyes are not as youthful and my hands are not as nimble than most, I asked myself this question, "Why am I trying to make a coil with the wicked installed in the RBA?" It was too difficult for me to produce a coil, which was even across the wick, while the said was installed in the RBA. So, moving forward, I wrapped the wick in hand. This was a better method for myself. It yielded evenly spaced coils across the wick without any fuss and frustration. I also had better control over the tension, which i was applying to the wick, as i was wrapping it. YMMV

For the T+, i have worked out the measurement for my wick: #500 mesh, 45 mm tall, 70 mm wide. Rolled a 45mm tall wick (so roll across width). Roll it, squeeze it, make it as tight as you can, and it should fit beautifully into the wick hole. It also fits just lightly enough that you barely if ever have hot spots.

I no longer oxidize. Just stick the wick in, wrap your coil right on the device, and fire as you check for hot spots. If you do it right, it takes 1 minute for the coil to put a very light oxidization on the surface of the wick, and youre good to go.

I hope you clean your wick. You need to clean the factory machine oils off if you don't oxidize.

Ya sorry should have included details on what i was doing. It is a 400 mesh with 30 ga wire. i did take it apart clean everthing and made my own wick ( used a pre wrapped/oxidized wick before). i wanted to use it on my vamo but cant get the ohms high enough to use it. soo i used a mech mod at 3.7 volts and adjusted the new coil and wrap and enjoyn the rba. Not as warm or as much vape as i would like but still nice.

Where is the best place to get mesh and wire at a good price?

EBay. 100 ft of wire for $8.70 plus free shipping. You'll feel less stressed wrapping coils with wire that didn't cost you 3 bucks per foot from your local vape shop. Ebay for the mesh also. I do a paper thin cotton layer around the mesh that came with my Aga T-2. Gonna last me a while.. Ofcourse i oxidized and cleaned it with dish washing soap but For some reason I would get headaches from SS mesh.(does this happen for anyone else? ) well the cotton layer resolved that issue for me. It's to bad though because I find myself re coiling more often since I can't dry burn it. I'm sure I'll set up differently in the future but it's what's working for me right now, kinda strayed away from silica wick but still got a grip of it left and I'm not to afraid to use it. Still early for me in building but I know what a hot spot looks feels and taste like, and I don't call it no throat hit! Oh yeah like I was saying ... eBay. Cheers!!

i did only been vaping 4 1/2 months. Thought it would be fun to tinker with an rba. There not as scary as you think. It may take you longer at first i built 4 coils or 5 until i got it to work correctly. The problem is so many people have so many different ways of doing things. try a couple of ways and then try your own way it just trial and error with them but when you get it right they work great and the flavor is awsome.
