quick Vivi Mini question

I was under the impression the Startdust/Vivi and Mini Nova all used the same head? Interchangeable with one another?
Is this not the case?

It's not exactly the same head. The Nova heads have a metal cup in the silicone cap, and the stardust heads have a metal nipple. The metal part that the silicon cap goes onto is longer on the stardust head, but the overall dimensions of both heads are very close, so you can use either head in either device.

woah! broke what exactly?

pull off the silicone seal and the little metal thing and your left with a "cup" with the wick slots. I used the handle end of my tweezers like a screwdriver in the wick slots and one whole side snapped right off. Kind of surprised me as i wasn't turning it very hard.
1.8ohm replacement nova head with the 4 long skinny wicks got like 2 weeks ago or so just to be clear. Never got to use it

i should have been more clear myself lol
And on a side note it is a nice looking coil and should lend itself nicely to grafting into a new unit or other rebuildable

I've refrained from posting here, because the only thing I would have been able to add is that it works for me. However, it occurs to me that if someone could give an explanation of how those of us who don't do things like recoil these, just exactly how we can tell if we have NR wire or not, we may be able to be a bit more productive on this.

However, it occurs to me that if someone could give an explanation of how those of us who don't do things like recoil these, just exactly how we can tell if we have NR wire or not, we may be able to be a bit more productive on this.

i don't have anything with the welded on NR legs to take a pic of. Anybody got a pic?
I would think once you see what to look for it should be obvious but can't say for sure...

I do not know what I took this off of but you can clearly see the NR wire but welded to the R wire.

Those welds would be very difficult to produce (as pictured) unless you had a Orthodontic Welder.

Ahh, I see. So it's one of those things that is hard to see unless you take it apart. Well then for whats it's worth, the nova heads I'd say almost for sure no nr, but the stardust heads are a maybe, I think I'm seeing those tiny little connection welds just under the wicks.

Yeah zip. They are great welds. I have come across others that looked even cleaner. Sure wish I had a gizmo that could do that on the cheap.

the GG pre made coil/wire for the Ody/Penny is the nicest I've seen, but its nichrome and I can't stand the taste

easy enough to fake the funk by just twisted your NR on, it just doesn't look as pretty

Rocketman made an interesting post on that subject recently. Sounds like it could be pretty cheap if you happen to already have a suitable power source.
