I can't find this 2mm threaded bolt. I've tried the standard paperclip method but it's a little sloppy.
That's my next trek. I think that may be close to a 4/32, which I should be able to get through work. 6/32 is a little too much, I think. I'll work on this the next few days.:)

Should I be looking for something like this: DUB695 Threaded Couplers 2mm (2) | eBay

Heard back from Ralikar on this and he linked me the type of bolt he's using. It appears to be 2mm threads on a 2mm hex key sized bolt... That leads me to believe the diameter of said bolt is 2mm as well. With that said, I'm thinking the one you linked would be perfect for this endeavor.

Thanks for the input guys. iKNOW, I went ahead and ordered these screws since they're so cheap. I have some 4-40 screws from Lowes but they were a little larger than what I wanted. My cotton wick isn't all too thick so a tighter wound coil was what I was looking for. I'm gonna post back when the screws arrive (the ones I linked).

To be honest, I don't think that you absolutely need the 2mm threaded bolt. Here is a video I made after reading this thread, using an ordinary nail found in my garage.

Easy method to rebuild the Vivi Nova - YouTube

The diameter of the screw/nail was an unknown variable, I mean you wouldn't want to use a 1/4 inch diameter nail/screw for this even if it had 2mm threads. That's why I needed clarification. I've never rebuilt a head and have no idea how wide the coil's diameter needs to be lol. Just trying to do it right the first time instead of wasting materials through trial and error if at all possible.

Thanks for making the vid, I'll check it out.

Just find a nail which is roughly the same size as the diameter of your wick. If it slides around very easily on the wick find a smaller nail and go from there. If you can't for the life of you get the wick in the cool, chances are that the nail you used was too small.

Yeah, update on the 2mm diameter deal. Like iKNOW said, the diameters are relative. I use cotton wick and I unbraid it so that i have loose stands. The diameter of the screw/nail/paperclip is relative to the thickness of my cotton strands. However, the threads on the screw help make for some beautiful looking coils when I'm done. Nice and even. I've rewicked all of my extra heads that came with my two 3.5mL tanks. I find my niChrome is easier to coil with than my Kanthal.

Why are you guys hijacking this thread with misinformation?

The whole process is to use a 2mm screw for unity of the coils and to work with the 2 strand wick. You don't have to do it this way but stop posting other methods to confuse people. You may actually want to read my post and understand it before posting wrong stuff. The 2 strand wick works with the 2 mm coil: the point of the post.

Start your own mod thread but you're spamming this up and confusing people with wrong information. READ THE THREAD: it's not about what pin or nail or pencil or wick YOU'RE using it's a mod for a standardized 2mm coil/ 2 strand wick.

2mm coil, 2 strands of 4 strand (#4) cotton= standardized.

I don't care if you wrap your coils around a table lamp and use a rope for the wick--post that on the Vivi Nova 32+ page mod forum. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF THE WHOLE POST/MOD PLEASE.
