I wish the DIY subforum had its own classies.

Is Flavor West very different than FlavourArt? Same strength, just different flavors, or does it taste completely different?

Totally different companies and flavors. Flavour Art tends to be much more concentrated as most of their flavours are strong at 5% and below. Many of them are good at 2%. Flavor West tends to go by percentages similar to those found in Capella and TPA.

For those curious about FlavourArt flavorings and their strength / those who plan on ordering a few (or a few dozen), listen to the others. FlavourArt flavoring is indeed very concentrated.

When I started DIY, I too thought they were like every other company I'd tried in the past so I decided to mix Cookie at 15%, I choked. Not only was it overpowering, it was disgusting; it was nothing like what I was expecting. By browsing feedback from others, I found that FA is just one of those companies that do things right. It's not that TPA, FW or others are bad (I've never tried VZ yet), but they are weaker by margins. For some that works, but I feel that FA offers better value for an extra $2-$2.50 maybe $3 on top of what I normally pay for my flavoring.

To date, I've tried about 20-25 flavors from FA and I can't think of one that is mixed at over 5-6% tops. Most are mixed in the 2-4% range because they are potent. So potent that what you smell in the bottle throws you off because 9/10 times your vape and the smell coming from the bottle are totally different (Vienna Cream is a prime example). Those that mix them higher, honestly I'd wonder how damaged their taste buds are, seriously.

....And it's nothing against those who don't have super taste buds or those that need the extra flavoring. Smoking does a ton to your body so it happens. But those are some relatively high numbers on that list :).

Oh ....... 2 hours ago I mixed test bottles at 10% with Vienna cream, licorice, tiramisu, cookie, hypnotic myst, and banana ;(

Just reading this thread now lol.. should have gone 5% max then ;)

Careful there! Tiramisu at 5% would be still too strong, believe it or not. It's one of my favorites at 3%. I like it best at 1.5% with an additional 1.5% of Fresh Cream and 1.5% Vanilla Classic. That's very flavorful and still only 4.5% total flavoring. Yum!

I just cardamom flavor along with cinnamon hoping to make Chai Tea. Could anyone suggest the proper % for any of these flavors. Thanks.

I start with 5ml base and one drop of each spice I wanted (about 5 spices), one of Honey, two of Fresh Cream. Once that smelled and (literally) tasted right, I added drops of Black Tea to my desired strength (probably about 5-6 drops). I try out different spice combinations each time to keep it interesting, and they've all been darned good.

TFA's Brown Sugar Extra is the perfect Chai sweetener if you don't want honey, btw.

I've always used Flavor west. I've never went over 15% on any flavor.

I just bought some Flavour art caramel and mixed up a tiny, 5ml batch... I added 10% flavoring and I knew from the potent smell it was too much. So after a little research I just doubled up on pg/vg base and ended up at 5% flavoring... Which may still be a bit strong but I will cut it more if needed. So yeah flavour Art's flavors are very concentrated. My caramel smells tasty now though. :p

I know this is a FA thread but for those who have tried them what about WL flavorings? Would the come in on the high or low side ratio's for mixing?

Both. WL sells flavorings from a number of different producers. It's kinda' like a mall where you can shop different companies under one roof, but they don't have FA.
