So where do i start? lol.. Old school guy here, I use to live on the forums about 4-5 yrs ago and it was awesome!

I was a analog smoker from about the age of 19 to 31. I quit smoking analogs 4 yrs ago and i did it all with the help of Ecigs, vaping and this Forum! I slowly brought myself down in MG dose of nicotine until i ended up vaping zero nicotine and then once i was done, I sold off my entire collection of mods and juices and never looked back!

Well 4-5 years later i notice a lot of people are now finally finding out about vaping, a friend of mind and my brother in law are vaping now and quit analogs, back when i was vaping and showed them my devices they didnt take them seriously and ignored them..

Anyways, with that said.. On the weekends i like to have a few drinks and find myself puffing on the Ecigs.. and i gave it some thought and would like to start vaping again.. mainly just on weekend or at parties and such. about a year or so ago i got into cigars.. I started collecting them, had my humidor fully stocked and it was fun but expensive! even though i would only have one on the weekends or at parties, they were pricey! i never inhaled them but regardless, they were still bad.. I usually spent 6-10.00 per cigar.A few months ago i decided to end my hobby with cigars simply because of cost.

With that said, when i went looking online at my usual places where i use to buy my stuff, i noticed EVERYTHING has changed! Now they have tanks, dual coils, digital ecigs, etc, etc... all types of crazy stuff! WOW! I feel old! lol ( i am 35 )

The one and only thing i hated about ecigs when i was vaping was having to drip everytime.. i used 801s and dipped and sometimes 510s with a cart ( and the teabag material mod ) but that was always hit or miss.. i just couldnt stand taking a few puffs and then having to break out the bottle and drip onto the atty again and again.. Now i see these tanks? that you fill up with like 3-5ml of juice? and this seems awesome!

Back then, i owned pretty much all the mods.. But the ones i loved and kept till the end where the SilverBullet and The PureSmoker prodigy ( i think that was the one ) .. I like a voltage anywhere from 3.7-5 volts.

I am currently looking at the PureSmoker Legacy

I know i could go with the dissposable type stuff but another reason i want to get back into vaping is because it was FUN! almost like a hobby collecting and trying all the different mods and what not.. So thats another good reason i want to get back into it.

Using a zero mg nicotine juice, i am not sure what voltage will work best, so i am probably interested in a ecig with adjustable voltage.

So with that said, i have a few questions..

1) Can you give me any advice on what is currently the best or most talked about Ecigs out there today? With So many out there now and me being out of the game for 4-5 years i have no clue.. Can you give me a run down of maybe the top 5 ecigs currently out there in your opnion?

2) I love the tanks when i seen them. Not knowing how they work ( they werent around when i was vaping ) i assume the atty is sealed off inside a tank? and you fill the tank, and the atty somehow just absorbs the juice i assume? and downsides to the tanks?

3) If i only plan on vaping on weekends and what not ( not everyday ) will using a tank be bad? since the juice will be sitting during the week? If so, what other method can you suggest? ( i really hate dripping )

4) Other then those tanks i see, and dripping directly onto the addy, what other new innovations are there these days that people use? i think i seen 2 other styles/types.. just curious what is most common these days? or if its strictly dripping or tanks..

Any input and or advice would be great! Thanks

Good to have you back. I remember you.

1. I'm just going to say it. Provari. I've had 3 zmax's. All three have failed. Twice repaired under warranty. This time I'm not even messing with it. I just got a Vamo a month ago. Now it's reading super low ohms and not firing. I like my Provari so much that I also have a Provari mini.

2. The tanks are usually a polycarbonate tube with plastic end caps w/ o-rings. You can buy a pre punched caromizer or punch your own holes in a cartomizer. Slip that through the tank.

3. Depends how long a tank lasts you. As the caromizer gets used, it will get gunky. In turn turning the juice nasty.

4. There are also the silica wick wicking tanks. Like the Vivi Nova, Kanger eVod (the best, imo), Kanger T3, etc.

You can Google and search all that stuff here and find everything you need to know.

Clearomizers are the easiest because you just fill and twist it back on and you can vape for hours. Like on a kanger t3
The clearomizers IMO mute the flavor of the ejuice. I would recommend a carto tank setup.
You fill or prime the cartomizer, you can buy one with holes or you can punch the holes yourself with a carto punch. Put the carto in the tank and fill the tank. The juice absorbs into the cartomizer through the holes.
Carto tanks provide good vapor and great taste.
I second the provari. I have a provari mini and it is really sweet. I think it depends on how serious of a vapor you want to be again. If it is just like once or twice a week you could probably get away with getting a cheaper device for like $50-100

I think I remember you ... you're from my active forum-era anyway. Seems like the only time I post these days is to say "I don't post much" LOL :) Anyway, I know what you mean about everything changing, because once I've found something that works for me, I have no reason to hang around here swapping ideas about tea bags and blue foam (remember that?)

I think the biggest game-changer in the last few years has been the eGo family of PV's and their spawn. Of course now there's eGo A, B, C, T, xx, double-D ... ok, I made up those last two, but there's a bunch of them, each with some improvement or feature over the prior version.

Yes, the mods are still a hot topic, and you'll get the inevitable replies about them. It's a different set of players from 4 years ago, but it's still the same game ... achieve the highest voltage you can get without melting your equipment, fingers, dog, house, etc. I dabbled in them back in the day, but these days they're not for me.

In my vaping old-age, I just want something reliable that I don't have to mess with, and eGo's hit that sweet spot for me. Based on your post I think you might want to look into them. As I started to mention, the original eGo has spawned a family of products, so here's a quick run-down of what they are so you don't get too confused/overwhelmed:

eGo A - the original one (the "A" moniker came later), one of the first non-mod tank systems. The atomizer and cartridge/tank had a stylish taper. The battery life and tank/atty performance were enough to make it hugely popular, but the atomizer suffered from the same maintenance headaches of the past, and they weren't particularly cheap. Although the atomizer itself is basically ancient history now, the tank size/style is still called "Type A".

eGo B - same as the A, but without the tapered atty/tank, so the tank held more juice. If memory serves, before it was called B it was called Mega. The guts of the atty were basically the same as the A, and similarly the atomizer itself is basically ancient history, but the tank size/style is now called "Type B".

eGo C - in this version, the atomizer was separated into a "head" and a "cone". A brilliant innovation IMO. When the atty dies, you only have to replace the head, rather than the entire atty assembly. You can buy 5 C-heads for about the same price as 2 A/B atomizers. The heads are easy to take apart for deep maintenance if you so choose, but they're also cheap enough to just throw away if you don't feel like the hassle.

The eGo batteries are all interchangeable, available in 650mah, ~1000 or 1100mah, and a couple other sizes. You choose based on your preference of long-life versus battery length. I always stuck with 650mah for the smaller size ... one charge lasts through my work day, and I rotate when I get home.

Then along came the "Twist" (now called eGo-T) which adds variable voltage (3.2-4.8) to the battery via a knob at the bottom, at the expense of a little extra length. The 650mah eGo-T is about the same size as the ~1000mah "normal" battery (whatever the kids are calling them these days).

EDIT: upon reading some posts that were discussing eGo-T in a context unrelated to the battery, I did some research and realized I was behind on my lingo. Apparently it refers to the tank system. It's highly likely that my memory is fuzzy, and the original eGo's used traditional carts with filler. Whatevs ... when the tanks came out I never looked back.

So basically A/B/C refers to atomizer style, Type A/B refers to tank style and size, and Twist refers to a battery style. Makes perfect sense, right? :D They're all interchangeable though, and I'm sure there are some other letters I've failed to mention.

The bonus is that the same C-heads are now being used in several other PV's. For example, I've been using an eRoll recently, and I love that it uses the same heads as my eGo. It's a great little PV in general, but having that standardization and interchangeability between setups is very convenient.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to get so long, but I know what it's like to be away for a while and come back to find that everything has changed, so hopefully this will help you get back up to speed ... at least as far as the eGo family goes. Welcome back, and good luck!

And after all that, I realized I basically failed at answering some of your specific questions!

#2 - In the eGo, the tank just holds the juice, and delivers it directly to the atty through a hole in the bottom when you draw on it. There's a small wick in the atty, not the tank, so you get better flavor and a more pure vape than in the old days when your juice sat soaking in the wicking material. That said, there are cartomizers that you can stick on a eGo battery that have a built-in atomizer and wick. People rave about them, but I've never tried them myself, having never gotten over the horrible experience of cartomizers in the old days. As for tank downsides, I can't think of any. They're about $1 each, and I replace mine about every 2 weeks. Around that time the hole gets enlarged and the draw is too loose for proper wicking and airflow, or some other part of the plastic has gotten worn having some other effect.

#3 - Tanks come with a condom that you can use to seal it when not in use. I've had filled tanks sitting around for weeks with no problem. When I travel I fill several tanks and put them in my pocket instead of fooling with the juice bottles.
