I just had a quick question on extraction. I have never extracted anything with PG or VG before, but I have been making my own extracts with grain alcohol and whatever I want flavor of for years. So that being said, is the process about the same? Can Just toss whatever you want flavor of into a bottle of pg and let it sit till you think its ready? Also, I know some things can be eaten but shouldn't be vaped, Is there anything (herbs, spices, and fruit) that I should not try to get some flavor out of? I wana try my hand at DIY but I would like to extract my own flavors instead of buying flavorings from someone. Would this route be generally safe, or should I just go buy some flavoring instead? I am trying to soak up all the knowledge I can.

I have had wonderful results with coffee, coarsely ground, in vg. I have also used ground coffee from the store in regular grind... it is just more time consuming to filter when decanting.

I like it strong, so 6 weeks or longer is right for me. I use the same measure of ground coffee as I use to make a pot, in about 4 oz VG. Shake it weekly and leave it up in a cupboard. I strain it using paper coffee filters when it is time to decant it. Filtering it is a slow process, the coffee filter clogs with sediment so it needs to be replaced. I found this stage to be the only hard part of the process, well, not hard, but time consuming. I use a small funnel atop a smallish glass bottle or cup. I fold the coffee filter into quarters to make a cone to fit the funnel. (I have only the round filters). I only strain about an ounce at a time, which generally catches enough fine sediment to clog the filter. While it filters, I go out to the garden or I will stand there and worry it to death. I check it in an hour or so, and change out the filter to do the next ounce.

This is just what I do, you may find an easier or faster way. It makes a wonderful, but very strong coffee base.

I did not like the way my green tea turned out using this method. I also tried kinnick-kinnick and it was horrid.

Some herbs lend themselves well to this process, I have never tried fruits.

Hope this helps.

Brightest Blessings!

Thanks for the Info, A coffee with vanilla bean sounds good.

Yes, I add french vanilla to mine. I leave a bit of wiggle room in the bottle when mixing. Each batch I have made turns out just a tiny bit different, some stronger, some weaker. Fine for me as a home brewer, but would not be good for a professional.
