I have read many, many hours on the 18650 batteries and opinions seem to vary as to use of the AW IMR 18650's versus the AW 2600/2900mah batteries in PV's that can utilize both.

Since I am going to be using a P18 and there are many Precise veterans here, can anyone share their experience with these two different approaches in a Precise?

I understand the concept/design of the two types but am specifically wondering if the "performance" of the high drain over it's charge life is significant enough to go with them as opposed to the longer charge life of the IC Protected 2600/2900's.

Thanks for any feedback! :)

Just so you know I have no clue about this at all but because I love to post answers I will say I don't think there is a noticeable difference between them.

Again I have no clue at all I use them both and never found a difference maybe that's just me we will see after the pro's reply here. :)

me too, not a pro, but i would hazard a guess that the IMR's work better for the LR attys... due to demands on power.

In cases where i had to choose (when i had 3.7 pv's like Phidias, Reo, Ali'i etc), i always went with the other (li-ion protected) just for longer use times, and had no problems.
But for the Provari, it recommends IMR, so i go with those.

There's no need for the IMR w/the P18 - IMR's - 3hrs for me - 2600 or 2900 - around 12 hrs. for me. I am a chain vaper that uses LR 1.5's exclusively, and I run them hot. I seldom use the IMR's now I change out the battery when it gets to 3.85 to 3.9 - yes I can tell, vape quality diminishes. I meter them everytime when I think the vape is not right. The 2900's are suppose to have more protection built into them. To get the correct story on that, refer to CPF - I read about them and the differences awhile ago,but don't recall enough to make an intelligent post right now.
