As near as I can tell from my reading here and several other web sites, the FA tobaccos are quite potent. It was recommended somewhere else, especially when working in small quantities like for the initial test batches, to dilute it down a good bit while working with it. For the FA tobacco concentrate, it recommended diluting it down to about 1%, which the instructions I found have you diluting it down to 10% and from there down to 1% in two steps (I think primarily for ease of mathematical computations and consistency).

My question comes between the 10% to 1% dilution. Is it necessary to let the original 10% mixture set so the base and flavoring can blend/meld/marry or whatever it is they do with time, or can I immediately take it down to the 1% solution? Do I then have to let the 1% set before I mix it with other flavors?

Um, never did that.

Using FA tobacco I experiment with 10ml batches. I know it's quite high for experimenting, but I have found that working small does not scale up worth a bean. (There is always someone in my close circle of vapers that will take my batches that I don't think are worth a hoot.)

But, if I were to do the dilution, yes I would give the dilution a hot bath and sit for a day, with shaking when possible, before I went to the next step. Making those jumps means you are just moving a decimal point, so the math should be pretty easy.

You'll have to check in with your first few experiments and let me know how it went.

The flavors are already in a PG base so if you dilute to 10% in PG and shake thoroughly it should not take more than a few minutes to disperse well enough to not be able to tell the difference. You shouldn't be mixing with the 1% solution, as that would make it far less than 1%. Even though the guys at FA themselves recommend very low percentages, your average person will want at least 2-3% on even the strong flavors. If you find you need 0.5% just dilute it to 5% first instead and then use that mixture at 10%.

On a side note, yay for % signs.

Another yay for % signs also.......

I got a few FA tobacco's and they are proving difficult to play with to an extent. They recommend 1% or 2% for most, but that is pretty low. What's maddening to me, is their flavor seems to mellow way too much after a couple days. I mixed Desert Ship at 2%, and it was very good right away, but after a couple days, it's very mellow and almost sweet (which is probably due to my 50% VG). Same with the CamT Ultimate....it was very good at 8% right away, but has become very weak after a couple days. I'm guessing I need to go with more flavor, but it seems strange to have to use so much more than seems recommended.

Have you had better luck with any other company's tobacco flavors? I'm looking to make a some version of a RY4, so I'm okay with the tobacco taking a seat in the back of the bus. In addition, I had gotten the Flavour Art tobacco previously and hadn't done anything with it. Then I happened to get some FSUSA tobacco flavors, and I can't vape them as all I get is an overwhelming taste of smoke (I know...FSUSA sacrilege); being that they mix with the FA stuff, I was a little worried that even the 1% would be too strong.

Of course, if your FA is dissipating that much flavor-wise, maybe I should revisit Wyatt and see if he's smoothed out in the last two weeks since I tossed him in the dark hole that I keep for my "not that desperate yet" stuff.

The only other tobacco that I've played with is the Tobacco Absolute. This works pretty well and is a very good base to use with other flavors. I'm still messing with it, but it provides a pleasant tobacco flavor even straight mixed with nic/PG/VG. Add some of your favorite flavor and it's pretty good.

My suspicion with FSUSA is they use much more than the recommended % with the FA tobaccos. I got in on their sale a couple weeks ago and ordered 5 tobaccos. I had to let them sit for a few days before they were vapable as they seemed very strong to me. If you factor in shipping time, they probably needed a week overall. I then ordered a few FA tobacco flavorings myself and am working with them and there's no way they are using the 1% or 2% recommended. With the exception of Desert Ship (it is very strong) the CamT and Latakia need at least 8% and probably more.

Give your FSUSA tobacco's a try again...I do the same thing with juices, if I don't like them they go into a dark hole and get discovered a week later with the hope they taste better.

I found that the harshness some folks experience negates itself after 6-8%. I flavour with tobacco between 10-14%. This is where IMO they really start to shine, and where their true "bouquet" surfaces.

That's what I'm trying now. I'm going to start at 10% and work up from there. Got a couple 10% batches resting now and will give them a try tomorrow.

Have you tried Desert Ship, switched? To me that one is more potent; just curious what you mixed that at.
