Hello Everyone
I've been a pack a day smoker since I was 20. A former girlfriend got me switched to American Spirits and those have been the only cigs I could smoke without feeling ill (less ill, anyway).

My adventure in e-cigs started out at a local tobacco store where I purchased a Pure Smoke kit. The battery and/or charger was dead shortly. I then purchased a different kit elsewhere from Randy's. I also had problems with that model.

$100 in the hole and I was not happy. So I decided to make my first mod before using a full cartridge. I bought a 4 AA holder and misc parts and built a 3 AA e-cig that will take the atomizers from the above minis. It works pretty darn well. However, the cartridges leave a little to be desired in the taste department on one brand. On the other brand, the cartridges don't seem to feed the atomizer very well.

Off to the internet to do the research I should have done prior to making any purchase and I found you guys. I read a lot of the forum and was leaning towards the 510. Then I stumbled upon MistressNomad's sticky. I'm now the proud owner of a KR808. I bought it from Litecigusa who provided great customer service and lightning quick shipping to my coast. I am really impressed with them and will likely shop on the "wrong" coast if they have what I need.

I'll be keeping my mod around. It'll provide me with the opportunity to buy cartridges locally should I run out of something. Plus, it's my first mod. :2cool: I'll also be making another likely with an 808 connector so that I can try the cartomizers on it and 901 atomizers on it.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the great community you've created here. I'll mostly lurk until I have a lil more knowledge. It's nice to know there's a place I can get my questions answered before I purchase something.

You should also see Greensmoke.com.

Their stuff is great.

I started with GreenSmoke and was incredibly unhappy after the third day. I spent more time recharging the batteries than I did using them. Thankfully I had found this forum and ordered a 510 PT that helped me get through until my Riva arrived. As soon as I got that, I sent the GreenSmokes back for a refund. That was the absolute worst $270 I ever spent in my life and I'm so glad that I got it all back!

dgr, congrats on the KR808. I think that will keep you happy for a while! I don't have one myself, but I've considered getting one just to have a back up.

precious007,
I usually let those I disagree with say their piece and be quietly ignored. However, this is in the new members forum. Someone might read your post and actually consider it.

How specifically is their stuff "great?"

So, here is what I have to say about my quick look at greensmokes. It looks like a KR808 with what appears to be a proprietary cartomizer design. That's bad. A $50 battery. You have got to be kidding me. Their prefilled carts are $11 dollars a piece. And no, I did not misplace the decimal there. No seriously, I felt like a schmuck for blowing $100 on crap that didn't work and then another $100 before finding what worked. Thanks for showing me I could have wasted that same money and ended up with a third of the crap that I did purchase. I can't believe that someone in good conscious would recommend someone wanting to get into vaping would recommend buying such over priced items. Unless that person is in it for personal $$ gain.

If I'm mistaken about your intentions, I'll be the first to apologize. Let's just say I could use an analog right now. But, I'm usually pretty good at pointing towards the midden heap.

You were so much more polite than I.
