as the title implies i have a couple questions about steeping. I've seen a few things about it here and there but was hoping a couple pro's here could weigh in with their opinions.

1) does pg vs. vg content have an affect on how long i should let things steep? reason i ask this one is that most of the stuff i started with was either 100% PG or 80%PG and it all basically seemed to taste pretty good right up front. Since i was new and wanted to experiment a bit i ordered a couple new flavors that were 50/50 and a couple that were 80%VG. When i first got the 80% VG stuff i found that all the flavors tasted the same. . I decided maybe i was just tasting mostly the VG so i let them sit for a while. I've had them nearly 2 weeks and there hasn't been much improvement. I don't mean to bring them down cuz a lot of people seem to like them, but just in case it matters, the 80% vg came from vapor bomb.

2) Caps on or caps off? I've heard both. Some people seem to think that caps off the bottles speeds up the steeping process a bit.

3) Fridge or no fridge? again i've heard both. But the only way i'm putting it in the fridge is if you agree the caps should be on for that. LOL

4) Do some companies juices just generally take longer than others?

OK i think i got them all, thanks for the help,

Only answer I can give you is that some flavors do take longer to steep than others. I know this from DIY. FlavourArt for example takes the longest because it is the most concentrated...which may mean that FSUSA takes longer because they use FA flavoring??? But they are big enough that it is possible that they have stuff premixed...and if its premixed it has a chance to steep before shipping. Who knows?? Anyway...if you know what brand of flavoring the company is using you can find steeping times on the DIY forum...but I don't think they call it steeping over there...but I could be wrong. Its been too long for me to remember all of the DIY language.

I don't remember the DIYers referring to the other questions...but I wouldn't be surprised if you could find the answers there. The flavorings that these companies are using are most likely: LorAnne's Oils, Perfumers Apprentice, FlavourArt, Capella, possibly decadent vapours possibly?? Those are the most highly touted & used at least from when I was doing it about 5 months ago.

Great questions!! Looking forward to hearing answers!!!
