I really enjoy vaping, so far. I like the taste and the sensation. It's taking some getting used to... kinda like switching to light cigs after being on regulars for a long time.

At first I had the oddest thing going on... I'd take a few hits off my 510 and... immediately crave an analog! I thought, "This ain't gonna work if this keeps up!" but eventually it went away. Weird.

I have three 510 batteries (one manual, two auto) and three attomizers and numerous whistle tip carts. I've opted for VG except for the prefilled carts that came with my starter kit. At first the 25mg nic level was way too strong but I've adjusted. Regardless, I will order lower nic levels in the future. (Can't wait to try wintergreen!)

Holding my 510 is odd... it's a bit too heavy to hold comfortably with two fingers as I do with analogs and I find myself holding it more like a hookah stem or as if I'm sipping from a straw. The manual battery leans towards being held like a cigar. I'm not big on dangling a smoke from my mouth but the whistle tips do help when I occasionally grip the e-cig with my teeth for two handed maneuvers like typing.

I've substituted a few of my regular smoke breaks with vaping and it's happening more often as I get used to the sensations. Soon, I'd like to be completely off analogs. I'm just not sure of the reliability of my 510 yet.

I've noticed that the flavor of my juices tends to linger in my sinuses and I can taste it at odd moments during the day. Kinda like a flash back...

I'm really having some trouble with getting a consistent result for my carts. I've tried the PTB, the ZFM and have even reused the fillers that came with my pre-filled carts. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but they all seem to just flood the atty or dry out and the fluid doesn't get to the bridge. (is it because of the thicker VG fluid?) My main concern about this is for taking my PV to work or out and having a reliable method. Here at home I've taken to direct dripping which seems to work well for 5-10 puffs or so. When I'm out and about, however, I don't want to mess with dripping. It's been very frustrating! Someone here mentioned switching to a 2-piece e-cig for less hassle but I don't have the funds to invest in anything else for a while.

The bewildering amounts of information on cart mods and juices and c-cig models on this site is daunting. I've found a few useful tips (such as blowing the primer out of new attys) and I'm grateful for the ingenious trail-blazing that some of you have shared.

Thanks!

Actually, there's nothing unusual about that at all. That's your mental conditioning kicking in. Psychologically, you're use to using an analog to get your nicotine. The act of using a PV and intaking nicotine is triggering your brain into repeating a process that it associates with smoking.

The act of smoking is just as much a habit as is the actual smoke and nicotine. Give it some time and determination and your brain will retrain itself to recognize the PV over the analog.

The VG is thicker so you may be on to something with it not wicking right because of it. Try thinning with just a few drops of distilled water. Don't use tap water. You don't want to vape chlorine or fluoride.

When I was using a filler I liked the plain old poly fill that you could buy from Walmart. It took a few tries to get just the right amount of filler but once you figure out what works for you it will become like second nature. Make sure you don't get the flame ......ant filler, it has chemicals in it you really don't want to vape (from what I've read) Be careful dripping with the auto batteries. If you flood the atty you could flood the battery and that will gunk one up and cause it to not work as well or not at all. I use 4 drops with my manual battery and would get a good 30 minutes out of it when I was chain vaping.

I craved a real cig the most when I was cleaning carts or mixing juice. Never did figure out why though.

Unperson: Yeah I figured it must have to do with the fact that I was vaping inside at my computer but the smoking I do outside on my porch. Smoking is my cue to go outside and take a mental break from whatever I'm doing. I'm making a concerted effort to bring the e-cig outside too, now.

Jules: Thanks! I have some distilled water and I will try the polyfill too.

I bought one bag, used some myself and sent a bunch to a friend and still have a huge piece of the stuff. If you want I could send you some to see if you are going to like it or not before you go and buy any. If you want to, just PM me and we'll get it set up. I've got a couple of packages that HAVE to go to the post office tomorrow so it wouldn't be any trouble.

Oops. Thanks but I just got back from Walmart and I picked some up there. :D

it just takes awhile to get right. a few days after i got mine i was going good and had it all figured out. but day before yesterday i realized that the whole time i was vaping with a slightly flooded atty and have just now figured out how the difference between "flooded" "almost flooded" "moist" and "dry"

if at first you dont succeed, give it two weeks to figure it out.

This works. Do it as often as you need to, in order to re-inforce the behaviour and your subconcious(never big on logic) will follow suit, 'telling' you that you are, in fact, smoking. Your concious mind knows this is a lie, but it is helpless in the face of the subconcious telling it otherwise.
Vape all the places you used to smoke in until the message gets through.

Just wait until you take it out of the packaging. You won't believe how much they fit in that little bag,lol

That is some of the best advice I've seen on here. You are spot on with this one!

Yeah, I have that problem too. I'm going to have to get a timer for my vape breaks at work.

I guess it's inevitable that we make lots of comparisons to smoking as we start vaping. I'd like to get to the point where vaping is the norm!

Hmmm... I take my smoke breaks at my car. Maybe I can just get an egg timer.

or count vapes.

a cig is ~20-25 puffs

when you vape you (or at least I) tend to take longer drags, so 10-15 long, relaxed inhales

??!! How big were your cigs man?!? I used to get 5-8 drags off a cig. Figure take a drag, set it down or hold in your hand.... it's burning down that whole time. I figure the 2 drops I drip lasts 1-2cigs worth of drags. Real world, not rushing kinda cigs. (I'm assuming you must be taking a drag, inhaling and starting another drag while exhaling to get 20-25 quack)

Anyway, that was the plan. Drip 2 drops, when it was gone, set it down 'cuz that was my 1-2cigs. Yeah. Right. I almost never put this thing down. lol It's become my adult type pacifier.

Working on lowering my nic levels now. :p

Slowly but surely I am replacing my normal smoke breaks with a vaping break. My analogs are beginning to taste bad too, which is a good sign!

I just got my wintergreen juice from Vapormaxx and it is tastier than I had hoped for! Yay!

I work out at KSC and, since I may lose my job soon, I'm wondering if I should stock up on some vaping supplies. Namely attomizers and batteries. Hmm... it would be worth the investment to keep me off of analogs through the coming stressful times.

Oh! I think I finally found the solution to my flow problem. I have been trying out the pen spring and poly-fil plug mod from Scottyballs and it has been working very well!

Heres a link to a very cool mod. I found this before I ordered my 510. I was hesitant to try doing myself but was happy to find that cignot offers a 3 pack of carts for the 510 for $5.00 with this mod. I tried the 510 with standard filler and then the carts I have filled using this mod and all I can say is this is the way I am going in the future. Now that I have seen how it is done and used a cart produced by someone other than a newb (me) I feel confident I have a benchmark to work from. This mod works awesome for me. I am loving my 510's performance.
