I think you are worried for nothing. I can't tell you how many x-rays I have had on my body. I am not radioactive. My grandmother had actual radiation treatment for cancer. She never became radioactive.

If USPS x-rays packages, then they xray lots of different packages. I ship cookies to friends every now and then. No one who has eaten my cookies has had any negative reaction, nor do I suspect that my cookies were radioactive.

Try not to worry. and welcome to ECF!

Keep Calm and :vapor: on!

Yep.

X-rays affect living cells, but not objects or eliquid. From the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission's webiste:

Despite their ability to penetrate other materials, in general, neither gamma rays nor x-rays have the ability to make anything radioactive.

HI, I usually order my e-liquids online from another country. I was wondering if the USPS x-rays all of my juices when they come into the states? If so is it unhealthy to constantly vape juices that have been x-rayed? Wouldn't this be like getting a constant does of radiation? Or am I worried for nothing?

Hi, Acies, and Welcome to ECF.

I sincerely hope you asked this as a serious question. The answer is "no, it is not unsafe to vape liquids that have been x-rayed".

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the fact that a large percentage of the produce available in the US undergoes exactly the same process?

Food Irradiation: What You Need to Know

Edit: and by the way, irradiation of food is done at MUCH higher levels than the x-rays used to scan items, because it's designed to be intense enough to kill parasites, whereas for scanning, you use much lower levels.

If you are really worried after reading the responses here on this thread. . . send the juices to me first and I will vape half the bottle and if I have no symptoms within 30 days, I will send you completely safe juice to vape. No need to thank me, it is just the kind of woman I am.

Thanks for all the replies. I was unaware that much of our food is xrayed. I was a little worried because xray technicians have to shield themselves behind lead as to not be exposed to a constant does of radiation but if even gamma rays are unable to make objects radioactive then I am sure I have nothing to worry about. I am glad I do not have to worry about getting cancer from x rayed eliquids. Thanks again

This is just because of the sheer amount of x-rays they perform, which would create a hazard for them just because of how much time they spend around the equipment while it's in operation. While the machine is off, nothing is being emitted so there's no hazard, only when the device is in use is any radiation being emitted.
