I'm got one but no charger for it yet. It supposedly came fully charged but it died quickly even for a 600mAh NiMH battery. It fit nicely with the smaller o-ring you sent me. I have yet to see one other than 600mAh though.

It is just a touch thinner than my AWs though so there is a bit of wiggle. Not much though. If I use the larger o-ring the wiggle is gone but it's clearly pushing a lot harder on the positive terminal. I regret spending any money on it already though. It did have a solid 5.2v on first check and it dropped to 5.1v and then 4.8v quickly but I'm not optimistic about battery life. -Magnus

I got mine tody but I do not have my p18 anymore, just the 16 and 10 but I am sure that they will fit. They are limited in sizes because they are nicad or something like that and they are four 1.2volt batteries run together and wrapped with the battery sleeve, so in order to get up to 4.8volts you need four. I think that the only way they can be made is with a length of 65mm. They make a 17650 size one and a 14650 size one but they advertise the 17mm one as being the same size as an 18650 since it works just fine in mods that take 18650s. I have one in a mod now and I am loving it for now. The mah is the downside but I am fine with the trade off.

Jusr pure speculation but if there is enough market for them, I imagine someone like Panasonic will come out with one that is a single unit (as opposed to stacking 1.2's) using a cell type to allow for greater mah. Call me crazy (everyone else does ) but I will wait until AW comes out with one to try them.

I asked the question, last year, why battery mfgs don't make 5V rechargeable batteries. I was advised that the proper chemistry to make 5V rechargeable batts doesn't exist and that the only way to get higher voltage that 4.2V is by stacking.

Who said that? There is a whole industry of single-celled 5V batteries with USB format outputs in all sorts of capacities. I'm just not sure if the form-factor we use in PVs is pervasive enough to justify it. I'd expect to see it first in hobby RC circles first if we ever will.

As it stands the 4.8v I bought is a bust. It holds a charge as well as a baby holds an anvil. -Magnus
