Hey there,

I am curious to know what creates the throat hit?
Is it the nicotene content level?
Is it the PG?
Or is it the flavors?

The reason I ask is that I have just been experimenting with mixing my own liquid with 24mg flavorless PG and various Lorann flavours.

The flavors are evident and the vape is insane, but totally 'soft' on the throat.
It almost feels foamy as it goes down?

I always assumed it is the nic level as the throat hit and buzz seem to be linked. But today I was using my 11mg peach from my JC sample kit and the throat hit was as good as 24mg JC Tenesse Cured and totally satifying.

Now I am wondering if I can be bothered to mix up my own if it doesn't give me that nice throat hit?

I have 21 lorann flavors and some are way to strong and I couldn't imagine smoking them all day.

Cheers

For me it is the nic and some pure alcohol not water at all (the alcohol might kill the flavor but it hits) most people say that pg hits more than vg but and can't say yet, and the flavor has his part in it, it could kill the hit or it could increase it

When you say pure alcohol, what do you use? And how do you use it? Do you just add some drops into the mix?

I would really like to get a good throat hit with my own concoctions.

The flavorless 24mg PG also has a distinctive scent, almost smells exactly the same as some Marlboro liquid I bought? But I don't feel the nic buz from it? It was from china.

Cheers

Throat hit is created by the nicotine level and the warmth of the vapor which is directly related to the size of the battery and type of switch. Manual switch with bigger battery such as the Prodigy or GG will provide the best throat hit. Some on here have reported needing to lower their nic strength when vaping with a 5 or 6 volt device.

It is the everclear alcohol ( i don't have it yet)Due to its high alcohol content, Everclear is illegal, unavailable, or difficult to find in many areas, so if you can't get it try the stronger vodka you can find,
a 10 % of alcohol and 90% of vg or pg, pg hits more than vg as most people say,vg produces more vapor

I would agree with the intent but not the content.

While there is usually a correlation of nicotine levels with throat hit, this is not always true, as the OP pointed out in his/her first post with 11mg JC Peach vs 24mg JC Tenessee Cured. There have been many threads in this forum on the topic of 0mg and throat hit. Some of the suggestions for people vaping 0mg but still desiring throat hit were:

- altering the alkaline level of the liquid
- using menthol
- using high proof grain alcohol or vodka
- using spices to create an irritation in the throat (cayenne pepper, cinnamon, chile powder)
- different techniques of inhaling
- using higher voltage devices to create hotter vapor

Also, when people switch to the higher voltage devices, they aren't lowering their nicotine levels in their liquids to reduce the throat hit (which would be counterproductive to going to the higher voltage devices), they are lowering the nicotine content because they are burning through liquid at a higher rate and therefore do not need to vape the same nicotine strength. Therefore, they vape a lower nicotine strength to insure they maintain similar levels of nicotine intake as they did at lower voltages.

Actually it may be taste buds, taste is not confined to the tongue apparently.

Collings found that all tastes can be detected anywhere there are taste receptors—around the tongue, on the soft palate at back roof of the mouth, and even in the epiglottis, the flap that blocks food from the windpipe.

The receptor cells for taste in humans are found on the surface of the tongue, along the soft palate, and in the epithelium of the pharynx and epiglottis. pretty much the throat I think

[edit] , maybe I misunderstood the question hoowever it is relevant to it I think.

In the few DIY liquids ive tried cutting it 50/50 on the VP and PG before mixing the flavors in seems to give a nice balance of throat hit and vapor production. I could just be an idiot at DIY and that has nothing to do with why it comes out for me.

SantanzChild, are you using 0mg unflavored PG in your mixes?
