I came this close to smacking someone today over vaping

I was at my stepsons wedding this weekend and stepped outside to hang out with a few of his fraternity brothers while they smoked and I vaped. One of them said "Hey those things aren't much better than a cigarette!" My reply? "ahhh, you're not very educated are you?" (I said it jokingly but he knew I was referring to his knowledge about e-cigs) I gave a short primer on e-liquid and a very short description on how it works. He ended up trying it and so did the brides brother. Both liked it but only time will tell if they make the switch. At least they're a bit more informed now.

The only time I almost smacked somebody's inlaw was because I was taking care of their Mom, and they weren't very nice to their own mother. :(

As for everything else, I'm around people pretty much constantly, on a daily basis, who don't agree with me about stuff, and vice versa.

I mean, the topic areas of religion, lifestyle, diet, politics, parenting, economics, are endless, aren't they?

I thought that was just normal life for everyone on the planet.

Last time I vaped in public was at gamestop. It wasnt crowded, did the deep inhale. No one took notice. I often take my Sid in a store and no one notices it. Guess the uneducated don't care or don't want to know
In all honesty. Most people don't care. It's the few people that have an ax to grind with their own unhappiness that like to whine about such things as vaping, or sodas larger than 20oz, or the one weed growing in your yard, or the holiday nativity scene in your front lawn, or whatever other mundane thing they can think of to whine about. These are the people that wake up unhappy, and set out on a mission to make everyone else just as unhappy as they are. They usually have the loudest "voice" in society, and, as always....the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

People tell me all the time that "those things are dangerous. They blow up" I always say cellphones batteries blow up too, but that doesn't keep you from being on it 20hours a day.

Batteries can blow up if you don't take care of them. Doesn't matter if its in a PV, cellphone, laptop etc.

As for the fake coughers. That drives me nuts. Its so common too its ......ed. I just laugh. "You cough when you shower too? That explains THAT smell"

I work at the home of a sweet lady I take care of with ALS. Her PITA in-laws are visiting for Christmas. The mother-in-law aka backbiting crone of the century sees me take a hit from my Triton and cattily says what the hell is that you're smoking on? I said I don't smoke, it's a vaporizer and currently I'm using cappuccino. She pipes up and says I've heard those are worse for people than smoking and batteries blow up in people's faces ALL the time.

I replied there is no tobacco content in my mixtures whatsoever and as far as batteries blowing up...people usually ignore the fact that they've got a battery getting hot already and then it finally goes off on them. I watched a guy blow up a car battery once and it made a hell of a noise, but he took the caps off it and bent down with a cigarette in his mouth, boom!

So then she proceeds to do this fake coughing stuff every few minutes like I was chain vaping or something...which I never do anyhow and I was taking one hit about every ten minutes or so. I actually started laughing at her and she got angry. I told her that I had already stealth vaped around her for months every time she visited, I just had never been doing it right in front of her. Needless to say, the fake coughing instantly stopped.

I asked did you ever actually think that perhaps the big cigarette and pharmaceutical companies are behind all the negative publicity about vaping? Her reply was I don't know about that, I just heard it was really bad for you. This coming from a woman who smoked for 30+ years and refuses to use a portable oxygen tank even though her doctors have told her she seriously needs to use it all the time or else...because she's too vain to be seen in public with it and she's worried about my vaping?

The lady I work for and her husband know I do it, they have no issue with it whatsoever. I've mixed up my juice right in front of the wife so she sees exactly what I'm using and I explain it to her. She even likes coming up with new recipe suggestions for me to try out.

Don't worry, I didn't smack her but I had some very pleasant fantasies going on in my head about it for awhile.

This ones for you

My method is to usually kill people with kindness. If someone says something to me I will kindly put my pv away and/or apologize. I know it seems like I may be just "rolling over" to these types of people but some people just need something to be upset about and can't listen to reason, so I let them stay upset.

Just my two cents.
I support your right to handle things the way you are most comfortable.
However, such a reaction only serves to reinforce their incorrect beliefs and make them even more willing to speak up next time.

I could never in good conscious take such an approach.
I feel it does a disservice to leave them wallowing in their ignorance, both to them and to the next vaper they meet.

Just my two cents.

My response to "I hear those things are worse than cigs"

"They are....much much worse. Just today I was coughing so hard from the toxins that I threw up blood. My hair has also been falling out. If you hold a hit long enough I'm told your heart explodes."

Screw attempting to educate sheeple who repeat some mindless nonsense they half heard on a BS news show. Their first statement already proved they have no interest in facts.

I had a discussion with a hotel clerk while on vacation; she had actually made her husband quit PVs because she had heard that they explode (and he went back to tobacco). I politely told her that batteries rarely explode, and you have to treat any electronic device with a little respect.
I think she was listening. Worth a try.
