I just got into rebuilable atomizer and I'm still very confused. And I've looked on here and didn't see an answer. But if this is a repost. I'm sorry. :(

I have a nemesis (clone, I think...). It uses a 37 amp battery. That much I know.
I also have an authentic (dunno if that matters?) Zenith. Version 2 I think.

I am also getting a Russian 91% by the end of the week. I just miss my tank.

Anyways, I think that is all the background that might be needed for this question.

My Zenith, the guy at the shop built the coil setup for me. So I haven't actually done that yet. And I was wondering, for a 37 Watt battery, what should my goal range for ohm be? I am not a cloud chaser, I like flavor. And I don't like it too warm. I'll have my ohm reader in a day or two and need to build for the Zenith and for my new Russian. And about how many wraps for each with a 26 guage wire. I also have 30 gauge wire.

And if there are any links to articles or a YouTube video that better explains ohms and batteries I'd appreciate it.

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

What does your battery actual say? You are confusing terms that are important. I personally would advise you to checkout the link below and at least have a basic understanding of how the coil affects the draw on your battery. This is super important so that you don't blow a finger off or take one to the face.

My battery is green, and it is a Sony battery. We got it at our local Vape shop.

I'll look for his blog.

And so I need both an ohm reader and a voltmeter? I'm unfamiliar with the second.

Sorry I'm so new and clueless. The Vape shop we went to was busy, so we never got a chance to really learn some crucial stuff. We just bought them, he built my coil, and then we left. He was alone in the shop.

There is no law that says you have to build your coils to super sub-ohm specs just because you're using a mechanical mod or you have a high amp capable battery. If you're not a cloud chaser and you are interested in flavor, why not try a 1.0 (plus or minus) ohm coil and see what you think?

I *think* the one he built me is .7 or .8

I will do that then, try a 1.0 ohm or close to it. As long as it is safe.

I have alot of reading to do, lol

Much research and time spent learning can't hurt if you care to figure tings out for yourself, at least learn the basics for your personal safety and familiarize with the parts that your planning to use otherwise it could be difficult to get started.

Youtube and the forum are loaded with all the answers to these questions you asked. It's not rocket science and just takes a little thought and practice.
Your battery is what? give the details:which make, size(18650,18350), #'s-to my knowledge there is no 37amp/watt battery for a nemesis:confused:

Start by building single coils and watch vids to learn how to do it well, maybe start with your 30 gauge wire till you've had some practice and aim for good surface area(7 or 8 wraps)on a screwdriver or drill bit of 2-3mm. The 26 gauge will put you in the sub ohm range immediately.I don't recommend sub-ohming until you really have the hang of building 1.5 to 2 ohm coils or higher

When you receive the Russian 91% the same technique you can practice on the Zenith will work well with it's build deck. Decent microcoil build, nice wicking and good airflow should produce the flavor your after and plenty of vapor depending on the juice you use. What is the nic strength?

Really, there is all the answers here on the forum. take your time and enjoy it. How long since you started vaping? Were you a cig smoker for a long time?

It is a 30amp 18650. I was mistake about the 37. Sorry.

I will definitely be researching. I don't want to do something stupid.

I'm 26, started smoking about 17,18 years old. As for vaping, i started with a simple e cig, that went bad. Went back to smoking. Got one of those Vape pens, had issues with the battery unit. And with getting enough of the coils to last me. Went back to smoking. Then my husband was given a nemesis with a mephesto. I tried it, and liked it. I was sick of smoking and had just had an overnight stay for double pneumonia and bronchitis a week or so before he got his. Kinda scary. So since Oct. 21st we haven't touched a cigarette. Haven't even craved it. Wish I had found rbas first. I do 6mg of nicotine.

You need to do your research. There's a plethora of information on how to build safely and it is easy to find. You must must MUST be very knowledgable on battery safety, ohms law, and knowing how to build. The great thing is that there is a massive community of vapers who want to help others stay safe. Ohms Law calculators can be found online or in free apps for your smartphone. A Google search for "understanding ohms law" will go a long way.
Check out Rip Trippers YouTube channel for a wealth of information for beginners and advanced users.
You have a mechanical mod (mech mod) in the nemesis and that is dangerous for someone who isn't experienced with building. A regulated mod like the iTaste SVD, Hana mod, or IPV2 are better options for you. And safer.
Check out steamengine for accuracy on wrapping and building your own coils. It's not the easiest site to grasp but neither is building your own coils safely.
Your battery sounds dubious at best. Go to RTD Vapor or Lighthound and buy an AW (brand) 18650 (size) 2200 Mah (capacity) battery. It provides 20 amps continuous output of power. You probably won't need more than 10 amps of continuous output but especially with using mech mod I think rather give yourself a safety net. The 2000 Mah batteries from AW are 10 amp batteries and will probably serve you just fine if you don't build too much lower than 1 ohm. A cheaper and reliable option is the Efest purple batteries. There is a 2500 mah battery which says it is 35 amps (peak). It is actually a 20 amp continuous discharge battery and it a good reliable battery.
As for building your first coil - using the 30 gauge Kanthal A1 do 7 wraps on a 2.4 mm screwdriver or drill bit. This is equivalent 3/32 of an inch. WATCH A RIP TRIPPER video first showing you exactly how to get it right. Make sure you have the right tools and DO NOT use it until your ohm meter has arrived and you have reliable batteries. You can easily hurt yourself if you don't.

Note: you can use 18350, 18500, or 18650 size batteries. Use a reliable brand and make sure the CONTINUOUS amp rating is a minimum of 10 amps. For sub-ohms use 20 amps or higher.

I am subscribed to Rip Trippers. Been watching his stuff alot for the last two weeks.

I am on a budget, but I will look into one of the suggested. I've heard of Hana. I wish the guy who sold me my nemesis had explained all this.

I will use the calculator when I build a coil on my Russian later this week. I'll have the ohm reader by then.

And I will get a new battery, and now I'm scared of the one I have. I was going since we got them at an actual Vape shop they'd be good. I do have a 3/32 drill bit.

That sounds like you made the right decision and are off to a good start this time since you found something you like now! Well you may like regulated mods as suggested with a good tank system or atty to give you control of that warm tasty vapor. Mech mods and coil building are more for the dedicated or more advanced vaper and are honestly very time consuming for a younger person like yourself.

I use mech and atty's of all sorts and have embraced the hobby side of it all. You may settle in better with equipment that is easier and safer at this point as long as you are getting the satisfaction factor from the vaping.

You kinda missed out on the great tank systems that require no building like the Nautilus from Aspire and VV VW devices such as a dna 30 box mod. imo this might give you better service that what you have at this point and vaping 6mg strength is fine in your atty at lower ohms if you feel the urge to create.

Best of luck to you

your green sony battery is either a vtc4 or vtc5 which is rated at 30 amps. your that battery will safely support a .2 ohm resistance with a little bit of head room. Since you are more concerned with flavor and not clouds you wont be building anything that low anyway. .8 is a pretty good level for flavor. you will need your ohm reader to measure the resistance of the coils when they are installed into your zenith. build one coil first install it then measure the resistance. if it is around 1.7 or so then you build an identical coil, install that then measure your resistance again. This second coil should divide your first reading in half.

Both me and my husband are intrigued by the idea of building, and having control. Being able to tinker. I know he is excited to try different coil builds. Me, I'm just going to keep it simple at first.

And I have be relaying all of what you guys have been telling me and we are making a list of what we need to change. And why we need to research better.

For dripping I think it's a matter of taste versus cloud...but I'm not a cloud chaser so I can't say for sure. But I do know that (my preference) on my Kayfun (looks like the Russian) I like it around 1.2 to 1.4 ohm. Just my :2c: ...for what it's worth.

I was looking at the Kayfun. Then saw reviews that said the Russian was an identical product. You can even interchange their parts. Which is cool, cause there is more ways to customize the look once I've gotten all the equipment I need to do all this safely. Rip Trippers did a review of the Russian and loved it. Even said it was better then the Kayfun. I was looking into the Kraken too, but ended up going with a bigger tank.

That is very helpful! I was wondering about that. I will definitely be making for a. 8 or maybe a 1.0 when I do the Russian.
