So I quit smoking 52 days ago after ten years of smoking a pack a day and my mother saw that it worked cause stopped for two weeks and I convinced her to buy a mini protank 2 with ego batt. But Shes smoking more than shes vaping. What can I do convince her to put those cigs down?

You are not going to make anyone quit until they are ready to. About all you can do is be supportive. Do not nag. Offer help if she needs it and maybe try to find her some other liquids to try. Hopefullly she will find one that she really loves :)

Honestly - nothing. The only people we have the power to change is outselves. Sorry.

Let me rephrase that She hasnt vaped I a while. Maybe a week. She will only Vape when I make a juice that I want her to try. Is she just not ready? But she wants to she tells me. Also she only spends 2.50 for a pack. That could be a factor

That could be part of it. As Amraann said: You can't make anyone quit and this isn't a magic wand either. The person has to have their motivation first: be it financial, health reasons, public/peer pressure etc. Otherwise you end up dealing with a person who can make a million complaints about what is wrong with vaping as to why they aren't doing it. Don't force the issue - it will only make things worse. She knows she has the option now, but until she is ready to make a serious change it just won't happen.

Just hang out with Mom and keep doing that shoving new flavors at her thing if that keeps her interest up. That, and the longer you stay quit while vaping ... she just may need more time to be fully convinced that this is a way to quit for good.

Believe me - if there was something you could do that was a sure fire way, I'd tell ya. I spent more than a decade in active addiction to "other stuff" and my family tried everything including intervention and forced inpatient rehab. Didn't stick. When the fear of continued use outweighed the fear of withdrawal, I quit, and have been clean ten years. Smoking was the same way.

Guess ill let nature take its course. Just hoping there was something i could do to better her health.

You ARE doing something to better her health unfortunately it sounds like you will need to be patient. Like others have said be supportive, try to always be positive about it and try to find a flavor that will encourage her more. Besides that you will have to let time take it's course and realize that even if she never quits you are trying and that is all that you can do. You could also show her these forums. Seeing all the positive and helpful people here may help also :)

My mother in law was simply uncomfortable vaping. It didn't feel natural to her. It didn't help when all the news stories came out about how the e-liquid was poisonous either. She now gives hubby and I lectures about how we're exposing our kids to poison.... Well, until I kinda had enough and asked her how many times she let her kids drink bleach. I don't understand why anyone would think it's harder to keep e-liquid away from small children then it is to keep anything else they shouldn't be ingesting away.

Anyway, it does take work to quit smoking. More for some then others. Just sit back and offer support if she runs into issues. Pressure never helps. In fact, pressure always drove me to smoke more.

My mother in law is the same way. She now has 3 ego batts and 5 clearo's that we've either bought or passed down to her. We buy juice for her. We clean her tanks 1-2 a week and replace her coils when needed. She vapes when she comes over, but she also will still smoke. Mrs Secutorum and I can't understand the vaping and smoking thing, but we haven't smoked for 60 years either.

We've chosen not to push her, but to enable her. It's her choice to make. We're going to make it as easy as possible for her to vape rather than smoke if she chooses to. We obviously have a vested interest in her and her health, but I'm not going to get preachy or jerkified. That's disrespectful. We love her and want the best for her. And we'll be there for her when she's ready.

Keep on making her taste new flavors and be very patient. It is hard letting go of a "old friend". If my mother was still here, I know she would have put up a fight too. Everyone does it in their own time. Don't give up just nudge every chance you get. :D Good luck to you both and let us know how it goes. I love reading stories with happy ending. :)

Go to the cigarette store and pick up some Roll Your Own cigs with filters and a filler machine. Get her kind of tobacco. Then, make up a bunch of cigs for her but put in lady finger fire crackers in each one, hidden so you can't see the wicks. You'll probably have to trim them. Slip them into her pack of smokes when she isn't looking and wait.

I'm telling you, once a few of those go off in her face like that, she'll quit smoking. Plus it's hilarious in a Tom & Jerry hijinks way

Going through the same thing with my wife. She is going to visit some friends in another state. None of them smoke and she can't smoke in the hotel or the rental car. I told her I will set her up with all the juice and batteries she wants. Its my hope that she will vape all day while with her friends.

If I an get her off cigs for a day or more I think I will have her!! I was off for a day and a half then couldn't stand the taste!

Good luck and I hope you find some way that works for your mother.
