Hi all, I've been lurking here for over a week and I really like the forum.

I had been smoking about 30yrs. I had tried quitting so many times I lost count. I did manage once for 2.5yrs but a very stressful time brought me right back. That time I pretty much went cold turkey, 3 days of patches then nothing. But when I picked them back up all it took was a week and I was back to a 1 to 1-1/2 pack a day habit, that was in 2009.
I've been vaping Blu's and then the Vea since my birthday on 9/19 and have not had an analog since 9/23. I am determined this time!!!

My wife has been smoking a little longer than I and has never had any desire to quit, whatsoever... She has psoriasis and has also developed a very curable type of skin cancer that pops up on her legs and arms (not melanoma). The cancer is due to psoriasis light treatments over 20yrs ago. She is now on a drug call Soriatane that keeps her pretty much clear of psoriasis and has an add benefit of keeping the cancer mostly in check.

We went to see a different specialist last February. He is very highly regarded in the field and he wants to try a new type of treatment that may cure her of both the psoriasis and cancer. He also said that due to her smoking the absorption rate of the Soriatane in her body is greatly reduced, by as much as half. Needless to say we learned a lot from that visit.
The treatment is quite invasive. They will be chemically stripping the outer layer of skin and wrapping the area with new re-genitive compound. He doesn't want anything in her system that will restrict blood flow which will ...... the healing process. So he will not even consider starting the treatment until she has been smoke free for at least 3 months. This means nicotine too...

This has for the 1st time given her the motivation to quit but she hasn't been very successful. 1st she was going to quit on her birthday last May... Then it was 10/1... She has been doing better this time but I don't believe she's completely put down the stinkies. She started using the njoy's a couple weeks ago but they really irritated her throat. So I gave her the Blu's that I was using and she seems to like them better. I'm hoping she will be willing to give the Vea a try at some point soon and I will be refilling the Blu carts with the VG only Red Oak line from JC.

I've already started cutting my nicotine and I know I will be able to handle it but I'm worried what will happen when she starts cutting back on it too.

I would also like to get a Mini Protank 2 next but I don't know what PV to mate it to. I really don't want anything to large. Will the Vea work? or maybe something slightly larger? Also the Mini must be the ones with the removable tips.

Any advice anyone may have is most welcome.

First, congrats on kicking the analog habit!! Hope it continues for you. If you're interested in the miniPT 2 to use with the Vea, I believe that you'll need an eGo-510 adapter (the mini is eGo threaded). Though, I think it's only the PT 2 (not the mini) that comes with a removable tip, & the PT 2 is 510 threaded, so no adapter needed for the Vea.

Sorry to hear about your wife's issues. I may suggest some patience, though, when it comes to stinkie elimination. Each of us gets to the point of quitting on our own time - with or without secondary motivation. Perhaps setting up steps (for example, find a vaping setup she'd like first, then smoke reduction, then quitting). Just a thought.

Hope it all works out for both of you!! :vapor:

Thanks for the the thoughts and the props on quitting analogs.

I know I need to be more patient with her. She is just very hard headed. She doesn't want to even look at anything other than a Blu style mini. I know she's going through all the noob mistakes and probably not getting enough nicotine at this point.

Any ideas of a better mini that will produce more vapor and hold more juice but still retain a small form?

I was a 3 pad smoker for 35 yrs. We did not start analogs and jump straight to 1 2 or 3 packs a day. When I started vaping I didnt stop analogs the first day or first few weeks. If you smoked 1 to 2 packs a day and are down to a few a day then to me that is the right direction. The worst thing to do is to start putting pressure on yourself to go straight to zero nic. I went from 1 analog an hour to zero analogs in about 3 weeks. If she is cutting back let her and her body cut back to where she can stay off of the stinkys. It is hard enough trying to just not grab one and lite up. As far as a better device, go to the forum suppliers page and check out all the different things that are available.

Good Luck to you both, keep us posted

Maybe she can set a goal of being nice free by, say, Easter or her birthday. Then maybe she will feel like she still has plenty of time to transition from cigs to vaping with nic to gradually 0 nic. At the end she has a great bonus to look forward to. That sounds like a wonderful treatment! By this time next year she could be smoke free, psoriasis free, and cancer free!

Switching from smoking to using only nicotine is harder than most would think. If she just can't get into the feeling of vaping, try using Whole Tobacco Alkaloid liquid/WTAs.

The most important thing is to quit smoking. Start with the higher nicotine liquids, and she can jump off of pure nicotine cold turkey far easier. I'd only use the WTAs to integrate her into vaping, if she even has a difficult transition. Once she starts to like it better, start cutting the extra compounds out to get to basic e-liquid.

I hope you guys do well with it. If she does stop, tell her it's just for the time required, but just agree/reason that if returning to nicotine use that it'd be through vaping.
