So I know AW IMR is a great battery for my Provari I have on the way and my current Vamo. Higher wattage devices like the rDNA is it more advisable to use a Sony VTC 5. Also it says the Sony has a cut off of 2.5 volts. Does that mean I can use my device till the battery is at 2.5 rather then 3.2, I assume it does but figured I would double check.

Also, other than the Sony what is another good battery for higher wattage devices. Whats the best or would the Sony be that. One thing I wont cheap out on is batteries.

Thanks guys I cant stress how much of a help you people are!

I posted in another of your threads - the rDNA comes with an appropriate battery installed. VTC5's (if you can find one right now) are good for 30amps continuous firing. AW 1600's are good to 24amps, but probably won't fit in the rDNA as they're button topped.

The cutoff of 2.5V is a safety feature - IMR batteries most likely won't charge again if discharged below 2.5V. If using a regulated device like the rDNA, the unit will indicate when to recharge.

Yea I know. But just like for example I have an E Fest so that cant go below 3.2 in my Vamo. Was wondering the sony can go 2.5 or is it device related. Also I read a post saying the E Fest (purple) 2100 mah 30 amp are the same as VTC4. True or not and are they good. I know it has a battery but I would like to get a few more of the best possible for it.

The battery cutoff is set by the mod. The 2.5V limit is common to a lot of lithium battery types, including AW IMR's. 2.5V is the absolute minimum before risking permanent damage to the battery. Most regulated mods cut out at 3.2V because that is the point where you get the best battery life, and lifespan.

The VTCx series batteries and a bunch more these days can go down to 2.5v, but I don't do it to mine. The amount of energy you get between 3.2v and 2.5v is really small and taking them to 2.5 is really hard on them and shortens their life a lot. This is battery related, not mod related.

Your Provari and Vamo don't need more than 10 amp maximum continuous discharge batteries. I think the rDNA puts out max 30 watts and if that's true it needs something like 14 amps max. For that application today I would buy Samsung 25R or LG HE2 20A, 2500 mAh. They can be had for around $8 a pop at illumination Supply which is a known good battery supplier I have used a few times. Quick shipping to Canada at good ship rates.

There are no authentic VTC5 available anywhere right now that I know of and only a couple of places that offer VTC4 or VTC3. I don't buy Efest.
