Day 4. You've pretty well got it whipped now gal! The first three days seem to be the worst for most people and after that it just gets a little easier every day. Especially, getting that first weekend out of the way. I'm really proud of you Maureen! Stay after it.

And LD, forget it, you are one hell of a nice guy and I'll never let up on you in any Thread, anywhere until you quit smoking. If this purty little girl can do it, a big, tough guy like you surely can too.

Now now TT....if you notice....I've been using this here e-cig for a year and almost 4 months now...so give LD a break and some time....as long as he doesn't give up anything is possible. I was down to an average of 2 cigs a day and weekends (usually about 2 packs a week) from 2 packs a day. I decided that I wasn't giving up no matter what this time. Now my motivation is to remember what withdrawal felt like....because it sucked and I don't want to deal with it again.

Congrats Maureen! Wow that's awesome. :)

We are more than happy to help you get of cigarettes. It's fantastic watching you overcome. It is all you, you know.

Don't worry about what might happen, and if you slip. I slip too once in a while (yes, really). I don't let it bother me when I have a cigarette. It's pretty rare, and one cigarette is no big deal. Just as long as I go back to vaping.

Take the pressure off yourself. Because now you know you can do it, and that you don't need cigarettes, and the hard part is over.

congrats Maureen!! Keep on keeping on!!

I'm on week 5, had a rough day yesterday but made it through. During each craving I vaped my head off and reminded myself that cigarettes will cause me to start wheezing again & throw me into an asthma attack - and I don't have an inhaler at the moment! I'd have to rush into the Dr's office or ER to get a script.... it was enough to get me through my cravings. thank goodness. All's right with the world again today.

Every day without one is another few minutes tacked onto your life.

It takes some people a day to quit and it take some people years to quit. You already made a BIG accomplishment by finding a community that will support you in whatever choice you decide to make. We won't bash you and we will help you along your journey to becoming smoke free, no matter how long it takes. I will share something with you so you won't feel bad (or anyone else reading this thread). I started school again on the 18th and before I had no desire to smoke. I got a sample of pure cig thinking that I was missing the "taste" of an analog. As soon as I took 2 puffs of pure cig, the ashy taste of it triggered my brain and I smoked 2 analogs :( I cried because I felt like I not only let myself down but I let down my son and my friends in the vaping community.

I threw away the remaining pack that I had stashed for months and I swore to NEVER look for another e-juice that was close to a analog because it triggers my brain to want one. That may sound crazy to most people but now I know why I only stayed with fruit or sweet flavors lol BUT the main thing is we ALL have setbacks in life no matter what it is, but it's the little steps back in the right direction that will make everything better.

Good for you Maureen, day 4 and that is just so great! Like MN said, and everyone else, take the pressure off yourself. Same was said to me, if I did have an analog...but you know what, I really don't want one lately. I get triggers and crave one, but I'm not buying a pack, and there isn't any around here anymore. I did find one in a pack in my jacket, and gave to my boss. Few days later I found a pack with few in there in the camping bag, and I threw them out, it felt good.
757...purecig didn't send that kind of trigger for me, but I did finish that bottle, lol. Good to know you recognized the trigger and avoid tobacco kinds. Hang in there, it all still good.

Congrats on your success Maureen!

In my opinion, any analog I avoid by vaping is a huge success!

At first I put a lot of pressure on myself to forget analogs altogether; but, I found that after 3 days of not smoking I wasn't getting the satisfaction I wanted. I found out after getting some FSUSA juices that my juice selection was a part of the problem. However, I really wanted a smoke and realized that I was not going to give them up completely.

Now, within a week, I am down to 1 - 3 smokes and I usually go a day without an analog in between. Ultimately, even if I still slip up, I know that I am helping my health a huge amount with every analog I can avoid. Now I've realized that the taste of analogs really is bad and I much prefer vaping, I'm sure that soon I will make the full time switch!

We're here for support! In your own time you'll be successful!

Thanks everyone....I made it to day 5. Yesterday was a tough one...I got a call from my phone company telling me that I am 1300+ minutes over my plan for the month. If I can deal with that (a 600 dollar bill that I used 72 minutes of...) without a cig than I can do anything. I was hoping to get out and jog it off last night, but it really was too cold here. Maybe I need to find myself a replacement Ipod (mine was stolen) and the cold won't matter so much. I've gained a little weight since I started using my ecig (even before I quit completely) and find that I am hungry more often now. I'm still kind of shocked at the moment because I really "wanted" to smoke one of those cigs that I had in my pocket yesterday after the whole conversation with my sister about my wireless bill, but I made it through without.

Maureen, today is DAY 6 HOORAY!!!! Your doing a fantastic job even in the face of that adversity! All kidding aside, I'm really sooo proud of you.

I do agree that you need to get yourself a present and a new iPod would be perfect. Loading it with your music will give you something to do and will help keep your mind off everything. And it really is time for you to start calling yourself an ex-smoker! You are through the worst of it.

Oh, and don't worry too much about the jogging or the little bit of extra weight. I looove fluffy women!

Now now TT....It's only day 5, but I'm not happy with the fluff. Unfortunately in my family weight and diabetes is a problem (and I play so much volleyball that I need to be ready for doubles season in the spring) and the pooch has to go.

I picked my sister up yesterday and took her down to my parents house for coffee (and to sort the wireless mess out) and my great niece found a pic of her father and as a three year old would....started talking about remembering her daddy. My sis and I both lost it and I went outside with her while she smoked. I guess I'm coming to find that even with a pack of smokes in my pocket I've lost the "jones'" which is pretty awesome.

Thanks Cassie....unfortunately my sweet tooth is a salty tooth....I don't think I've been munching too much more than I used to (always been a junk food junkie), but I think that being over 30 is starting to catch up with me. Also with the last year the way it was I've been less active. I am going to try the peppered jerky, but I'm kind of scared :)

That's amazing Maureen. :) You're doing so well. Standing outside with someone who's smoking can be a really big trigger.

If you've got a sweet tooth, maybe try mixing it up with some flavors that remind you of the kind of stuff you'd normally munch on.

It makes me so happy to see you overcoming.
