I am now vaping a KR808D-1 and am enjoying it, but would like to try some others out. I'm looking at the 510, but I'm not liking the 3 piece set up. I like the one I have now because it seems like no fuss. I just pop the carto on and vape. I have seen the 510 cartos and this is probably a dumb question, but I'm asking anyway. If you get the 510 cartos does that then make the 510 a 2 piece rather than a 3 piece system?

As far as switching to a 510, I don't think you will see any difference in performance. If anything a 510 may have a lower mah rating, giving less vape time. I started on 510 and use mods mostly but I find the 808 to be a better mini battery for me. Check out mods for something new, and play around with different ohm clearomizers/ce2's and other attys and cartos with your 808 to find the vape you like.

If you are happy with the KR808, keep using it! If you want to try something else my advice would be to determine in advance what other features you want..is it longer battery life? Bigger juice capacity? I started with a KR808 and loved it but hated how quickly the batteries went dead so I went to an ego-t which after a few weeks ended up being a huge disaster with failing atomizers and leaky tanks. I kept the ego batteries and started using various cartomizers on them, then I ordered a bottom feed mod, and after that an e-power kit, then I decided to try dual coil cartos. After that expensive journey I am now settled on the e-power battery and dual coil atomizers. I get the long battery life I was missing with the KR808 and the ease of use & great performance with the dual coil atomizers. All the other junk I am either giving to my son or selling on classifieds.

(I don't think going from a KR808 to a regular 510 is a step up AT ALL and will leave you still looking for something else)

The Riva 510 is back at Liberty-Flights for as little as $30 with the 20% discount at the top of the page, they have big batteries that will last nearly all day and you can use low resistance cartomizers on it to get more heat and vapor than you would a regular 510

I just checked and the Riva 510 Delux Carto set I ordered still shows out of stock. Too bad because I started with this. It's two piece, lasts 6-8 hours and is sneezy easy. I love using it with the 2.0 cartos. It's not pencil thin, though. But, a great pv. Next to my gogo it looks pretty small. :)

Buy a MANUAL 510 so you will get the totally sealed threaded end

I don't like cart+atty either but atty+drip tip for dripping is great for testing juices and with a manual battery it is safe to do that. And I usually use Boge cartos on my 510 - you have to buy the standard resistance ones, not the ones that say LR or Low Resistance nor HV. With the manual battery you are also safe from killing your battery if a carto leaks.

being able to drip is great for testing juices because you don't want to fill up a blank carto with a juice then find out you don't like it.

And I love the PCC at NoSMokeVA.com - it fits standard 510 batteries including manuals and can hold 2 batteries (one charging slot and one plain slot) and if you take one carto condom off it can hold 6 cartos. I usually take the mouth-end condom off and set them mouth-end down.

I vape both standard manual KR808D-1 and 510 so I charge 2 batteries of each overnight as well as the PCC. The PCC can't charge a KR808D-1 battery but a standard KR8 battery will fit threaded end up in the front battery slot. And I put my spare 510 battery int he charging slot threaded end down. And some alternate cartos for each in the slots. And I also have two complete ecigs outside the PCC. And juices in my pocket - that is my setup for going to work.

There are very few prefilled cartos for 510 but lots of blanks.

Re Riva - yeah they've been out of the Deluxe carto set at Liberty-Flights.com. remember to click the 20% off on the front page. I bought the Riva 510 Lite Bundle and then got a Riva 901 cone there too - the 901 cone is the one they must use in the Riva carto kit they are out of (because they are out of boge cartos). I just tested the 901 cone - it fits the Riva 510, it is shorter, and the hole fits over a carto. And get a buttong protector here on this Ego page

Switching to 510 from 808 probably won't be a big change for you. It will get you into the 510 realm however, where there are many options available...if you are just looking for longer battery life but still want to use your 808 cartos, maybe check out the pig cig at the lecig site... It's a bigger sized, higher mah battery that's probably compatable with your current gear...I haven't tried one myself, but I did think about it .. I went with the ego when I decided I wanted longer lasting batts than my 808s...Plus I wanted to try out the tanks that had just came out then.

thanks for the advice everyone! i would like to purchase some drip tips because since i still am new to this i'm finding there are a lot of the juices i'm buying and filling cartos with i'm not liking. i purchased some ry4 because i've seen a lot of people like that, filled a carto and found out i do not like it at all!! i've cleaned the carto, but can still taste it....so there is a wasted carto. my taste buds are just about coming back, at first i only really liked the tobacco flavors and now i don't like them much and perfer the sweeter tastes. i would like something with a longer battery life, but like i said i would rather have something that is just a 2 piece system (with a carto) while i'm away from home because it's just easier. i'm for sure sticking with the 808, i love it, someone though told me with the 510 you get more flavor which is why i wanted to try it. after reading a bit more about it though i find out it doesn't give the same th as the 808 and even though i wasn't a heavy smoker i did smoke strong cigarettes. lights did nothing for me, they all felt like i was smoking air so i'd like a strong th.

another reason i was looking to try something else out, most of the vendors i've used sell mostly 510 accessories. a week or 2 ago i looked all over for some blank 808 cartos, maybe i just don't know the right vendor to get all my supplies from.
