Hello. I recently gave up a 38 year habit (2pad) thanks to e-cigs. I started with the G6 then, in a couple of weeks, I got my Triton kit and now a VV. So far, it's been working beautifully, and I have been analog free for over 2 months (without any urges for analogs).

A few questions:

- When I clean the tanks, I like to pull out the wicks slightly as I run them under hot water. But, isn't the 'bottom' wick wrapped by the coil wire? Am I potentially damaging the coil and/or wick if I continue using this method? BTW, I finish with the denture cleaner trick I had read about on this forum and it makes them look good as new.

- When charging the VV (or even basic Triton,), should you keep it on the charger for a set amount of time (like the G6), or do you take it off soon as it hits blue?

- Regarding the VV, can you dial in different increments or are you limited to the numbered settings? I have tried it in between 3.8 and 4.3, for instance, and it seemed to work but I wasn't sure if it would potentially damage it.

- Are the Triton batteries regulated voltage? It seems to me that the basic are not, but the VV is. Or maybe I have no idea what regulated voltage means.

- Whats the lowest ohm coil you can safely use with the VV set to 3.8 or 4.3? I ask because when I ordered the VV they were out of the recommended 3.0-3.2, so I continued to use the 2.2-2.4 I had on hand. I have since ordered 2.6-2.8 because the 3s are still out of stock. Am I risking a fire or something?

I gotta say I'm really impressed with the quality of this thing, after lurking on the other forums and seeing people complain about leaks etc. In 2 months I have yet to have a leak or gurgling problem (or any other issue).

Congratulations on quitting analogs! I wish I could answer your questions but I am new to Halo gear & tanks and I am learning myself. Perhaps soon one of the others will sign on to answer your questions. In the time that your waiting you could view the thread "Triton atomizer coil rebuild video" It has videos of the tanks, taking them apart and rebuilding them and is a very informative thread.

I'm interested in the denture cleaner method. You say they look good as new but did it change the way it tasted or vaped?

well done zombo, I;m 2.5 months myself.

1. I haven't been able to remove the bottom wick, but if you can remove it and put it back in without damaging it, then there's no problem that I can see. there is a risk that you'll damage a coil every once in a while, but they are a $2 consumable, so whatever works for you. btw, don't throw the dead heads away, save them, one day you might get into rebuilding them

2. don't know, I thought it was an intelligent charger and you can do whatever you want without damaging the battery.

3. any position on the dial works, you don't need to put it on a whole number.

4. the VV is regulated, so if you set it to 4v, it will be 4v when fully charged and when almost dead. the basics start at 4.something and drop to 3.something during usage.

5. you can use any ohm coils triton supply. at maximum volts, a 2 ohm coil might taste hot and burnt, whereas with a 3 ohm coil it might not. basically when you put a new tank on, wind the voltage to the lowest, and increase it until you get a vape you like.

Thanks for the replies. Evie Luv, besides looking good as new, it makes them perform again. In 2 months, I have yet to throw one out ( I have 3 on rotation). I clean them about every 4-5 days. I take them apart and hold each piece under running hot water for a while, then drop them into denture cleaner for a couple of hours. Then rinse again and place them on a paper towel for a day. In my area, generic (Walgreen's) denture cleaner costs under $5 for 90 tablets.

Chesty thanks for the answers. BTW, I don't fully pull out the lower wick...just enough to see the gunk...I leave it this way even when I dunk it in the DC. I accidentally pulled out the upper wick and even though I was able to get it back in, it unraveled on me. So I try to not to take that one out either.

CONGRATS on your quit and choosing Halo! It got me off of analogs too. As far as I read, w/my attention span of a 4 yrs old, looks like all ur questions have been answered. Personally, I don't play, pull or mess w/the bottoms wick at all. I gently pull the top wick to check for burnt spots but leave the bottom one alone.

As for ohms, I use whatever I have on hand. You just adjust your VV to get proper volts for the ohm. Sometimes I forget what I have in my tank but quickly notice when I start cranking the volts. I at times will get a slight burnt taste and know to turn it down. Other than that, it's been easy, awesome and VOODOO is the best juice.

Had to throw that in...;)

Hey, Zombo.

Welcome, and congrats. I'm about a dozen weeks off analogs as well, and most with the Triton. Got my VV 2 weeks ago, and love it.

Just want to add, I try to leave it on the charger at least an hour after I get the blue light on the charger. I also charge them when they are done or close to done. I never "top them off".

Yes, Dial in whatever you like. I find mine between 3.8 and 4.3 for most juices/tanks. and big differences between them, so that's like a slight turn, but big results. And you are correct, the standard bats will slowly get weaker through their discharge, but the VV will output what you set til it blinks.

I know Halo recommends the highest coils, but I disagree. I use the standard 2.2 - 2.4 that comes in the tank. If you go higher ohms resistance, you'll have to dial up higher volts. And I think I'd get longer battery life at low ohms, lower volts.

Woah! So you don't even take the rubber piece off the top when cleaning? I thought condensation etc... would get trapped under there after cleaning and mess with things.

Yes, I do take off (and clean) the rubber piece. I manually hold the wicks in place as I clean them. It's a bit of a pain, and that's why the upper wick came completely out that one time.

DaveOno, I also leave them on about an hour after...didn't know if that was correct, it was just a gut feeling.

Thanks for the replies, and I have already ordered a sampler of Voodoo...probably would have gotten it today but the storm gave me a snow day off from work (I have my vapemail shipped to work for convenience). I'm not sure I'll even like it, but I'm tired of seeing everyone talking about it while I don't know what it takes like. I tend to like simple, unobtrusive flavors (LOVE Tribeca, it's my all-day, but I'm not above dabbling in something else). Also Turkish Tobacco and Prime 15 (seems to finish with a hint of Hazelnut or even....fried chicken(!)...it's a sorta savory flavor IMO) are in my rotation.

Longhorn made me want to puke, but a month later it mellowed out enough for me to keep dabbling in it. Torque 56 was interesting (I thought I felt a hint of chamomile at the end), but I eventually forgot about it...I intend to go back to it, however.

Also, I started on 24mg (I smoked Marlboro reds), but sometimes I felt a sorta 'bite' on my tongue (I like taking giant hits). I went down to 18mg and that seemed to take care of it. Was it just placebo, or my getting used to vaping, or does nicotine cause that sensation?

Ya know, it really does help to be on this forum. Not only is it informative but vaping now feels like a new hobby and that has helped me completely forget about analogs. As I mentioned elsewhere, analogs seem disgusting now...if I happen to catch someone's second hand smoke it makes me feel a tad nauseated.

ETA: How do you play the Halo 12 day Giveaway Game?

Do you leave the cap on when soaking in denture cleaner over night?

No, I drop everything separately in the glass (except I keep the wicks in their place, albeit pulled out a little to expose the part that had most of the gunk on it). Although, I usually only leave it in there for a couple of hours, but the instructions for the DC states you can leave it over night. That hasn't really been necessary for me since I usually clean my tanks every 4-5 days. I suppose if you went longer in between cleanings, then over-night soaking might be preferable.

You know you can remove the metal bit at the top of the coil, right? ;)

Hhhmm this sounds familiar. Just wanna say getting that little bugger back in isn't always easy. Last time I tried I flung it across the room, couldn't find it and like three days later stepped on it. It somehow landed on an area rug outside of my kitchen!

No, I did not lol. Is it necessary for cleaning? I can see that helping if a wick comes out. I tried to thread one back in and it unraveled.

I will have to try removing it next time I clean a tank.

I was doing the same exact thing you were and my man BigBen told about this little secret, that's really not a secret. I must have unravelled and ruined like 5 coils trying to thread the thing back in.
