Sounds like the person referred to by the OP is a personality type that likes to draw attention to herself. vaping was her activity du jour.
If that activity was not available, she would have replaced it with something else to do so. I have been at this for almost a year now. One thing I have discovered is that vapor does have a lingering odor. There are juices I vape that taste good to me but offend my friends. Others they think smell good. Whether you are smoking or vaping, imposing your chosen activity on people it offends is not courteous and will not have a positive effect on attitudes toward vaping in general.. JMHO .... ;-)

I have found the same thing. i spend quite abit of time in the Peoria area for work. do vape where i can and dont where it may bother folks.
I was at the advance auto in Washington yesterday and had 2 guys that work there ask me about my setup. I told them about the shop about 1/2 an hour away in Lincoln.
They were completely ok with my vaping in the back of the store which was great. Today i was in starbucks where i didnt vape because i was in and out of the front area so as to not bother anyone. It all boils down to common sense and courtesy :D

Yea, I agree thats a little much. My general rule of thumb is I won't vape in any place that has been illegal to smoke in during my lifetime. So, hospitals no. Restaurants, yes. But I inform the waitstaff ahead of time and thus far I've had no problems. Inside of school, no. But inside of my car while waiting in the pickup your kid up procession, yes. I've been reminded that the school has a no tobacco on the grounds policy too. But I've explained I'm not using a tobacco product, and this ecig is why. If I didn't have this tool, I'd still be smoking. So it seems to be a dead issue for the moment. I do attempt to keep it out of their sight as well. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers in the hen pen... And I suppose the fact that these things could be mistaken for drug paraphernalia by the uninformed person doesn't really help my case either. I just look at it as an opportunity to educate people. But I agree that if its pushed too hard too fast it will probably just freak people out and cause undue resistance.

I'm still new to vaping, here in TX everywhere I have been with my e-cig no one has said anything to me about it. in fact, my work is strict about smoking but when all the corporate people show up and I am vaping in the store, they have all asked me about it and I have told all of them that it has helped me quit. they have all had questions about it and I tell them what it is and what it does, they are actually supprised that more of our employees aren't using the e-cigs. our walmart out here is the same way. they don't say anything about it. but I also don't vape while I am in line. I will walking through the store. but not in line

Yes she definately had a nasty little attitude!!! I failed to mention her rolling her eyes to when asked to please not do it. I had quite a difficult time refraining myself from cursing her out. Security came too, but since it happened so fast, and the end of check out, they just followed her to the exit and watched her leave. Im not saying its wrong to vape in public, heck I vape in public all the time. Just have some friggin respect for other people. Just because its safer than cigarettes doesnt mean you have the right to blow it in other peoples faces. Shes was pretty much blowing in that other ladies personal space. I mean of some dude had some rank breath, and told me hey its just bad breath it wont hurt you and continued to breath on me, I would probally have to hurt someone, Lol! Just respect peoples personal space please please please!!

In a year's time, I've only been asked to "stop smoking" once when out in public. This was in a smaller Chinese food carryout that has a few small tables for couples or singles to eat in if they wish. I was standing just inside of the front door entrance and taking an occasional single drag on my Provari, and attempting to not be obvious with my exhaled vapor. A middle-aged gentlemen sitting across the room said in a non-threatening way that he was allergic to smoke and would I please stop smoking. He and his female partner were the only others in the restuarant.

I replied to this with a typical, "It's not smoke, it's water vapor. I'm using an electronic cigarette that doesn't burn tobacco or make smoke." He came back with a, "I'm sorry, I couldn't tell. It looked like smoke."

Out of respect for his politeness, I stopped using my PV for the rest of the time that I was awaiting my order.

If we are going to vape in public, we need to respect those around us. We also must educate and stand up for our rights as vapors when given the opportunity.

a bad attitude is wrong no matter what the situation. if the mother had rolled her eyes and did the fake cough thing, that is just as rude and doesnt warrant attention. i wouldnt smoke standing in line or walking through a restaurant when smoking was allowed. but i wasnt going to ask anyone else not to. when it comes to smoking or vaping, everywhere can potentially be someones personal space. just because someone walked past me while i was in a smoking area outside means i was blowing smoke in their personal space. that doesnt mean i should be expected to put it out or not exhale just because a nonsmoker walked by or chose to stand where the smoke was floating. this always goes back to what is allowed. if the business allows ppl to vape then the issue goes back to them.

it seems to me that this is about the bad attitude of the girl vaping not the fact she was vaping around the child when asked not to (presumably for possible health issues). cha0s didnt seem to have a problem with the vaping until the mother said something. so it wasnt the mother or the childs health thats the problem otherwise cha0s would have been upset about her vaping in line and around a child even if the mother had said nothing. just making an observation.
