First, I'd like to apologize for a long post. I tend to ramble. Skip to below the dotted line for a summary. Now then...

So, around 11 PM last night I discovered a video on youtube while watching old smoking commercials for fun. This video was an E-Cigarette video. It was in German, but it was enough to make me Ctrl+T and Google it. I'm sure you can figure out what happened next.

So I've been up all night researching the little buggers, checking sites for prices, and so on. I'm pretty burnt out - and can't do a lot of thinking for myself at the moment - as I didn't get any sleep last night. And now I'm here, looking for advise.

I have two very big limitations. The first being that I cannot use a credit card. Out of the sites I've visited, I've found one that offered payment through paypal - which is by far the most convinent way to pay for anything and is my preferred payment option. Though money orders, checks, and wires are all possible.

Second limitation would be price, I need cheap. 100 bucks is probably too much. I was settled with buying a Blu kit despite some of the complaints because of how much you get for so little. Comparing prices alone, every other site is a complete joke (that I've found). 25 carts (of questionable quality), 1 atomizer, two batteries, a portable charging station that looks like a pack of smokes, holds 5 carts and a battery, a USB charger and a wall charger for 60 bucks? But ah, only credit cards are accepted.

I smoke a pack a day, sometimes more, rarely less. I doubt it matters but I smoke Marlboros, and before that Camels. One of my biggest concerns about vaping is becoming more dependent on nicotine. That doesn't seem like a good idea. And about the only time it's easy to fight off a nicotine craving is when I'm stoned. And I don't have enough money to be high all the time - so that's a mute point anyways.

I don't care how big or small the e-cigs are, nor do I care about available flavors, strengths, etc. I'd just like something that looks good (preferably black) and lasts a decent amount of time. I have no idea what a decent amount of time is for an e-cig, so that's up to you guys/gals. I'd also like something that comes with enough carts that I can get a good feel for if I like "it" before I spend me moneys on spare batteries, carts, atomizers, juice etc.

----------------------------------------------
Summary below.
----------------------------------------------
-I'm too tired to figure this stuff out for myself right now. And I'm too lazy tbh.
-I don't care what the E-Cig looks like.
-I would like it to be black, but w/e.
-I'm scared of becoming more addicted to nicotine.
-I need something in the sub $100 range.
-If you're recommending me a starter kit, and when you do so you're also telling me to buy something else, I probably won't. I want a kit that has enough to let me decide if I want to continue to vape or not.
-I do not have, nor have access to a credit card. I can pay via check, wire, or money order, but PayPal is what I really want to see.

Thanks,
Arc

P.S. I'd like to thank this entire forum, but at this time, the bulk of my thanks gets directed towards Spikey. That video was very helpful - but jesus doesn't all that metal jewelry weigh down your arms? :p Thanks a lot.

Check this out...
e cigarettes, The electronic cigarette store

Click on pen style in the left column. It's the 4072 or 801. It's $56 for 2 complete devices (and yes there are black ones). Get yourself some e-liquid while you're there and blank carts. That should be more than enough to decide if you want to do this.

I've bought from Alan 3 times and this very same kit twice. He ships fast and he is a supplier listed with this forum.

Good luck to you.

I swear I'm not trying to pick on you, but one of my pet peeves is when folks talk about two complete devices. Yeah, technically that's probably correct, but in terms of function, what you've really got is ONE device with an extra atomizer. Frankly, I don't know anyone who can vape with only one battery. Two is the minimum--one to vape with while the other is charging. Unless you have a USB passthrough battery, if you only have one battery, you're down for the count while you're charging it.

Even so, I think ONE e-cig consisting of TWO batteries and TWO atomizers is a pretty nice deal.

Personally, I'd shop around for a good deal on a 510 starter kit. The Widow (Widows Bead Work - Home) is out of stock on the starter set until June 20th, or I'd suggest her--$50 with free s/h.

Whatever you decide to get, though, do pick up a bottle of liquid. You just will NOT get the best experience without having the ability to top off.

Hey you should definitely make sure to shop around a little and you can get something for around $50 or less. I started off with the RN4801, Super Mini, and that is the primary on I use. I definitely recommend that one. Make sure you do research everything b/c each site seems to hav their own name for the same PV. I had good luck with ecigarettecigar.com. They seem to have pretty good prices, but I placed that order about 2 months ago so other places might have better prices now. As a new user I would recommend that you stay away from PV's that have a manual button (you push it to heat up the atty) because it takes a while to get used to everything. I am willing to bet though whatever you order you will enjoy and you will order others so you can try them all!! Good Luck!

All I can say is every site I ever ordered from took paypal........like 6 so far..

the suppliers forum has a lot of sales going on and just look into your first order being from within the states........10 days is a long time to wait for your first order
I won't recommend get a bunch of extra stuff( just a little juice bottle) so you can refresh a cart when needed to get the full experience

automatic batteries work but can be fickle at times

Seriously? I got a spam message on my first topic? I'm not sure if I should feel insulted or honored :p

Thanks to everyone else, keep the recommendations coming. I suppose I should have mentioned this in (and I'll edit it into) the main post; I won't have the money to buy one until the 20th anyways. So whomever specified that date - you were spot on :p

Rule of thumb from experienced vapers: the smaller it is, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance in the long run. Do the batteries last 6-8 hours between charges? Can you get the batteries for $2 instead of $15-$20? Can you drip liquid into the atomizer with no concern about gumming up the battery? I would follow Julie's advice as a good starting point.

you didn't get spamed. everyone here tends to have their own favorite suppliers and can be quite vocal in their support.they are truely trying to help you so don't be insulted. also don't forget if you have a paypal acct you can use a "secure card" for site that only accept cc. so don't let that limit your choices. good luck hunting

I agree the RN 4081. More difficult to rejuice, but, far more reliable!

Especially compared to the 901.

901's are a POS IMHO :(

For my RN I just prefill a bunch at once and don't worry about topping off. I ordered the JC starter kit a while back and found the tweezers they give you fit just enough in the hole at the end to push the container thing up. It all takes about 5-10 min to wash everything, then when they are all dry another 5-10 to fill. (I usually try to do 10 carts at once.)

What are you using for filler?

Arc,

You story sounds just like mine, there is just so much info it will make your head spin!

For my first purchase I bought the DPV9 (or KR808D1) from Eastmall.net These are a 2 piece design (battery and atomizer/cart combo). I found these great for using while at work, just pop on a fresh cart and throw them in my pocket and go. I was also a pack a day smoker before I got this and now I am not smoking at all. I personally like this model for several reasons, easy to use, many flavor options, long battery life, good vapor production.

Eastmall has the starter kits for $36 (2 batteries,1 charger, 1 pack carts). They do except PayPal, but I don't think they have them in black any more, just white and silver.
Also carts for these can be expensive and shipping from China usually takes around 7 days, you can get these from cigeas.com in the US.

I just was out and reuse the current filling. It has been working very well so far and I have not had any trouble with the filing going bad!
Trust me! They will lose holding capacity after x number washing/refills. Unless you have a nice supply of blank carts you will be looking for alternative filler material.

I believe that would be a dominantly accepted rule of belief here on the forum!!

Others please advise?

Yup. After awhile of topping off/refilling, the filling doesn't hold liquid properly. A quick wash will solve that problem, but, as you note, after a few washings, the old filling just doesn't hold the liquid properly, and it gets frayed and just kind of pathetic looking.

Fluval (aquarium filter filler) and polyester quilt batting/stuffing are the two most commonly used, but folks are having some fun (and success) experimenting with other fillers, such as tea bags and coffee filters. We are a creative bunch. :)

510 starter kit + PCC + some juice.

You're now under $100 and have everything you need to give it a reasonable try.

See the 510 parts/suppliers/prices update I did not so long ago:
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-parts-suppliers-discussion-2.html#post301308

    as well as:
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...uppliers-links-only-no-discussion-please.html

If you think you'll be refilling from juice, the 510 > the J118. (Figurehead hasn't tried a 510 at this point), as the J118 has no caps for it's carts, which basically means filling up carts one at a time. If you'll be buying only pre-filled carts, then you'll be wasting money, but then this is a non-issue.

J118 has slightly better battery life than the 510. I'd get the PCC with either, or any e-cig that has one.

510 throat hit > J118/VX2, and vapor production is also better. Unless of course, my 3x J118 atomizers, and 2x batteries for the J118 are all somehow crap, then I'd say 510 QC > J118 QC. :)

Get the 510. If you don't want to spend the cash on the PCC, then leave it out, and get yourself a few juices and some blank carts.

The M201 isn't bad, but it's basically an 801..valid option for you, battery life is better than the smaller ones. Throat hit is there, but surprisingly, not as much as the 510. Vapor is good.

You can also take a look at the 2 piece units, KR808D-1/Vapor King/Zeus/Nebula, but their price per 'smoke' and cart quality leaves something to be desired, IMO (I've had 3-4 kits so far, many carts, search for 'burning cartomizers' for lots of pics/discussion).

If you work next to a computer, get a USB passthrough, to avoid the battery hassles.

Sorry, you'll have to actually make a *few* decisions yourself, but you've been given enough info to do so in this thread. Good luck with whatever you choose! :)
