Hmm. Shouldn't be anything over the coil to give it a funky taste. What I would do is empty it out, rinse it under warm water to get out residual juice, then shake excess water out, dry it off on the outside, then attach it to a battery and give it a dry burn (push the button for about 5 seconds, then let sit for 20-30 seconds; repeat until coil glows red and has burned off any gunk that may have been attached to it, as evidenced by the presence of white ash). Blow out any of the ash, then try refilling and using. I'm thinking the coil might be fouled somehow. Also make sure that the hole you cut in the silicone of the mouthpiece fits properly over the coil cup.

Will do, thanks. Have new order in post box from Canvape when I get home. Have more Extremes, boges and a smoketech dual tank.

Really curious how the boges and smoketech will perform. Not too sure what I should run at 3.2, 3.7 or 4.7

Cheers

I'm expecting a little packet from there in my mailbox when I get home as well. :) The Boges and SmokTechs should do fine at between 3.2 and 4.2, the Boges in particular will do better at 4.2. SmokTech duals will suck battery life like nobody's business but should still work fine.

No need to apologize- we are all here learning IMO. I've DIY approx. 9000 ml juice.
"Generally" pre made juices are 70/ 30 PG/ VG or 80/ 20 PG/ VG
PG= TH, Lung Hit and flavor enhancer
VG= vapor
Nicotine= TH, Lung Hit and our need for nic.
If someone wants more VG then because it's thick and doesn't flow properly some will add a small amount of PGA, vodka or distilled water. Some say these give a TH while others say it adds harshness and is not nice- don't know as I've never used them.
My mixes started out at the above #'s and that's what I mix for friends but, for myself, I now mix a 60/ 40 PG/ VG and add in extra flavor because I enjoy the vapor but also the flavor.
So from what I understand you're mixing flavors + nic PG based juice?
My nic juice is PG based as it's easier to work with than VG based nic. Are you using a calculator?

He's not DIY'ing, he mixing pre-mixed juices he has bought somewhere. His bases are probably 50/50.

Thanks Mindfield, will run on high first and see from there, at times I find vaping at 3.2 makes it all taste better.

Thats correct, I'm not DIY. I simply take my juice and put some of this and some of that and a touch of that - lol.

Yes they are all 50/50 PG stock flavors I presume from the suppliers.

I hate to disagree with you Mind as you have a ton more experience and time than i do with vaping, but cleaning these puppies out with water is a horrible idea.

The partially sealed off compartment for the heating element makes evaporating water a huge PITA. As probably no one here uses distilled water to clean off their products, we all know tap water contains minerals, which in turn will rust said element inside.

I find using 94% PGA(Everclear or Alcool) or even regualr vodka as a cleaning agent goes alot better and prevents any possible rusting. The alcohol dilutes/cleans any gunk better than regular water would and the higher the % in alcohol, the faster it will evaportate.

I have had the unfortunate experience of vaping a rusted coil ... not a pleasant one i must say.

That's the reason for the dry burn session. It vaporizes the remaining moisture and burns gunk off the coil. I generally only give it an alcohol or mild acid bath (using vinegar or lemon/lime juice) if it's been in use for a week or so and is fairly gunked up. Even after the bath I rinse it under the tap and the go through a few dry burn cycles until it burns a nice clean orange and you can clearly see the coil windings. This only works for atomizers and CE2s though. You can't dry burn cartos so you have to resort to other means, and here is where an alcohol/mild acid bath and distilled water rinse is more important as it's much more important that you get as much crap out of there as possible since you can't rely on a dry burn to burn the crap off.

Rinse with rubbing alcohol.

then do a wet burn (preferrably with VG - a drop on the bridge - press your manual button and take short fast puffs).

Mindfeild - dry burning is a good way to murder an atty. If you`ve found a way to perfect a technique with it and it works for you - you may just be a bit of a genius at it. For others - it`s the step just before the atty graveyard. ..

I totally agree on water and dry burning for Atty's, but this guy had clearly stated he was using a Vision. I only ever use PGA for my cartos.

Really don't want to hijak this topic, but how would one clean a eGo-T atty then and how often?

Never actually used a eGo-T atty myself, but i think they have some sort of center pin that dips into the container. If that's the case, you'd probably have to piece it appart and expose the coil.

Then the rinse/dry burn still applies.

The same thing happened to my first Vision that I modded. I think it is the wicks not having enough juice on them and I got that same taste.
I stopped using it immediately as it was a horrible taste.
I looked into it further and determined the hole I had cut for the mouthpiece wasn't big enough and was choking off the wicks. (I think)
I used the second Vision without modding it and found it much easier and better tasting.
I will have to cut the hole alittle bigger on the firsat one and give it another shot.

Very carefully, with lots of aspirin. Those things are such a pain to clean.

All I can really recommend is don't take it apart if you don't have a backup, or if you don't really know what you're doing. And DON'T dry burn, the atty will just end up tasting horrible.

Another FYI ...

Isopropyl Alcohol isnt meant to be ingested ... i dont know the chemical justification for it, but i know that PGA is safe to ingest, which is why i use it instead. That and the alcohol content is at 94% vs 78%, meaning it evaporates quicker.

Just my :2c:

The eGo-T atty is easily cleaned once you have done it once. You need a set of slim, heavy duty tweezers with loop handles to pop out the piercing plate and you can stick it back on the tank and insert the tank to re-seat it. The plate is a press fit and it pops out and goes back in easily. The video below demonstrates how the cleaning process is done. Vicki owns Cignot, a major supplier in the Chicago area.

I've honestly only ever lost three coils in my life. The first was 5 seconds after taking it out of the box, brand new, because it was defective. (The vendor kindly shipped me 3 new atties to make up for it though, so that was awesome.) The second was a cheap SmokTEch 510 kit that the same thing happened to on one of the atomizers. The third was an eGo-C atomizer module recently, but that died of its own accord less than a day after using it, and it worked horribly even when it was working, so it was probably a bum module to begin with. I've never lost an atty or clearo to dry burning. I just make sure to dry burn in a similar fashion to vaping -- that is, ~5 second burn, 30+ second pause, so that the Nichrome/Kanthal is stressed the same way it is when vaping. No blowing on the coil until it is cool, no rapid burn/stop/burn cycles (at least 30 second pause between burns), as these last two are most likely to pop the coil.

Visions aren't much different than atomizers. They just lack a bridge, and the coil is up top. Technically Visions (and any CE2 really) are easier to clean because it's easier to see the coil directly rather than have to infer cleanliness by the reflected glow like you do in standard atomizers. The important bit here is that Visions, like all CE2s, have no polyfill, so they can take a rinsing and a dry burn.
