Hello there, new to this awesome forum, I have a question for you guys.

I have been smoking for about 13 years, about a PAD, last 2 years even more. I quit smoking on April 1st (hehe nice date for it:), and it has been the best idea in a long time.
But I read everywhere, that you should experience some lung clearing and coughing? I have yet to experience those thing, infact I never coughed whilst smoking, even after a friday night 3 pack binge.

So does it take more time, or am I just tolerant?

I smoke about 2-4 mill juice per day now 9-12mg strength and it seems sufficient to me (I was smoking Marlboro reds). Using a joyetech ecom (find it very nice, in spite of all the bad reviews here), and a Ego twist with a Kanger protank 3 and Aspire bdc. Also ordered a Mvp2. Think I might actualy spend more money on this than smoking ;D

Greetings,

I smoked 2+ PAD for over 30 years, and when I started vaping last December I didn't cough up much either. Just like smoking for about a week, then nothing really. The biggest difference was noticing how less winded I got doing strenuous work, that was really cool.

Spend as much as you want, at least your not spending it on killing yourself. Good luck

Hi and welcome!

I smoked for 40 years, at least a PAD for the last 10 and I never coughed up anything when I quit. It sounds like you're on the right path. I started vaping before I found the forums, so I picked 12mg, since I thought it was about in the middle. I figured if I didn't get enough nic I would just vape more. :)

I didn't cough much . It's ben over a year for me . I vape 3 to 4 ml a day @8mg now but when I started I was at 6 to 8 @ 36mg
After you get over the shiny's gottohave's you will spend less lol.
If I spend $5.00 a month I'm hitting the vape hard realy I have every thing I need for a year or more lol
Keep at it and best wishes

Long time no see Harlan, How's the kitty.
I didn't really cough up much either and been smoking for about 44 years, at time as much as 2PAD toward the end I was less than 1PAD. started at 12 to 18mg nic vaped about 5 to 9 ml a day. Now vaping below 5 mg and about 10 ml a day. The wife and I got 2 ego's for Chrstmas, then I bought three VV/VW's over the next 2 months and all kinds of juice, looking at total cost we are still ahead of what we would have spent on analogs. Then the windfall hit and I won three devices (VTR, 134, and LVT) in a contest so we are set for a long time to come. you will send less as time goes on and you find your flavor niche. (still kinda looking for mine. I spend about 60 to 80 a month for juice and replacement coils. We have 4 or 5 different tanks so it seems like almost every month I'm getting coils for one of them. But the adantages of not smoking out weigh the cost even if I spent triple what I do now.

The most dramatic thing I noticed was the almost immediate disappearance of the morning hack. I didn't notice any withdrawal to speak of like cravings. I must admit I still do really like the smell of a freshly lit cigarette (via lighter only). But I'm not around that many smokers so it's not a problem.
There were subtle changes that took place over time like endurance getting better, not as short of breath upon exertion, smelling better and better sense of smell and taste.
Hope this helps.....

Ah that's reassuring :)
Loving the vape experience, only downside is, I thought my car didn't have the cig smell before (used to smoke in it from time to time), but now i know it smells horrible :D Hope it will clear away eventualy.

There is a "cabin filter" in your car that should be changed now that your car is smoke free. Mine was located behind the glove compartment (location varies by car model) and cost about $10. Made a huge difference.

You and I are at about the same time frame. I started vaping April 3rd. I have not been coughing up anything but have stopped coughing and am smelling a lot better (both my ability to smell things and the way I smell!). I started with 12mg and have pretty much stayed there. I am now getting into DIY and am cutting down my nic amounts a little (last batch is at 9mg).

Haven't addressed the smell in the car yet as my wife is still using analogs along with vaping. Once she stops I plan to clean all the carpets, wipe down the headliners and change the cabin air filter...

Good luck and happy vaping!!

Some do cough up stuff, some don't. Hard to say why it is different with each person. I figured that I didn't because I would get bronchitis each year and coughed up a crap ton of junk each year.

As for withdrawal symptoms, some people are more hooked on the other addictive components in cigs rather than just the nicotine.

For myself, I was a dual user for a month and slowly weaned off of cigarettes. That might have helped me in not getting the withdrawals that I normally had, when trying to quit with other methods, previously.

Welcome to the forum and the best support group you'll ever find. :D

Never mind, dear.
I would say that if you did not have a smokers cough before, then you have nothing to cough up now.
I think the weeks of continued coughing in the mornings is more for those of use who smoked tobacco for decades and who had developed a quite ... productive ... smokers cough in the mornings. :)

You don't smoke, dear. You vape :)

Nawww. Once you have found your setup, you generally stop buying hardware like it is going out of style :)
A little something here, a little something there, sure, but not as much as when starting out and trying things out.

And look at it this way:
When you spend 50$ on cigarettes, and you smoke the cigarettes, you have nothing left, except ashes and cigarette butts.
But when you spend 50$ on vaping hardware, you get to keep the vaping hardware and to enjoy it every day :)

..........

is it bad that i coughed up stuff and had the withdraws when i switched to vaping

Nothing bad about it whatsoever :)
I coughed up stuff for 3 weeks when I made the transition to vaping, and I had the blahs from the withdrawal of the other stuff in tobacco smoke. So what? Happy vaper here, almost 2.5 years off the cigs now :)
