Okay.. so it sounds like it is relatively easy to quit analogs with a PV... but how hard will it be to quit vaping? I know that there is nicotine in the ones a lot of us smoke when we first quit. Will it be hard to quit vaping through the less and less nicotine method? In the long run, I am trying to quit all smoking, not just analogs. I haven't even received my eGo yet.. and I am worried that my addiction to vaping might be even greater!! (Judgment coming from reading the reviews, comments, blogs about how great vaping is.) I just wanted to know what everybody else thinks about this "issue" of mine. Please:)

I enjoy vaping, so personally don't worry about quitting. I have seen many people on here who have weened themselves off of nicotine completely, selling all of their supplies in the classifieds. I started vaping six months ago, and I do think that a gradual reduction in nicotine would make quitting possible for me if I wanted to.

I didn't start vaping to stop smoking cigarettes; it just happened 2 days after I started vaping.

The main reason I started vaping was for the convenience: No longer having to go outside and smelling like an ashtray.

I started out 2 1/2 months ago with 24mg nic...when I make new orders for ejuice next week I'm moving down to 18mg and where it goes from there, I don't know. Don't want to put any pressure on myself....all I know is that I am smoke free and that's what counts.

cheers,

I started vaping with no intention of quitting tobacco but I did. For 2 months I vapid continuously but now it's really tapered off. I don't vape first thing in the morning anymore. I can go for hours at work and not give vaping a second thought. Nicotine from an e-cig is a different experience with the effect gradually building up over minutes, rather than the immediate tobacco rush. I don't intend to quit vaping but I might.

I totally agree with you. Smoking an analog compared to something with only nicotine is different. Smoking an analog contains MAOI inhibitors while the PVs do not. You also make a good point on how you don't need to smoke it first thing in the morning and also the duration between your vapes. Thank you for your input! I am sure I won't be too worried about quitting vaping as soon as I start.. but I want to stop sometime in the future. There is no pressure to quit since there aren't any carcinogens in the juices.. but sometime in the future I'd like to stop.(I was just wondering if it would be as hard as quitting analogs)

Some tips to quit the PV. I haven't quit PV but when/if I decide that is for me the course I would take is rather simple. First of course cut down nicotine over a long stretch of time to zero. Probably once you get down to 0, cut down vaping time, and get rid of juices that are your "favorites", and addicting in flavor unto themselves to something less favored.

a friend of mine quit ciggys when he started to vape, then a month later he quit the vape, he was at 24mg at the time. and another friend was vapeing for about 5 months , then quit the vape too, and he too was at 24mg,... i believe that when you start to vape ,your nic intake drops dramaticaly, because when i started to vape , i vaped 24-7 with a passion at 24 to 26mg, i dont vape as much as i used to, now... i have been vapeing for about 6mths. i dont feel the need to vape 24-7, i dont get that crave to smoke or to vape anymore, but i vape any how.having fun with mod making and trying different juice flavors and trying other pv set-ups. ,my opinion, it is less tormenting to quit the vape than ciggys, just my opinion..

I plan to eventually quit but now Im not in any rush to do so. It's only been a few days but I already lost the urge for an analog completely. I started at 18mg with some 16mg juice here and there and I hope to use the 18mg for a few months and then go down to 16mg exclusively. I hope to keep cutting down every few months until I am at zero.

It would be relatively easy to quit vaping eventually. I would caution you to take it slow, and by slow I mean vape for at least 6 months before trying to stop (depending on how long you smoked for).

Also, I DO recommend that you keep all your e-cig stuff even after you quit because if a day comes when you have a need for nicotine you won't be tempted to buy cigarettes.

Personally, I don't plan to quit vaping. For me, the PV is like a silver bullet, I just feel safer with it than without it.

Once you find some juices you like, lower the nicotine. The last 3 weeks I only bought juices in the next lower level - both my everyday faves and some new ones I wanted to try. You can switch all at once - I do not vape constantly so I was able to switch all at once and just vape more often to smooth over the transition. If a transition seems to big, you can alternate nicotine level or mix juices to an in-between level (like you can mix 6 and 12 to get 9mg juice, or 6mg and 0mg to get 3mg)

There's no one straight answer, I think. Personally, I started vaping with 18mg for 1 whole month then suddenly went into zero mg. I went on vaping zero mg for 2 or 3 months. I found out that I needed less and less vaping as time went on. At around 8 months, my ol' DSE801 retired and I noticed I didn't need it anymore. I went on without analogs and PV for more than a year. Now I'm back vaping zero mg due to stress related things. Just don't think about it. You'll eventually discover that you're vaping for fun not because you need it.

Don't sweat it. I didn't intend to quit smoking but I did. I don't intend to stop vaping nic, maybe I will, maybe I won't, but on it's own, nicotine is a fairly benign stimulant on about the same harm level as caffeine. If you have a medical condition that means you should not drink coffee, then you shouldn't use nicotine. Otherwise...

As far as how hard will it be to quit vaping? IDK, guess it depends on the person. My plan will be to start gradually lowering nic and time spent vaping, spend more time on something else, say exercise, art, what have you, until I am just barely vaping. When will I do it? IDK, I am enjoying vaping, diy liquid, flavors, mods, the entire experience. Haven't set a date, but when I do, I will make up my mind to do so at a set time and accomplish it. My mind likes to nag me to death if I don't do something that I promised myself, so I don't THINK it will be a problem. Haven't gotten on that bridge yet.

Best of luck to you though, keep us posted on how you do!

Here were my steps more completely...

1. started out vaping 16-18mg tobacco juices only and need good TH and good tobacco aroma
2. a month later started fiddling with the tobacco flavor by adding BWB Vanilla Bean, FSUSA Chocolate, FSUSA oRYental 4 (sweet caramelly tobacco) to the plainer tobaccos
3. by the end of that month I was often vaping Vanilla Bean and some other non-tobacco flavors alone and able to vape other flavors - I was not as dependent on a strong TH. Started buying all new and replacement bottles of juice in 12mg
4. dropped down to 12mg over a weekend. I smoothed the transition by vaping a bit more (at times too much)
5. now comfortable on lower nicotine level. I am a bit needy for TH - but I do have some 12mg tobacco juices and other with spices or other throat sensations.

I hope to repeat that until I am at 0mg. Then the only addiction will be the hand to mouth dragging/inhaling.
