Welcome Christopher O - I quit smoking, after 42 years of 1 - 1 1/2 PAD, with the help of vaping 2 years ago last month on the 14th. Diagnosed with COPD (mild emphysema) about 10+ years ago, but have had no breathing problems ever, don't use any meds for it, etc. My spirometer test results 4 years ago were better than 98% of people who'd never smoked, my doc said. Only reason I'm listed as having COPD is what was shown on my Xrays 10 years ago and each of the next 6 years that I had chest Xrays. Never got worse, but was still there and always will be. Doctor said I'm "a puzzle" as far as the COPD and no need for meds.

He also was/is very glad that I got off the smokes, and is very encouraging of people using ecigs to do it. He gave me a "high 5" when I switched! You might want to discuss vaping with your doctor, too, since you do take/use meds for it. At least they can update your chart to former smoker, current vaper now! :)

Has anyone had a Doctor/Physician comment on Vaping? I have read the pros and cons and other "facts" listed online and all the drawbacks ( health Concerns) of Nicotine. Any Healthcare workers I know who found out I gave up the smokes for vaping said great but now need to quit the nicotine.

My response is I switch nicotine levels regularly and sometimes Zero! That seems to quiet the naysayers.

Firstly, congratulations and keep it up!

The Nautilus Mini is the best MTL tank out there to many people. The more tanks you buy, the more juice on the go at one time (either on separate PV's or just change tanks like I do) is the best advice I could give. If it ever gets boring, pop on another tank and start on a different liquid and you never get bored.

Congrats on the switch. I've been a smoker for 26 years +/- . I have went from 3 packs down to half a pack or less. Like today I have had 3 and smokes half of those then re lite them. Biggest trick is when you want a smoke hit the vape. The wake up smoke the after meals smoke is the ones I'm battling with but will beat that soon enough.

Personal add to my above post... Stay active in getting back in the moves you enjoy. Take a walk to the corner store, bike to get your supplies, just run to catch a bus or a train, and kick the balls whenever one shows up... I love kicking some moves, even as a smoker I was running, biking , kicking some foot balls or basket balls whenever I had a chance. After I kicked the smoke out, it took a long while for my chess to spill out that nasty tar and singing out of my chess helped out, getting deeper breathing one day after another. And no matter what, make sure you drink plenty of water as you vape.

No puzzle in there, same here diagnosed with mild emphysema after a CAT scan, no med for that, can run 1h00 a day (I ran 5 miles just before that scan), swim, bike rather than driving just enjoying life... spirometer @ 98-99%, heart rate @52 to 60 at rest, heart rate recovery at 40+... I'm not superman, nor that I got there overnight but I feel good since I kicked that smoke out of my habits... Glad to hear that you're doing good!

I may have to rethink my vaping and it's relationship with my lung condition. I was reading the health part of the forum and I am not sure that I am doing the right thing. But it has to be better than cigarettes!?! How could it not be? I know nothing but atmosphere and meds would be the perfect solution, but I just can't do that yet. My emphysema recently graduated to stage 3. I have to discuss this with my pulmonary Dr.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on quitting. My only real advice, as someone who has struggled with quitting and even gone back to analogs for awhile, is take it one day at a time. Lots of smart (and occasionally slightly crazy:D) people here at ECF who will be happy to answer questions and offer whatever support and advice you might need, so don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them.

If you had to choose the lesser of two evils, vaping would be my recommendation. If it's keeping you from smoking cigarettes, which are going to have a far greater overall impact on your health and the conditions you're suffering from, you're far better off vaping. But you are doing the right thing by investigating your options and the associated impact of them. Informed decisions are the best ones usually.

Congrats Christopher O. I started smoking at 13. 38 year habit for me. I have been vaping for almost a year. Started on 510 starter kit, then a spinner with ismoka clearomizer, then a nautilus mini with istick. I also used high pg which always seemed so harsh to me. None of this satisfied my urge to smoke until recently when I bought a temperature control with a triton mini. I use the Nickel coil on tc and I love it finally. I also upped my VG content. So far I have quit smoking completely and it's been 3 weeks today. You have to find the best set up for you and not worry about what everyone else is using. Again, congrats!
