Hi,
I don't know if this is of interest to anyone but it is (to me) an interesting anecdote.
Years ago when I was in my late 20's and my wife wanted me to quit smoking there was an
ad in the paper (no internet at the time) for quitting smoking. I replied to the ad and was given a consultation meeting.
After the meeting I was given a cassette tape and paid $250.
I was instructed to smoke a carton of cigarettes in one 24hr period and at night to play the recording on the tape while I slept.
Well I was so nauseated after smoking a carton of cigs I couldn't look at them. But after a few months was back to smoking!
Now I have taken up vaping I haven't had a great interest in cigs and kinda enjoying it.

I smoked for 40 years and I remember the overdose method to quit. Back then, the only real way to quit was cold turkey. I believe that cigarettes back in the day may not have had so many chemicals in them as present day cigarettes.

Edit: I think that the BT companies added a whole lot more to them in the last 30 or so years to make them more addictive.

vape and smoke the ones you feel you have to until you decide that you don't need the cigs anymore. What made me realize that was when I started smoking my after dinner cig along with my vape. I'd puff one and then the other and think about how they both tasted. The cig tasted pretty nasty and the vape tasted really good. Once I got my brain wrapped around that little piece of info, I was able to quit and never look back. I finished that pack and quit with no withdrawal cravings and no remorse.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the story. I can't imagine quitting the cigs cold turkey, and I really didn't think I would ever quit. When I
started vaping I promised myself that I would not torture myself, and if I needed to smoke a cig, I would. I still have
a carton, less seven cigs. I knew that if I told myself I couldn't ever smoke another cig, it just wouldn't work, and today
is my 3 month anniversary without a cig. I really don't think about them most days.

Welcome GrandPapa to ECF. At one point of trying to quit smoking I tried hypnotism for $125. As soon as that class ended I asked for a refund because I was going to the car to smoke a cigarette.....no refund. Tried Chantix, Patches and Gum....all failed.

It took me a few different setups when I first started vaping....I found the right one and it's been 10 months since I had a cigarette.

Good Luck to You....Happy Vaping!!!

I quit smoking once for 6 months using the Allen Carr's easy way book

I love that book, he's amazing. I actually offerered the book here in the Classifieds but no interest.....even if taking up vaping, or wanting to lose weight or whatever.....to me it's a must-read......get's your "head" into the right place.

I have been smoking for 44 years. 3 packs a day for probably the last 10 yrs or so. I have been vaping for about 5 months now, but still don't seem to be able to get off the cigs. I am down to about a half pack a day, but I really want to be done. Cigs taste like crap, yet I still light up. I have tried higher Nic, lower Nic, loads of flavors, high ohms, sub ohms, rba's, rda's, etc.
My current setup is a VaporShark rDNA with a Kayfun Lite at 1.4 ohms and loving Bobas bounty 12 mg.
If anyone can suggest anything that will help me finally kick this horrible cigarette addiction, please let me know. Thanks folks!

WoodstockDave:

Try the WTA juices, that's a juice with Whole Tobacco Alkaloids (WTA). Do a little research on here and see if you think it will work for you. I've talked to a few people now who have tried to make the total switch to vaping and had quite the struggle... after trying some of the WTA juices, they are reporting back that the cigarette cravings are pretty much gone now! Sounds like something worth looking in to...

First off look at the bright side. Smoking 1/2 pack a day is much better than smoking 3 packs a day -- that's progress!

However: 12mg / ml simply isn't enough for a 3 PAD smoker. Go to WholeCig.com, get a bottle of 36 mg unflavored WTA base to mix it in with that Bobas. A 50/50 mix with give you 24 mg. Or put it in another device and hit it straight up when you have a craving for cigarette. Take some hits from it before you decide whether you really need that cig. There were occasions in the first month or two when I had cravings for a cig after a meal. For some reason right after lunch was the worst. I was vaping 18 mg liquids in tanks at the time. A bit of that 36 mg WTA base in dripper killed those cravings for me every time.
