I'm 6 days in & vaping more heavily now than I was the first few days so has been good to read this seems to be quite normal. I quit for all of 5.5 weeks about 10 years ago using patches/inhalator and a pill that was supposed to take all desire away (laughable). I got quite weepy the first time for the first couple of weeks and have found myself to be a little down the last few days so think this is a possible side effect of withdrawal from the chemicals from a standard cigarette but no where near as bad as before. Suffering a little with fatigue/insomnia (hence my posting about 3.45am) but I understand this is quite normal too and will soon pass. Stick with it and I'm sure you and I will both come out the other end smiling

The hard part for me when i first started to vape was knowing when i was done. It sounds kinda weird but, with analogs when the cigarette is burnt down to the filter your done. With an ecig you can vape to your hearts content, this is what they are talking about with vaping too much and getting a nic headache or getting queasy.

Everyone is different when they quit, I am one of those that quit by accident when I got an e cig to use where I could not smoke. Charged it up and haven't smoked since. I hope you will find your experience similar :) This is a good thread to read through if you do have any symptoms. Drink heaps of water....repeat drink heaps of water it is that important :D

I smoked a pack a day for 26 years, Marlboro regular, then medium, then light.
When I switched to ecig, I dropped regular cigarettes and never looked back.
I used 18mg nicotine level, and so far I had/have no withdraws at all, except for one day.
I am 100% smoke-free for 12 days now. on day 7 I felt I needed a cigarette, but that evening both my batteries dyed (need recharge, I forgot the night before to charge it). As soon as I got back home, I pulled up my extra fully charged spare one, and the urge was gone instantly.
I think I overdosed couple of time on days 1, 2, and 3, because I could not let it go. It tasted so darn good.

Thank You for the list of withdrawal symptoms! Understanding what to expect makes the symptoms less bothersome.

I'm like you, after trying a disposable I ordered a starter kit. During my long wait, (my order was misplaced and didn't get processed), so I was spending too much on disposables and decided to buy one last pack of analogs. I knew when I lit the 1st one, I prefered e-cigs. I still managed to smoke the whole pack, of course, but it was awesome to realize I actually liked e-cigs more than analogs!

Good Luck and remember the symptoms will pass.

I love vaping so much I had to start ordering lower nic levels so I can vape more without being nic sick. :)

While the e-cig manufacturers state they aren't intended for smoking cessation, none of the other nic replacement products worked for me but e-cigs did!

P.S. my only remaining symptom is the feeling I'm forgetting something at the grocery store but then I remember I don't need analogs. ;)

@ ravendove,

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 25yrs,,, the one thing I would say is to make sure you start with a high enough Nic, then you can always ween down. For me I needed 36mg when I first stated vaping, and needed that for the 1st month, then I dropped to 24mg,,,, then to 18mg,,, after the 18mg I started dropping 1-2mg's at a time and found doing this much easier then trying to make bigger drops of MG's at once. Our bodies are use to those cigarettes and all the Nic and other chemicals they have in them which our body's took in, so dropping your MG's by only- 1mg-2mg at a time effected me way less then a bigger drop at once. Even if you do a drop and vape way more it was OK for me because sooner or later I leveled off again to regular vape session to what I was use to, once this happen I knew I made the drop successfully, then I could work onto the next drop when I wanted to do so, No ill effects/withdraw this way is my point.;)

I've been vaping since yesterday. I'm using: A unflavored PG/VG 60mg nicotine base, a natural PG Menthol, Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, & Distilled Water. I'm also using this calculator: eJuice Recipe Calculator. To put the nicotine level down to 20 mg. The decision to just go with manual was a hard choice for me. Though I'm loving the fact that I can have the freedom to adjust the liquid. My only problems at the moment though, seems to be the taste and the amount of vapor produced. While I think I managed to get the correct nicotine level somehow. Since I haven't really felt like I need a cigarette at all. I know it will probably be awhile before I find a flavor I like, but at least I'm off to a good start?

Can I use any type of concentrated flavor or oil in my vape? Or does it have to be very specific?

You should not use liquids with sugars or oils, those will mess up your atomizers. Also, there are some flavorings that are not suited for vaping, because they give up nasty stuff when heated to a certain point. CHeck the DIY section.

Mega painful leg cramps at night - is anyone else getting this? I thought perhaps I'd been sleeping funny but then a friend of mine who gave up smoking 3 months ago said she suffered with the same for the first few weeks. Has anyone else heard of this?
My friend suggested drinking tonic water (do you think it would be OK to add a large gin to it :p)!

I found muscle aches as a withdrawal, and about leg cramps, found this:
