Another thing to consider is the nicotine content. I had the same problem until just recently. I'm apparently sensitive to nicotine in my juice. All the juices at 6mg and some at 3mg would make me cough. I've recently mastered DIY for my juice so I use 2.5mg and no more coughing. That's not quite true, I now run my power up until I start coughing and then back off a little. Works much better for me. Just something else to consider.

Maybe practice smaller gentler drags and gentler inhales. Drink plenty of water.

Quite honestly, I think the issue many people face is starting out on today's more advanced equipment. I never had an issue, but I started 5.5 years ago on a small cig-a-like device that put out a small fraction of the vapor today's devices make. Then I moved up to clearos, then to modern RTAs. Many people are trying to go from cigs directly to cloud monster DTL devices and it just may be overwhelming them.

If you feel like you need more nic, seriously try Nic Salts. Get a small sample from nicotineriver.com and see if that helps. You could even make some juice with like 2mg from base and 4mg from salts to get you up to 6mg with with the throat hit of just the 2mg.

Going to disagree with your view on inhaling.

If vaping is used as a smoking cessation product as it replicates the act of smoking without the smoke.

If one doesnt inhale, they are not replicating the act of smoking and will fail, thereby picking up the cigarettes.

Say'n something Works or Doesn't Work for You is Great.

Say'n something Works or Doesn't Work for Everyone is a Myopic View at Best.

I've seen 4 or 5 very Plausible Reasons in this thread why the OP's Mom may be having problems. And none of them had anything to do with the way She is Inhaling.

I coughed a lot when I started vaping. I thought I might have to quit. Turns out I had swallowed a chicken bone which was lodged in my throat. I yakked it up like a dog in the back yard and all was fine. I blame the KFC that moved in around the corner from my house. (Don't. Don't judge me. KFC is scientifically proven to induce the same feed frenzy in humans that chum does to sharks. Must have swallowed the bone when my eyes rolled into my head on a piece of extra crispy.) Ask your mom if she has had any fried chicken lately.

Disagree all you want. That's your right, as it's just your own opinion that it won't work.

However, your last sentence in bold is a bunch of horse#&* because I had my last smoke in Jan. 2014 after smoking 1 - 1.5 PAD for 42+ years. I've always vaped the way I described, and you know what? I've never had another 1 and know I won't ever have one. The method I described also worked for @mattiem and many others on ECF.

I think this also, however I coughed the first week or so and that was over 7 years ago with basic stuff, but like you, find it hard to believe someone can go from cigs, straight into dtl vaping at hi wattage. It took me a long time to attempt dtl vaping even after years of mtl vaping. I can definitely do it now, although I still vape mtl, but it's just amazing imo how people can do that...
