I've got a couple of VV devices now. But most of my AGA's are around 1.2 - 1.5 ohms and will not work in the VV devices. Too low resistance.

So I've got SS mesh and .28 wire. I'm doing like 4-5 wraps usually. Last night I did like 6 wraps of .28 and same thing. I can't get the resistance up.

Is there any way to get the resistance up with SS mesh and .28g Kanthal? I can't seem to fit more coil wraps on the thing without them being stuck together.

I do not like cotton or silica, otherwise I would do a micro coil.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

AGA T atomizers and a Sigelei Zmax mini and a Vamo V2

Well that makes sense. The ZMax and Vamo V2 will only fire down to 1.5 ohms. Anything lower and it won't fire.

Not sure about your budget or anything, but I would suggest getting an MVP 2 (40-45$) or a Vamo V5 if you like the V2 (I paid 29$ for my V5 from Fasttech and had it delivered in 13 days).

Or, if you're into them, you can get a Mechanical and not have to worry about any low-load limitations. My HCigar Nemesis was only 36$ shipped from CodeVape on Ebay.

Other than that, You'll just have to increase the resistance of your coils by either increasing the gauge or increasing the wraps.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about cotton? Cotton is the puriest taste I've gotten (although, to be fair, I've never tried mesh)

I absolutely can not stand the taste of cotton. I don't know if organic vs non organic matters (I think that's in peoples heads but I could be wrong), but it just seems to have a weird taste to it. I have a microcoil in a KFL and a Russian 91 with cotton, and again, a weird taste. Not burning but just yuk. They just don't vape like the AGA's IMO. I got the Vmax mini for it's compact size. I have a Hammer mod, 2 Naturals, ATOM APV, and a Caravela mod. The Vamo V2 and the Vmax mini are my first dive into VV territory. But I only have 4 atty's that will work with them. I suppose I should just shut up and be satisfied with what I have, but I'm an American, nothing is good enough. :-x

Lol I know the feeling. I have 50 bottles of juice, a Vision Spinner, Vamo V5, MVP 2, and Nemesis. I also have roughly 25 tanks, ranging from Kanger Evod and Protank Mini 2, to Hypertank, Igo-W and Kayfun Lite. I'm happy with what I have, but I'm always looking for my next purchase lol. Next month for sure is an Aqua. We'll see what else I "have to" have before April lmao.

I use organic cotton. Haven't boiled it, but I know the cotton aftertaste you're talking about. Boiling the cotton in distilled water supposedly gets rid of that taste. I'll try it on my next build, but unboiled has been perfectly fine for me. To each their own though lol. Taste is subjective so there's never going to be something thats good for everyone.

Like I've said, I've never tried mesh. It's still too intimidating for me lol. I don't want to mess with mesh until I get a genny, but I don't want to buy a genny cause I don't know how to work with mesh. It's a viscious cycle

Mesh is a horror show. I have like 30 hours in, no lie and now I can build those SOB's in no time. But I like .28 kanthal.

With .32 I burn the wire getting the unit to work right, that's why I like .28 but the post isn't high enough to get a lot of wraps. I did finally do one a little while ago with 6-7 wraps of .28 that came out to 1.5 ohms and works with the Zmax. I'm just surprised these devices can't go down to 1 ohm.

Lmao exactly why I'm hesitant on messing with mesh.

When I bought my Vamo V5, I had no idea of ohms law or regulated resistance levels. I was surprised to find out through videos I watched waiting for delivery that it only fires down to 1.2 ohms. At the time, I was fine with it since I was only vaping for 2 weeks and had no interest in low/sub ohms. Then I bought my MVP 2 because I started recoiling my Protank Mini heads. The coils I first wrapped were ~1.8, but I quickly got down to 0.8-1 ohm. I bought the MVP 2 because I liked the box style, it had ridiculous battery life, and it could fire down to 0.8. Now I refuse to use a pre-made coil, and build microcoils exclusively. I still don't plan on going under 0.5, but I needed something that would fire what I made lol. Enter the Nemesis. My new love

Sometimes working with mesh can be problematic. Are you oxidizing the mesh before wrapping it? Sometimes I've run into issues where my wire is shorting to the mesh. It's more difficult if you don't have a device that can fire the coil so you can check for hot spots and adjust the coil.

I use a mapgas torch on the crap. 2" x 1.5" of mesh. Burn the hell out of it, roll it, burn it again. Wrap about 3/8" x 1" of cigarette paper over the end of wick. wrap the .28g wire around the cigarette paper, assemble, burn off the paper. Wet wick with juice, fill the tank, vape. After about 20 hits, thing works like a damn champ. The hardest part for me is the center post and putting on the top nut and tightening it enough somehow without spinning the center post and messing up the coil. Pisss poor design. I converted one today with a spring and washer and it's the best idea I've seen for these things.
