This is a really underrated device, IMO. Fill and puff.

Don't worry about it being 0.5 ohms. It could be a 0.5 ohm Stainless Steel or Ni80 wire, which takes far less watts to get a good vape out of. Flavour is decent, too. As long as you take a haul and feel reasonable satiated, it's all good.

Definitely a step up from the pod/gas station devices.

For the future, keep the Innokin Kroma A with the Zenith or Zlide tank in your sights. Still Mouth to Lung (like smoking) but with better batteries ie lasts longer, larger capacity, and the ability to change the top part (tank) that holds the juice if you want to do different flavours.
honestly so what is the difference between MTL and DL? I mean I understand it, academically, but I can hit either style interchangeably and I feel like I've gotten some static in regards to whether you get an effective hit if you're mtl when you should be dl and vice versa. Whats the truth?

It's a battery. If your priority isn't the smallest size possible for your device, it is the "standard" sized battery. It is more cost effective in the long run to use devices with replaceable batteries than devices with built-in batteries that cannot be replaced when they wear out.

Agreed, but that then requires a battery charger. Most of us don't trust charging the mod (the power source for the vape) with the batteries in.

MTL is technically taking the vape into your mouth, then removing the device, then inhaling. DL/DTL is like hitting the fire button, and inhaling directly.

Then there's slipstreaming, which is hitting the fire button, lightly inhaling with lips slightly parted so you're almost Dl but with air mixed in from your mouth.

From what you've described so far, you're a MTL .

The truth is you do what you need to feel satisfied. If that means upping the nicotine, so be it. The nicotine isn't the villain in cigarettes.

So Florida
I vape nic salts Mouth To Lung (as @Skwij so eloquently described) IMG_1901.JPG IMG_1901.JPG IMG_1902.JPG . Although I did buy a Smok Nord pod, I only use devices with replaceable batteries now. I need adjustable air flow and power. These are 2 of my stealthy "on the go" mods for size comparison (+ my emergency smokes that I cold turkeyed seven weeks ago):

Your device dictates what inhalation method works best. MTL hits more absorbent mucous membranes and taste buds than DL. DL allows you to inhale way more vapor. So MTL works well for small devices with small coils and DL works well with high-wattage cloud machines.

Juice strength: If you're using a small pod device that sips through 1mL a day you can use 30-50mg nic. Since regular nic is gruesome to taste at such concentrations you would naturally go with salt nic. If you're using a big RBA at 100W that guzzles 10mL a day you can use 3-5mg regular nic. You're getting the same dose at the end of the day. The nic type depends on the concentration and the concentration depends on the volume of liquid vaporized in a puff.

Your mod has 1.2mL capacity and outputs a constant 1.85V (low) with a 0.5ohm (technically sub-ohm lol) coil head, but that's only about 7W. This thing is a low-powered juice sipper. It's right in line with all the other pod system. That's why Joyetech advertises it as "optimized for high nicotine".
Should I use nic salts exclusively? I'd rather not.
Yes, on this device, if you expect to achieve satisfaction and enjoyable flavor.
You should also re-examine your enigmatic prejudice against salt nic because it's the breakthrough that has enabled devices to become this small without sacrificing enjoyment.
Where do I look now in terms of a device that is NOT a pen?
You've got a world of choice. I'd recommend a rebuildable atomizer (RBA) so you can explore all the possibilities. Keep the Joyetech as a backup unit.

You seem MTL to me but get an Innoken Kroma kit you will not be disappointed, I highly doubt. It really WAS the MTL of 2018 and the coils last forever. You can get lower ohm coils now with it too and experiment a bit (I just tried the 0.48 coil and even at 14 watts it was rather sub0hmy.

You are going to have some initial outlay with ecigs. Short of actually going to a vape store (and it might be worth it, to check some things out if you have a decent one) you aren't going to know how it vapes.

Your current device might actually be a step DOWN from cigalikes. I'm sorry and I didn't want to say it before, but it is a truly dinky, terrible, poorly designed thing, with the price tag to prove it.

Decent gear requires SOME outlay and if you are successful you will find it more than pays for itself, rather quickly. Keep the "thing" you have now as a backup in case something breaks.
