Wow, this is quite the air show. Where was this? It had just about everything, lol. One plane, the helicopter plane, I have no idea what it is, reminded me of this from when I was a kid:

I have yet to see the Airbus A380. I don't think it can land here in Detroit yet. An Antonov came in last summer stopping for fuel on its way to Alaska. Didn't see that one in the video. I joked with everyone saying that I was going to leave with them to be a real communist unlike everyone I was leaving behind to become Chinese communist.

Hey Kookie,

That air show is held each year in Oshkosh, WI. Its a blast to fly in there and for the week of the airshow Oshkosh has the most traffic both take off and landings in the US.

When you fly in there you don't even talk to the controllers you just shut up, watch and listen. Then you land on the color dot you are assigned. However while you are landing on your dot on the runway 2 other airplanes are doing the same thing at the same time. Its madness but it works. Will work in a video soon about some more aviation stuff.

How neat! My husband has been to Oshkosh for the Air Show. When we lived in England, we took our kids to Duxford for the airshow there every year (were members of the museum, too!) Now we are in San Diego and get to see the Mira Mar show...Thanks to the sequestration, no Blue Angels for a while :(

My dad flew A4Ds and F8Us so I grew up around lots of airshows!! My father in law flew aircrew on SF2s and my hubby is a huge aircraft fanatic. Maybe one day he'll have time to get his pilot's license.

You are one lucky guy Jerry!

Wow, awesome! Yeah, Oshkosh. I've almost gone to their airshow before, but years ago. (Never did go. Rats! ) Been to Oshkosh, but not during the airshow. Love Wisconsin! After visiting the state for business, went back several times on vacation.

Flying in would be so cool. I am a lowly ground handler though. (Couldn't afford to go anyhow unless I left the airport for a real paying job. The only reason I've stayed so far is because I really do enjoy working with aircraft. So, procrastinating on that better job, teehee.

You are one lucky guy Jerry!

Agreed. Luck though? It's more like rewards for good hard work. Still... lucky dog you, lol.

Seems like a lot of aviation people wind up on the Aroma subforum.

Yeah, what is up with this?

Ok, my submission since this is radio request line. I just like these guys. (Not on subject, although appropriate for seeing a post from me, lol):

Cnew,

Thank you for the great story. I totally agree with you that I'm lucky to have a great gig in a different industry. I love my other job and miss it. There is a reason why my lab is only 30 yards from a runway.

Duxford is a big event and I'm sure it was a blast attending.

I work and fly a special event each year that honors fallen aviators from the UK. We mainly use spitfires but its a honor to be a part of.

I have a buddy that owns a A-4 in here Arizona (one of 2 flying). I also have a friend who owns a Sea Harrier Jet (its the Jet that can take off vertically with little to no runway). Both of these fighters are Military jets but can be purchased if you have the money.

I was lucky to go up in a T-2 Buckeye. I would venture to guess you father trained in T-2 Buckeye Jet when he was in the service.

If the US was not in a budget crunch I would say come on out to Miramar and enjoy the wall of flame and see the Blue Angels up close and personal. I have worked that show several for several and its always a honor to work with the Marines. I love the Blue Angels and its a real shame they are not flying this year. Never fear there are still plenty of air shows near by that have a great display of warbirds. In fact I think something is going on in Palm Springs (Air Museum) and the Collins Foundation (B17, P51, etc) very soon.

Now you mentioned that your hubby likes airplanes....do you like airplanes? Do you like to fly? Have you ever been up in a small airplane? Would like to go up and try to fly? Its not that hard. I have several friends that live near San Diego and enjoy flying.

I know a few women also in Cali that could take you up as well.

Now this is a stretch but to tie a video into this lets go with Pat Bentar and some airplanes. This was shot outside of Corona with the Condor Squad Airplanes (T-6 / SNJ) It was shot back in the early 80's, before I while I was in Jr. High. I had a major crush her when I was a kid.

Thanks Jer! Great song!
No, I'm afraid I am a total scardey-cat re: flying a plane. I am just not a huge risk taker.
But I do appreciate the beauty of airplanes and admire the genius of people smart enough to design them (and those brave enough to fly them!!)
and air shows are always fun!

Hey Gang,

Figured Sunday is a nice day to do a double shot. Today's theme is Women that can Rock.

Feel free to post your fave performer. You can go old school with Patty Labell to someone new.

First double shot out to Sheryl Crow. She can rock the house and looks super hot.

I think its time to hit the beach. I'm taking the day and so should you....hope you enjoy.

took your advice Jerry. just kicked back watching movies and dripping G.I Joe all day. Didn't even think about work and I guess I really needed it because I sure feel rested and ready to go back at it
