I run numbers to but I get a cut of the action.

Have done over 200 runs with a random number generator, still no winner. Have to go take care of a few things but will run it again when I get home. Sorry for the delay everyone.
I don't understand why you don't pick one number and then the winner is the closest to that number (which is pretty standard for these types of contests)?
I asked that in the last contest and you never answered. Obviously, you can do whatever you wish, but it would be much easier (and also provides more strategy during the game).

The one that picked their number first, not really any different than if 2 people have the same number he draws.
If I was the one to do it, I would keep rerolling new numbers like he's doing. Else, let's say the random number is 2450, now you need to search for 2450, 2451, 2452, 2453 and also 2449, 2448, 2447, 2446, until you find a winner both way and pick the closest one or the one that posted first if they are equally apart. Sounds to me it could take a long time.
I'm amazed there's no winner after 200 runs, we probably picked about 500 numbers out of 5,000, that means you have 1 chance out of 10 to pick a number someone chose...
What Spartan said. And if there are more than one that is eligible for the prize, then do a random generator with just those two numbers. That is the way it is typically done with these type of contests.
Course the other way works too. Just might take longer.

Look how many posts there are... this one is eleven thirty five. Not sure how many duplicates there are, but I'd bet we picked more than five hundred different numbers, probably closer to a thousand.
But that's the beauty of random.org. Just a big game off Battleship & no one's getting hit yet. Random could be spitting out the same number more than once as well. I like how it's structured - gotta get your number picked none of this closest stuff. That's for pansies! The suspense!! 8-o
yeah it will take a while considering 4 out of 5 at least will not be a number any of us picked.... but who cares, waited this long, haven't we?

Having done many of Sir Morandir's contest I can attest to the fact that he holds fairness and integrity above all else when it comes to picking the winner. I for one greatly appreciate the opportunity to have a chance to participate. I have PIF'd every one of the devices that I was lucky enough to win except the first which I use daily. His knowledge and guidance has saved many of my friends and family. A little patience is warranted when you think of the great stuff he gives. Enjoy the weekend!
