Hi all - just had some random questions for everyone after browsing through the New Members Information section and trying a few searches:

1) I'm curious as to the "shelf life" of standard pre-filled cartos. In this case, Blu 100's or even the equivalent/smaller normal 510s, standard blu's, volcanoecigs, greensmoke, etc. For clarity, I'm not asking about the puffs/nicotine content, but rather "how long can my new cartos sit on my shelf before the liquid goes bad?". Obviously, this would depend on whether they sat in Blu's warehouse for 1 day or 10 months, but I'd expect (Java Jolt aside) this factor to be reasonably constant. Also as an FYI, I am not asking "Who wants to be the first to tell me to go buy an eGo, or to advise me to return my Blu while I still can?" - I'm quite happy with the Blu as a means to an end: weening myself off of nicotine all together, gradually tapering down the nicotine content. If and when I decide that I want to keep vaping with 0 nicotine juice, then I'll revisit my hardware at that time.

2) Would the same shelf life apply to 15ml/30m bottles of juice from volcanoecigs or other sources?

3) Just checking for clarity - but I believe I'm OK to use my Blu 100 battery (longer and somewhat wider than their original battery) with volcano carts or standard 510 carts from other vendors, no? The thread would obviously fit, but I'm worried about my 100 battery running "too hot" for the smaller carts.

4) Again, I've seen different answers on this question on this forum: can I use a blu cig USB charger (the USB charger to which you screw on your e-cig battery, not the wall/usb/mini-usb combo that charges the pack) to charge a volcano cigs battery, or vice-versa? I believe the answer to be yes for these two specific brands only, as they both feature reversed polarity. As info, the standard blu battery and the blu 100 use the same USB charger, so there's no difference in this regard between the two models.

5) 1ml per standard 510 carto is a good baseline estimate to use when I'm trying to analyze the cost savings of moving from pre-filled cartos to filling my own with e-juice?

Many more to follow

Where you least expect it....
Well, I'm glad that the Blu works for you. Hopefully you will reach your goal soon.

E-Liquid/Nicotine has a shelf life of a year or two. It should be stored in a cool and dark place. You will actually get better shelf life from your bottles compared to your pre-filled cartomizers. As you have stated. The time they have been sitting on the shelf is unknown.

If the battery has the same threading as your blu. Then you should be fine. It won't run hotter or cooler than the battery your using now. I would recommend you use the charger that came with the kit for safety purposes.

An average sized cartomizer holds 1ml of e-liquid. You will definitely be saving more money filling your own cartomizers than buying pre-filled.

Sounds like your goals are similar to mine. I have the Blu Premium 100 and I just love it. Been 4 weeks analog free since starting to use the Blu.

According to the faq's at the blucig wiki site, the Blu cartos have a shelf life of 2 years and the Premium 100 carts hold 1.4 milligrams of juice. blu electronic cigarettes use e-juice from Johnson Creek | blu Cigs E Cigarettes I also read somewhere that the carts you order from their site are most likely no more than one month old.

I saw a link to another vendor who makes prefilled carts that are advertized as compatible with the Blu cigs (and some others). Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | Jet Cigs I have not tried them and most likely won't because they are pg/vg whereas Blu's are vg only, which I prefer.

I purchased some blank 510 SR (Standard resistance) cartomizers and filled them with some ejuice. The ones I bought seemed a lot more "airy" in the draw. Don't care for them much. Not sure if that is typical of all brands. I thought I purchased Boge brand, but now that I look at the carton they were packaged in, there is nothing on it that says Boge, so not sure what brand they really are.

I think the Volt is considered a 510 but the cartomizers and batteries are oppositely threaded/gendered than the Blu. So, don't assume all will work on the Blu cig. I could be incorrect about the Smokeless Image Volt being a 510, though.

Sorry, I don't know anything about your charger questions.

The past few days, I've been using an Ego C a friend loaned me. I have to say, I prefer my Blu cigs for convenience and especially through my work day or running errands. The Ego C is nice for at home. I like the size of the Blu's and the prefilled cartos and the pack for toting around. No muss, no fuss and much more discreet. I can carry a Blu battery or two and a couple of carts in a pocket without worry, if I don't want to even carry the pack. I purchased 2 additional Blu batteries, so I make it through my day easily with 4 fully charged batteries to start off with in the morning along with a fully charged pack. I pretty much chain vape on my way to and from work and at lunch and breaks,...

Good luck with your goals.

Thanks for the info! I'm quite happy with the 100 as well, and I've been looking to pick up a couple of spare batteries as well.

How are you finding Blu's flavors? I'm thoroughly disappointed by the Java Jolt, not so much the taste itself as the vapor production and how hard I have to try to get ANY vapor. I suspect that these were in the warehouse too long, but it could be the juice itself as my friend had the same experience with Java Jolt specifically a month earlier. Looking forward to trying the vanilla (unavailable in 100!!) and the menthol (used the menthol disposables, and loved them - cartos also unavailable!). Tobacco is a decent choice but I prefer the others. I've been very surprised by Peach and Pina, which will be my go-to flavors I think. Cherry as well. Carto order 2 en route, and I'm tapering down the nicotine level for some of the packs, so we'll see about the throat hit.

I do think I see myself moving over to Volcano cartos to have some more flexibility in flavors, and in starting to fill carts on my own at a lower overall cost.

I was also tempted by the Jet Cigs, but that will probably be a few orders down the road if at all!

Good luck with your goals.

Thank you, and likewise!

I am pretty sure Blu is VG, so the vapor should be there. Maybe it dried out a bit?

I actually LIKE the Java Jolt, disliked the Cherry so bad I took 2 hits and dumped that! Blechh

I am glad you like the Blu, and it is working for you, that is the MOST important thing. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for me to stay of cigarettes. I was constantly sucking those batteries dead! Even the 510's only lasted me an hour. I guess I just needed more. I even bought refill liquid for them and refilled the blu's before I realized I could buy blanks and use them. As long as the threads are 510, it all works. I sometimes take out a blu carto and put it on mine just because LOL.

Yeah, I had the same problem with the Java Jolt, hard to puff and don't last and frankly, it was probably my least favorite flavor of all. It's just like smoking a coffee bean, to me. Yet, once in awhile it is a nice switch for a puff or two. The company seems to be very good about standing behind their products - even the consumables which are usually not warranted at all. If you have a problem with the cartos, contact them and they will make it right. You may have to send the carts back to them, they say it's so they can try to find out what the problem is.

I love the vanilla best. At first, the cherry was a little overwhelming, but I find that my tastes do change and there are days where I prefer to use the cherry all day. Pina colada is darn tasty, too. I also like their classic tobacco. Not a big fan of peach anything, but tried it - it's okay, the flavor lasts a long time - lots of folks love it, per some of the reviews at the site and at the facebook page.

Ohhh, and something I learned last week, you can get to a point that you cannot taste anything from any of the cartos or any other self made carto, either. I chain vaped one day and later that day and the next day couldn't taste a thing when I vaped. Though, it's weird, I could taste food just fine. Apparently this is a result of the dehydrating nature of vaping. Drink lots of water to counteract. It took me a few cart changes before I realized it was me and not bad carts. It's kind of hard not to chain vape when a flavor is so darn good and it's one of those days when you have the opportunity to vape a lot.

I was smoking at a minimum 1.5 packs of cigs per day, more like 2+ and some days almost 3 packs. Haven't had a real cig since the second day of starting the Blu's. Happy about that. Sorry, I'm rambling on....

Volts are 808s, not 510s. The larger Volt X2 is 808 and also EGO threaded.

Blu is VG, yes. All of the other flavors produce an awesome vapor with a throat hit, Java Jolt produces vapor at the beginning, then transitions to where I need to take 3 or 4 puffs in order to get any vapor - and the minimal throat hit at the start all but disappears after a few puffs.

The company put out some videos about helpful hints for carts that are troublesome, but the tricks don't work for me w/ Java Jolt. I'll give it another try on a future order, as the flavor would be good for an early morning vape. However, I think I'll look elsewhere for a coffee flavor if it doesn't work out.
