LOL - the whole "article" is nothing but an advertisement for Blu. The "commenter" as well was acting for Blu. That's why he (or she) didn't like Traver's comment!

Could be but I don't see any connection to Blue within the article. They also left my reply stand and it wasn't exactly kind to Blue. I also wouldn't be surprised if Blue is just monitoring articles like this. Anyway it did give me an opportunity to add links to ECF and CASSA.

We should take any opportunity that comes along to add links to ECF and CASSA. The more links there are to a website the higher it will be on Google's page rank. A higher page rank makes it more likely to be near the top in searches. We want that.

I still had a copy of the article up on my screen. Here are some quotes from it:

"A new study found that 31 percent of smokers who were first-time buyers of “Blu” e-cigarettes reported that they had completely stopped smoking six months after buying them."

"The “Blue” brand of e-cigarettes provides nicotine to users without any combustion or smoke and doesn’t have any of the chemicals found in tobacco cigarettes, some of which are carcinogenic. The “Blue” e-cigarettes come in normal tobacco flavor and the more exotic Cherry Crush, Java Jolt and Magnificent Menthol."

Yes, I still maintain the article was nothing but a disguised ad for Blu. And the fact that's it's now been taken down doesn't change that belief.

Actually, before there were three tabs, with the story you quoted from on the first tab "Article". What you see on the "Lab Report" tab is what was there before, and merely summarizes Dr. Siegel's study without editorializing about how wonderful the brand is.

So they removed the Article tab altogether and blanked out the Comments page.

I suspect that if you put your comments back in, they won't be removed.

If it was supposed to be an ad, it wasn't a very effective one since they misspelled the name of the company all three times. ;)

Commenting was removed for the research, actually - not sure if it was allowed in the first place. I sent a politely-worded e-mail saying it was an interesting article, and asked why it was removed. I'll say something if I get a response.

For me it was worth posting a comment and that's about all. I red and can put up at least a half a dozen sites like this a day but people would get burn't out and not bother anymore. It boils down to would you rather spend your effort in reaching hundreds of thousands of people or a few hundred. The site below has a google page ranking of 5 and Alexia ranking of 38,500. that puts it within the top 8 percent of searches on the net. That means the site but not this page will be getting at least hundreds of thousands of visits a month.

The first site had an Alexia ranking of about 400,000. Meaning that 400,00s sites on the net get more visits.

Posting Comments doesn't work for me anymore. Any way this site is just too small to be worth all of this trouble.

Here's another one about free trial ripoffs.

BBB: Direct E-cig 'free' offer a real drag | todaysthv.com

The one below gets a lot more traffic

'Free trial' for electronic cigarettes costs some customers more than they expect | abc13.com

Left this comment:

There is a standing announcement on e-cigarette-forum warning people to steer clear of so-called free trials. It is an absolute shame that unscrupulous companies are giving e-cigarettes a bad name. I must point out, however, that a statement of conjecture in the FDA's release was reported in this story as if it were a proven fact. The words in the FDA's press release, "Public health experts expressed concern that the products could," were changed to "The FDA said the products can." This is not the case. In fact, e-cigarette vapor contains much lower levels of nicotine than cigarette smoke, and e-cigarettes have not caused an increase in tobacco use among youth. In fact, adults who smoked for decades, who had almost given up all hope of every being able to quit, are successfully using e-cigarettes as a replacement for all their smoked cigarettes. Over 90% report that their health has imroved. E-cigarette-forum provides product reviews as well as advice and support on product use.
