I've only been experimenting with DIY for a couple weeks. I like RY4 juices. I got my first bottle of AP today. I was mixing up an RY4 batch. mixed the RY4 at 10% and the AP at .5%. with that ratio, all I taste and smell is the AP. it was horrible. Looking over some recipes I've found here on the forum, it looks like most are mixing at 1%. I could not imagine what that would be like in the juice I made tonight. the AP is TFA.
I have not steeped the juice. Will the AP blend and weaken with Steeping? Do I need to use a diluted solution of AP?
Not sure what I did wrong.

I put 2 drops in 20 ML and it was awful. I then mixed another 20ml batch identical but without the AP. put the 2 together and it still seems strong. I usually use RY4 double, but somehow ended up with plain RY4. it smells strong of AP right from the bottle. I dont remember the double flavoring being that strong. I have a big bottle of RY4 Double flavor coming tomorrow. I'll compare. I'm going to try 1 drop of AP in 30ml of my mix.

I've never used the plain RY4 from TFA, but that being said I haven't heard a lot of positive things said about it. I believe some if not all RY4 mixes do already have AP added. It is very possible regular has it already in it, possibly a high amount. I have tried the Asian RY4 and don't really like it (it's ok but I wouldn't order it again). My dropper doesn't produce big drops, I believe it's about 40 drops per ml. I use 1 drop per 5ml and to me it's just right in RY4D. One thing I would do if you already haven't, is to make sure you give the AP bottle a good shake to make sure it's well mixed. Also I use mine full strength, the 5% solution without dilution. Hope some of that helps. :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

It all depends on what taste your trying to get. I don't usually put AP in an ry4 mix or any sweet mix for that matter as that just don't agree with my taste. RY4 is susposed to be a sweet caramel tobacco taste. AP is used to bring out a nutty taste in a tobacco such as a 555, highway, T5 or add some nuttyness to an ashy tobacco such as a m-type or an american red. Others use it to enhance bakery and desert vapes. The flavor description of AP is a nutty taste at the right percentage and a burnt corn chip taste at to high a percentage. It should impart the taste of freshly roasted peanuts.

So I would suggest to test if it's a bad batch of AP you have or your taste not agreeing with AP, get yourself some premixed highway, t5 (hangsen flavorings) or a 555 blend (Just about every MFG makes it) and try that alone. If you hate it then you got your answer that the taste just doesn't agree with you. If you love it then there's something wrong with your AP.

I tend to order large bottles of flavors I think I'll like only to find out I don't (AP being one of them), and small bottles of flavors I'm not sure of (caramel cappuccino) that I find I love.

However, after reading through this thread, I may (at some point) give it another shot. The problem is, I have soooo many other flavors (that I haven't tried yet) that the AP may go bad by the time I get around to it. Anyone know the shelf life? It's already 6 months old.

I don't like the AP at higher amounts either (like 1%). It takes over the mix for me. I also hate how imprecise working with drops is. So, I mix my AP (the 5% stuff) in PG at 10%, then use that at 2 or 3% in my tobaccos. Then I'm ending up with .2 or .3% of the AP, and I can fine tune the amount much more than I ever could with drops.

Of course I'm actually ending up with much less than .3%, since I started with TPA's 5% solution.

I don't know... maybe my taste buds are just obtuse, but my AP is older than 6 months (probably older than 1yr actually), and I don't notice any change in the taste of it. It's just some chemical/artificial flavor, not a fresh fruit extract or something. I wouldn't expect it to go bad easily.
